I seriously love guinevere. is soooooo great. I am a huuge Gwen-fan and Arwen fan. But gwen is just the best. I love her, because she reminds me of myself. When it comes two personality and looks ( I am black two XD). I seriously love her. She is totally my favourite character. I don't understand why people don't like her. Just because she gets Arthur?? angel colby is a good actress , but she is very ugly to play guinevere, who was supposed to be gorgeous, white skin, light eyes, full mouth, small nose, tall . the true gwen should be the opposite of thismerlin's gwen . morgana is the one who should be gwen because she is gorgeous
@balenguer Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. I think Angel is prettier than Katie. And even if what you say is true, Arthur has better sense than you it would seem. He loves Gwen, not for her looks but for the person she is. Looks will fade with age, at the end of the day it is your mind that matters.
Gwen is great, they have been able to show a lot more of her character and that she wants Camelot to be a great kingdom.
Plus getting to see her and Arthurs relationship from the very start has been great. I hope they give her (and Arthur) a happy ending, the Gwen in this version deserves it.

@NormbrettaMod The writers have tried to produce an entertaining drama/comedy/romance. They balance naturalism with fantasy. The lady who plays Gwen is beautiful and has a good chemistry with Arthur, a lot of Merlin fans are pretty fanatical about the pair. It works, you should watch it. The friendship between a young Merlin and Arthur is also wonderful. Believe me when I say that Merlin in a treasure of a TV show. You would laugh and cry and maybe swoon, lol.

I had a bit of a search round for you, and this piece of music is from 1.03 "The Mark of Nimueh" and it during the scene when Gwen approaches Merlin and asks him if he wants a flower. It's a bit hard to hear the piano bit at the beginning, but the violins at about 0:26 can be heard very well. Hope it helped.

it's because they've changed the Legend slightly in places - Morgana begins as an essentially good character (but is slowly driven evil)
Guinevere is black, yes ... she's also a servant. But I think it works quite well, they're just putting a bit of diversity on the show
and it's about the characters when they were younger, so the big thing they changed was Merlin's age

It appears in the first episode (The Dragons Call) when she goes over to Merlin and introduces herself.
It also appears in episode 3 (The Mark of Nimeuh) when Merlin goes down to visit her in prison.
