I think free trade is beneficial between nations of equal economic status. However, between unbalanced nations it only benefits one with the detriment of the other.
This Korean asshole is the typical charlatan on the left. The Federal Reserve, Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, and subsidies for the Housing market are part of a regulated economy--not free market.
I see some commenting about irony of Chinese economist analyzing capitalism and free trade. Why do people assume all Asians are Chinese. He's South Korean economist and South Korea is a democratic, capitalistic country.
I love the wisdom of Ha-joon Chang. . .Neoliberalism is corrupt capitalism where the major market is the government. . .He who owns the US government and its military power owns the market. . .See Chompsky on "Kick the Ladder" for an excellent analysis of US hypocrisy.
Ha-joon Chang is Korean Economist and studied in Cambridge you bunch of dumbass. He have been smashing the myth of FTA in his books and it was very exquisite. Joseph Stiglitz and Noam Chomsky wrote a letter of recommendation. Moreover he is a prizewinner of '03 Myrdal and '05 Leontief. I agree with Xenu. His books are must-read.
@su79eu7k Yes, Free Trade Agreements are bad, namely because they do not promote "free trade" per se. Free Trade means just that - free trade, ie no stipulations etc! Furthermore, the IMF is heavily involved in many cases, and they are hardly advocates of free markets in their actions etc. This economist is terrible, easily refuted by a good economist. Laughable.
@codedeft shh...dont tell the nuts that. They prefer to create strawmen and commit logical fallacies and to attack him instead of addressing the argument
PM Gordon Brown is a shill for the international banking cartel, as well as Mr. "Change" Obama...all the Federal government is good at is writing thousands of laws-tax laws, drug laws, small business laws, etc. The Feds also like to take money from the poor and give it to the elite 8% of the population that own 90% of the wealth..."public servants" have become "elected officials", and the only people they serve are the rich and powerful. "Change"?! What change?! Change for the worst..and we pay!

If we let the economy run our lives, we end up getting cheated. The economy is a necessary evil, nothing more.
