Ravie de voir que tu connaisses cette danse (et je sais pertinemment que tu n'es pas le seul cas dans ton si grand pays) mais un peu choquée que tu puisses juger aussi maladroitement mes propos alors que ma seule intention n'était que de vouloir valoriser notre côté khmer ...
a yike is like a play. theres a "Tum Teav" one, a "Sopasith", "preah pithumondit" and many many others. this is just the homrong, something like a "sompeah kru". The play is very musical, like a lakhon, except the music and singing style is different.
It's strange that you (american) had never seen this dance before. In France, it is as famous as the dance of coconuts or with bamboos and all folk dancers learn it here.

are all yike performances different? i've seen the one from Royal univ of fine arts in cambodia and a khmer kampuchea krom one.
