1:15 - fook me, how does he sing like that?? Leadbely has such variety in song style -- awesome. Led Zep ripped loads from him (and other bluesmen or even folk singers like Davey Graham - e.g. ) - and did fantastic versions - just wish they would have given credit for the origins of many tunes and classic lyrics that pepper their songs.

he didnt write this song, and didnt write most of his songs. he simply provided his renditions (which were obviously quite good) of various southern folk songs. basically like doc watson.

He was born on january 29th 1888. i think his first record was from 1934 after he was in prison. He was active till his death on december 6th 1949.
