Carson never really cared for Leno. Note that Carson went on Letterman in 1995 and never appeared on Leno. Also, Leno never even mentioned Carson once in his first episode as host. You'd think he'd have thanked him at least once.

The day the Tonight Show was handed over to Jay Leno really felt like he died then. So fans had to mourn his departure twice. A truly irreplaceable televison icon/legend.
