But on the issue of saving the whales, I agree with all their tactics.

I think it depends on what generates that fanaticism really. Personally, here in the UK, I see that fanaticism being fueled and driven by selective information and propaganda, and as I understand similar thing is happening in the US, Australia etc. I have no intention of defending the Japanese, but this approach really concerns me - it reminds me of 70s Soviet, where information was carefully rationed to steer the public view.
