OK - So, what would every vote be?? Obama wasn't on the ballot in Michigan. He didn't campaign if Florida - but Clinton did ( she sent Bill down to do it). So, what votes does he want to count?? Turnout in Michigan was one-third of what it should have been. This was a reflection of the fact that the contest was illegitimate, and most MI voters recognized this. Clinton supporters stayed home; Obama supporters stayed home more.

The rules were the rules, until Clinton decided that they weren't.  The committee today did the best that it could do.

It's a lovely sentiment, very democratic and all, but it entirely fails to capture the complexity of the situation.

Just one example to consider: had Obama's name been on the ballot in MI, he quite possibly would have won that state -- see the impartial and exhaustive analysis at fivethirtyeight, for instance -- and earned more delegates than Clinton. He almost certainly would have won more than under this compromise.

Clinton, of course, has no interest in compromise. She can't afford it.

Now that she badly needs every last delegate, Clinton wants to change those rules -- though even her husband has admitted that the half-delegate seating is the most practical solution. Nobody is happy that it has come to this, but the compromise is a fair one, and this protestor's oversimplifications are unfortunate and counterproductive.
