Not sure why all the praise for this. So the Mom is marrying a young man...and the ex-husband is OK with it...so what? Why exactly is that idea worthy of 5 minutes of film?
It's ironic and weird in a good way. None of the characters have an expected reaction to the situation except for the son, which is a good formula for comedy. One normal person in the midst of a bunch of crazy people in a crazy situation. Like a Chris Durang play or something.
Excellent acting!! Very realistic depiction of a very real issue facing many American families today! Would like to see a longer version of this video. I give this 5 stars!
I don't get it, Brett. I watched the TOP 20, and I don't fucking get it. "MEET HAPPINESS" is brilliant, in comparison. So many priceless lines "...I am not floating a Candian!" Pitch perfect acting. Solid directing.
If I had to vote between all the "TOP 20" films combined and MEET HAPPINESS, and only my vote counted, Brett Haley would be going to Sundance in January.

This is way better than the rest of the stuff I see on YouTube. Who did this? Because it's unfair if this is a major director. This looks professional. Anyway, I guess it doesn't matter. The point is, is it good? And this is better than good. Nice work.

The "shenanigan line" was weak, and the set needed better lighting, and I just had to mention those two points before saying...
AWESOME! Solid writing, believable performances by all, good directing and a funny story.
