I'm listening with headphones and cannot hear the "mythical" difference between them.. and that's playing alone, without a full band!

I watched these two videos just to reassure myself that the Memory Boy was the same thing in a smaller package - I was about to buy one. To my ears the DMM is worse from an audio standpoint - more lofi, darker, more colored... but IMO that is better for guitar. Anyway, they do sound different, and the DMM is the one that has made a huge impression as a core sound in popular music.

That's actually subjective, because I use a Loop Station to create delay-like overdubs as well, and you have to increase the volume to add more layers (or start from a low volume). You can do it with your guitar's volume control, but having an additional boost source helps a lot.

DMM has a level control, DMB does not. Much more control over volume variation in your live sound (if you use multiple effects) and easier to adjust when switching settings

I've heard that there's a slight volume boost when the memory boy is engaged, is this true, and if so, is this an issue?

@ShortScaleGearDemos dude get the modulation speeds and depths better matched up. you have the memory boy doing way deeper AND faster than the memory man

@lordofgstrings You can't adjust the Speeds other than the two switches and if you watch the video you'll see I do my best to match them. I also set the Depths and tweak them - it was hardly a simple video to make.

I have an early 80's DMM and I love it!! However, it is used for recording only because of the non-versatility for live gigging. It is way too big for my board as well. I purchased the MB and it is essentially identical in tone with my DMM. It also makes a better fit on the board. I use it for a couple of old school U2 songs and thats about it but is will stay on my board!!! Very cool pedal, especially for the price. (Not as sexy as the DMM though!!!)

I've been playing for over twenty years and the Deluxe Memory Man is a core component of my sound. I've played with and own lots of delays but the DMM is king in my book, well worth the extra money, any pro will tell you. The Memory Boy has it's own charm, but the DMM is just a better pedal.

I found the MMan warmer than the MBoy. It's posible or it's a fake sensation product of the low quality of sound compressed?

I was convinced to buy a MBoy, but this video change my opinion. Please give me yours opinions about MMan Vs MBoy. THANX!

lets say some burglar brake into your home and steal both your DMM and DMB!! :P LOL then with your knowledge, wich one would you go and buy again?

concidering the prise between the two, the DMM or the DMB?

You can get most of the sounds of the DMM with the MB and seemingly some the DMM can't do, but imo the Behringer VM1 is the best I've seen, and cheaper than the MB. Even the self oscillation is the same. Either way, the MB and the VM1 are both a much better deal than the offensively priced DMM. Good demo.

Hm, your DMM seems to sound a lot different than mine. It could be the versions. Mine 90ies one sound superior to my blue 70ies one, even after it was cleaned up.

Also, what I would've liked to have seen was pushing the DMM up to the point of oscillating BUT not just yet. That's where it shines, having a soft bed of repeats underneath your playing.
