The initial Russian intervention into South Ossetia could be seen as legal in international law, as they tried to protect their peace keepers. However, the advance from South Ossetia into Georgia was illegal and unacceptable to the West.

Why did the Georgians flee, and why US didn't support the "right" side?
Georgia NEVER committed Genocide. Ossetian militia were firing from buildings and streets, and the Georgians returned fire. Civilian deaths are unavoidable in a time of war, especially one this intense. Secondly, the Russians were already there in the beginning. The Russian Air Force, Russian "peacekeepers", and Ossetian militia delayed the Georgian advance long enough to get the Russian 58th Army into South Ossetia. By August 8, the Russians were there in full force.
Russians entered the conflict, firstly, due to the fact that Russian peacekeepers were shot (without even a warning) by Georgian military.
The war started during the night of 7 to 8th August, by Georgians firing the GRAD systems at civilian objects. They started it without a warning, they killed peacekeepers(that's already a full scaled crime), they killed civilians, they've put the blame on Russia.
Heck, stay updated, even USA admitted it's Georgia's fault.

There was an agreement, incase the USSR will cease to exist, both south and east are to decide on their own if aether of them wish to be a part of Russia and/or Georgia. Leaving your racist comment aside, what they can actually thank is the EU and the US who pressured the Russians to stop their advance into Georgia proper. The initial Russian intervention into South Ossetia could be seen as legal in international law, as they tried to protect their peace keepers. However, the advance from South Ossetia into Georgia was illegal and unacceptable to the West.

Georgia NEVER committed Genocide. Ossetian militia were firing from buildings and streets, and the Georgians returned fire. Civilian deaths are unavoidable in a time of war, especially one this intense. Secondly, the Russians were already there in the beginning. The Russian Air Force, Russian "peacekeepers", and Ossetian militia delayed the Georgian advance long enough to get the Russian 58th Army into South Ossetia. By August 8, the Russians were there in full force.

Russians entered the conflict, firstly, due to the fact that Russian peacekeepers were shot (without even a warning) by Georgian military.
The war started during the night of 7 to 8th August, by Georgians firing the GRAD systems at civilian objects. They started it without a warning, they killed peacekeepers(that's already a full scaled crime), they killed civilians, they've put the blame on Russia.
Heck, stay updated, even USA admitted it's Georgia's fault.

Georgia used coordinated artillery barrages on military and governmental facilities, Despite the international agreement that the placement of military facilities like bases and ammunition depots inside dense populated areas is a warcrime, these kind of facilities appeared to be very numerous. Georgia started to engage these targets when it was clear that the city was evacuated. Russia bombed populated areas.

Supressed Georgian troops reponded with heavy artillery fire and tanks, of which' result, 15 Russian VDV soldiers were killed and 150 wounded. Georgians than continued to advance to the center of Tskhinvali which was allready outmanouvered by heavily armed Georgian Police Special Units of the Ministry of Interior.

Russian 58th army command column was sighted trying to enter the scenario with heavy IFV and MBT support. Georgian operatives waited untill the heavy armed convoy took on the street and than knocked out the first and last vehicles as standart convoy killer manouver. Georgian operatives destroyed and eliminated most of the convoy. Khrulov wounded.

THEY WERE UN MANDATED PEACEKEEPERS, theres documentary proof of that and it's recognized by all the governments in the EU and most people on our planet, in fact there were also 600 Georgian peacekeepers under the mandate, who participated in the assault on South Ossetia, it's militia's and other peacekeepers who shared their same mission. 3 weeks After the war experts from the EU and UN were allowed in, America did it's own expertise but didn't even bother visiting South Ossetia.

I have read my history. Georgia, had began from a group of people that migrated from Iran and settled in Turkish territory. As the population grew, the people residing in the region wished to seperate and become an independant state. Hence why Georgia fought the Turks for countless centuries.
The events that we discussed earlier are about the Ottomans not the Turks, and the 15th - 16th centuries was approximately when Georgia joined the Russian Empire.

In times of Stalin, Ossetia was divided into south and east. South was given to Georgia and east stayed under Russia.

There was an agreement, incase the USSR will cease to exist, both south and east are to decide on their own if aether of them wish to be a part of Russia and/or Georgia. This agreement was ignored by Georgia, due to which the first conflict broke loose, which eventually led to what happened on 08.08.08.
(p.s. your president is psychologically unstable, and it was proven by psychologists all over the world, not just russians).
Oh and 1 more thing - I'm not from Russia, get your facts straight

Never compare a muslim country to a christian! Chechnya was different. Russia had no right to go there. And there was never a jihad against Russia!

the fuck Russia has no right to go to Chechnya? Its on Russian territory, inside Russian borders. And btw Chechens didnt try to peacefully to separate they started attacking regions around them. Killing Russian citizens. So Russia had to calm them down.

Ya ya , there are no reporsts of Ossetians or Russians attacking Georgia, but there are pictures of Georgian tanks in Tshinvali and there are alot of damage done to Ossetian city. You can say what you want but Georgia tried to wipe out Ossetia. Russians came in and stopped their genocide. Say what you want but facts are facts.
