  • @strawberryapple4 Why not? Can't you spare 1 day for all those men who fought for our country and died in foreign lands?

  • Those heroes who shed their blood and lost their lives, you are now lying in the soil of a friendly country. therefore rest in peace. there is no difference between the johnnies and the mehemets to us where they lie side by side in this country of ours.

you, the mothers who sent their sons from far away countries wipe away your tears, your sons are now lying in our bosoms and are in peace. after having lost their lives on this land they become our sons as well.

  • @strawberryapple4 Your comment shows how truly narrow-minded you are. ANZAC day isn't a celebration, it's a commemoration of those who fought and died for our country. And have you ever heard of the ANZAC services in Gallipoli, Turkey? They acknowledge Ottoman, Australian and New Zealand soldiers that died. Get some respect pig.

  • Lest We Forget, Kiwi and Aussies are mates forever... Apart from sport :)

  • Lest we forget.

  • AUSTRALIAN DIGGERS will always be my HEROS...god bless what they went through...those days were a lot tougher than today...no comparison...u can't take that away from em...LEST WE FORGET! xoxox

  • Glory to our Motherland!!!! Lest we forget!

  • Anzac Day and Remembrance Day.

this song is sas it makes me cry

  • Lest We Forget. Remember ANZAC Day is for Kiwis and Aussies for the Gallipoli Landings. But Rememberance Day is for all of the Fallen from not just Australia and New Zealand from World War 1. But for all those who gave their lives in a War that was suppose to End ALL WARS. Peace is desirable. Yet we know PEACE comes at a cost and its paid in blood. Instead of making disparging remarks towards one another. I say

    LEST WE FORGET

  • And by the way I am a Proud Aussie as well. And from an Australian Military Family. When I hear this song and watch this video. I think of my Father I think of my Uncles who served in WW2 and I think of my Great Grand Uncle who served in the 4th Battalion 1st AIF who lays now in Lone Pine Cemetry Gallipoli Turkey Killed in Action 5th August 1915

  • excellent video mate

I have NOT seen a Taliband surface destroyer?

  • brave people right there lest we forget

  • Im a brit and i say now to any other brit who watches this thinking that cause it was the british empire they can insult the anzacs, piss off. they fought damn hard, as hard as any brit, not just for britain, but for their own nations too and for freedom in europe. thank you anzacs and any other veterans of the commonwealth.

  • 3 words...Lest we forget!!!! Our soldiers will always be remembered forever.

  • are you deliberately setting out to offend Australians and any allied veterans on this video

  • SteyrAUG2009, what are you telling here?

What do you thing, what had happened, if Turkey helped Adolf Hitler in WW2? Turkey has got many secret things of him ;) after WW2, many men of Adolf Hitler went to Turkey...And yes, in WW1 Turkey and Germany were allied, you got a problem with that? Or with the Germans? Our soldiers were and "are" heroes, comprende?

  • are they heroes? what were they doing in our land????

  • Fighting for Freedom.

  • What were the Turks doing allied up with the Germans in the first place? Are they heroes?.

  • Yes the Turks were heros, our ANZAC boys had much more respect for them than they did the scrawny chested British Offercers that had no idea.

  • What are you on??? Were you there??? The ANZACs were just as British as the the troops from the British Isles, who also died at Gallipoli (21, 255). The High Commands in all country's had little idea of how to overcome an entrenched enemy armed with MGs, whether in France or Turkey. Keep your prejudices out of WWI remembrance. 'Scrawny chested'? Piss off. They died too.

  • Beautiful memorial. I'm Canadian and I had never heard of Anzac day. Thanks for sharing.

  • they didnt die for their own native..they just died because of Queen' s commands

  • What Queen? She was a Queen-consort. As far as I know, she never issued any orders.

  • same here no new footage of todays servicemen???

  • If you go to revelation100 you will find videos relating to australians that serve today. Take a look at the ADF video.

  • Kiwis and Aussies ....mates forever!

  • you damn right

  • @dwnunder7

that dont mean i aint gonna giive ya much shit as possible though mate

  • @dwnunder7 all day brada

  • Um no. Gallipoli happened because the Turkish closed the Dardanelles and prevented the Russians from receiving aid in from their only warm water ports

  • janco1, America didn't even join WW1 until 1917. That's nearly 2 years after Gallipoli and we were at war with Turkey as it was a German ally. The ANZACS and England tried taking that site to get control of the hills overlooking the Dardanelles Strait - a direct route to their Russian Allies

  • On this 90th Anniversary of the end of WW1 I I feel that we pedal a lot of over nationalist rubbish. You can do that on ANZAC Day but on November 11 we should remember the crime that WW1 was. Where men were sacrificed for just little pieces of land. It was a terrible crime and I respect those who choose not to fight for dubious nationalistic reasons. Many of those who fought were pressured into it and wounds were often more mental than physical. Please learn from this.

  • I agree, Armistice Day is for honoring and mourning those who have died in service of their country

  • I personally hate war and believe that for all the wars that Australia has been involved in only one could not have been avoided. When the troups are called up it means the diplomats have failed and many people soldiers and civilians will die.

  • lest we forget mate

  • In peace, sons bury their fathers, in war, fathers bury their sons...Love from Australia

  • As a father who has attended his son's funeral I wouldn't want that feeling on anyone. War should be the last alternative. I don't believe our leaders have tried enough to keep the peace. We should all try harder.

  • In the war there is no! un wounded soldier....peace in the world..love from turkey

  • Old peopele make's the war's and young peopele die for it...peace in the world...love from turkey

  • From the UK. Thank you for all that you did for us. True friends find you when you need them them, and you have always been true friends. When you are wrong their at your back. When they are right, they are right behind you, as you Nations always have been.

  • It brings tears to my eyes to watch this.

  • Thank you Australia

    Thank you New Zealand

  • Boys, boys, this senimental cack could be improved if you could at least remember what the "NZ" in ANZAC stands for. Some of you don't even know that "they shall grow not old" etc are lines from an Englishman's poem: Binyon would be surprised that you don't know some of the rest of it, eg about "English hearths"...

  • I know what it means. New Zealand, to whom we in the UK owe a huge debt

  • hallchad83, my man .. we Aussies don't suffer fools gladly .. & we don't expect any favours or to be owed a single thing from the likes of the countries you cite .. if you ever muster the strength of character to go away & read & do your research .. it might just open up your mind to a truer reality that is way beyond you at the moment .. you're young enough, inexperienced enough .. & time is on your side, .. so maybe go & use it wisely. Nothing like converting from a fool to a scholar !!

  • That is a really poor comment. We never said you owed us. But if we, and the Canadians. Indians and Americans, and the other countries that joined the wars, hadn't joined, you would have lost. Our countries did a bloody lot for you. Because of your rules etc, Australia had to sink some of their own ships. Maybe you should check up on your history, before insulting half the countries of the world with your ignorance.

  • That's a poor, uneducated and asinine comment. If you knew anything about World War 2, you would realize what a large part ANZACs played. They were the first to stop Rommel in the desert, the Japanese expansion at E.Timor and New Guinea, that decimated the Fallshirmjager in Crete. They were also instrumental in Slim's Chindit campaign, tying up whole armies. The whole free world owes the ANZACs, and no I am not an Aussie or a Kiwi, just a Yank who appreciates ANZACs and their sacrifice.

  • im a kiwi, good reply mate

  • @jhoag56 That is very nice of you. However, it is sort of not true. My father and 5, yes 5 uncles were at Crete. The were not just Anzacs there. My father fought in the New Zealand army. Unfortunately, they got thrashed by a small group of parachutists, as you say Fallshirmjaeger. These were not Airborne like "Battered Bastards of the Bastion of Bastogne". My dad was beaten in three battles and badly wounded. My uncles never won a battle. The American GIs never lost. They were the real heroes.

  • @SugarTomAppleRoger Actually, the term ANZAC is still in use today to denote combined units of Australians and New Zealanders in East Timor. The Fallshirmjaeger took terrible casualties during the invasion of Crete 6,200 dead and 11,200 MIA, most from downed aircraft and sunken ships. As for the Americans, well my uncle was at New Guinea and in tee only battalion to see much fighting. The Americans lost in the Philippines, Kasserine, Anzio, Monte Casino and the Coral Sea.

  • @SugarTomAppleRoger Wow, you judge people as heroes because of the battles they won? I feel sorry for you, I do...

  • @aussiecricketnut Unfortunately that is true. My father and five uncles fought in WW2. None of them attended Anzac Day parades, as they were too sad. My father lost his brother and he was badly wounded himself. Another uncle had shell shock and another was labeled a cowards, as he drove an ambulance and was a conchie. All 6 men fought at Crete, whch was a horrible defeat by a small German landing party.

  • @SugarTomAppleRoger Unfortunately, that is not true.. Why exactly are the American GI's heroes and Australian diggers not? All soldiers that fought for their country are heroes, regardless of whether they won or lost. The German, Austrian-Hungarian and Ottoman soldiers are heroes for carrying out their duties, as is every other troop of different nationality. It matters not how many victories you won.

  • @aussiecricketnut I don't know about the Aussie diggers. American GIs were heroes, as they were victors. My uncle was a conchie, and therefore drove an ambulance and was a medic during the war - the worst sort of coward according to real soliders. My father was badly wounded - real heroes don't get wounded. My uncle was killed in Libya - hardly a great victor. Other uncles fought and lost at Cassino. All my relatives were at Crete. The English called the New Zealanders cowards as they lost.

  • @SugarTomAppleRoger I don't even think you know the definition of hero in the context of war. There are no "real soldiers", they all served their country proudly in different ways - as medics, infantrymen or whatever...I wouldn't be surprised if your 'uncle' didn't serve in the war at all, nor your father, as it is apparent you have little respect. "Real soldiers don't get wounded" you say. You're a joke and a disgrace to ANZAC spirit.

  • @aussiecricketnut My father was badly wounded. He was the only survivor of his batallion. They were overrun by 68 panzers. Listen to this song. "Can you hear Australia's heroes marching?". This is the Anzac spirit. It is Australian. These men are marching. Wounded soldiers are a liability. The dead are gone. That is war. Anzac day is for the Australian heroes.

  • @SugarTomAppleRoger Stop repeating yourself.."Wounded soldiers are not heroes" you say. You have the wrong attitude and are a disgrace to the ANZAC spirit. Why are you even here? Only the "winners" are "real soldiers" aye? Despicable.

  • @aussiecricketnut My uncle was killed in Libya, and my father badly wounded. You say I am despicable. My father had to listen to men get up on Anzac Day - MPs who were in the desert and the biggest shirkers and cheats around. They are the ones giving the speeches. The men like my father and uncles do not attend. Of course they were not welcome, as they fought in losing battles or were wounded. Once of my uncles had shell shock and never got over it. Another was a conchie.

  • @SugarTomAppleRoger Once again, you are repeating yourself. Your "uncle" was killed and your father was wounded you say. I already know this, you said it two other times - are you stupid? I do not care if your uncle died, or if your father was wounded, or if your other uncle 'Joe' was a medic. They are all heroes for their individual services.

And yes, you are despicable, for denying the respect ALL soldiers should receive for their duties, irrespetive of whether they won or lost.

  • @aussiecricketnut Yes. I am repeating myself. You called me a liar. My uncle is listed in the Commonwealth War Commission. My father was wounded at the Battle of Belhamed. Listen again to the music in this video. It says talks about "Australian heroes".

  • @SugarTomAppleRoger Fuck you're a retard. I don't think I've come across anyone as stupid as you. I can hear the video and I know your "father" was wounded. So fuckin what..A lot of people were wounded. You are despicable for not calling them heroes.

And for all I know, you probably are a liar. You don't seem to have much respect for your supposed "father" who you say got wounded.

  • @aussiecricketnut Why don't you grow up. Maybe you will learn that the rubbish that Rudd and the rest of your Australian leaders tell you is not the complete facts. As a New Zealander I resent the fact that Australians like you say that Anzacs only mean Australians and exclude New Zealand. You can go to hell, that is until you learn some manners.

  • @SugarTomAppleRoger Lmao, you need to take reading classes degenerate. I said nothing of what you claimed. Now stop disgracing the ANZACS by saying only the people that won the battles were "heroes". You sicken me.

  • @jhoag56 As mentioned, you have to realise that ANZAC used to mean Australia and New Zealand at the time of 1915. After that, it only referred to Australian soliders, as can be heard in this clip, which only mentions Australia. It is a bit like the relationship between the US and Canada. People used to call Canadians Americans. Now the term is only reserved for the people from the south.

  • To ALL my fellow Veterans.....Thanks!

To ALL the ANZACS..... I respect each of you as a brother!

    Fastronald U.S. Army 1971 - 1974

  • Hooah Australia!

    God bless the Commonwealth :D

  • aren't we all proud to be Australians? I certainly am those who sacrificed their lives for our country and made it what it is today. those who got injured i feel sorry for and those who died may they rest in peace *sobs* lest we forget!waaahh waaaaah lest we forget, lest we forget.

  • ANZAC falls on today,26th April 2008..May we never forget the courageous sacrifices of these men,no matter our different nationalities.. Lest we forget

  • um hate to tell you this but its the 25-4

lol note to self collect that one lol

  • This is the verse of the ode that is said during the minutes of silence on Anzac Day:

    They shall grow not old,

As we that are left grow old,

    Age shall not weary them,

    Nor the years condemn.

At the going down of the sun,

    And in the morning

    We will remember them.

The verse is traditionally concluded with the words "Lest We Forget."

  • Those heroes that shed their blood and lost their lives....

You are now lying in the soil of a friendly country therefore rest in peace.

There is no difference between the Johnnies and the Mehmets to us where they lie side by side here in this country of ours....

    You, the mothers

Who sent their sons from far away countries wipe away your tears; your sons are now lying in our bosom and are in peace after having lost their lives on this land they have become our sons as well.

    MUSTAFA KEMAL ATATURK

  • Ataturk's tribute to Anzac's mothers

These words were said by President Ataturk, the founder of modern Turkey, who, in World War I, as Colonel Mustafa Kemal, led the Turkish forces facing the Australians.

  • you'll never walk alone!!!

  • our for fathers where heros no matter the cercomstances ( excuse the bad typing) but i hold them close to my hart the rest of u should to young men dying and crying for there mothers fighting for there counrty lest we forget boys... lest we forget! and i just have to say... plz reply... AUZZY AUZZY AUZZY!!

  • thank u mate THANK you!

    lest we forget!... amen!

  • we will remembe tham, lest we forget

  • Selftitled26 you'd be 1 of those who have no idea of true mateship. Your title should be "selfish26". How dare you effectively spit on these men's graves by such comments. You've shown no respect or manners what so ever. Think what you may but manners dictate that with such sensitive matters & on this day in particular you should keep your big trap shut.

In closing may I suggest you go and spend some time at the War Memorial in Canberra rather then sitting on your back side sinking piss.

  • :( A N Z A C Day to remamber all tat died :(

  • War is a pleasurable thing for those who have had no experience of it.

  • Those beautiful men should not have died. To me war is a betrayal of trust. They wanted to serve in the most idealistic way,yet their trust and what they have to offer was wasted. I admire them, but I hate the fact that people are still betrayed by Governments that send people to a needless death. Ask thse who have been there. I have lost both grandfathers to war and yet we still dont learn that war solves nothing, but at the same and we lose a lot.

War is a betrayal of trust.

  • Understand how you feel and no-one can go back and change things. But in the end, how do you want Australia to see both your Grandfathers and others like them. See them as heroes or see them as victims. There are so many songs that portray Australians that have served and died in war as victims. I personally don't think they would want to be remembered that way.

  • it shouldnt matter how people see them, but to just remeber them as them, not heroes, not sacrifices, not victims, but as john manor or julia franks. im with aussie bloked.

  • You're young, you probably don't know how badly this country treated the Australians who served in the Vietnam War and the effect it has had on many Vietnam veterans and their loved ones. In a perfect world, what you say would be right, but unfortunately, we don't live in a perfect world.

  • i understand what you meam, yes i am young but i dont have a see the world as a terrible place when i do i will agree.

    im australian

  • Fantastic video and song!

  • Thank you for your comment. This was one of the first videos done with the song and its not as good as the ones you will find now at revelation100

  • Anzac day isnt about Gallipoli, it's about remembering all the Australian and New Zealand soldiers who laid down their lives so we can have a free country. Show some respect selftitled26 you douche, you don't even know what your talking about.

  • Yeh they do, the turk government must laugh at all those aussies each year. Australian government landed on another country soil to fight, just to be known around the world. How silly is that? We should be angry at the government for making us look like fools. Least we get a day off for it ahahahah

  • ANZAC Day is more than just about Gallipoli.

  • u ar an absolute tool you inconsiderat prick

  • selftitled26 Turks defended their country ,motherland .That was right and self-defence..And I don't think Turks laughing for Australians..I'm sure they are respectful for your martyries..Because they have more martyries ..They did not fight only against Australians..They fought against England and France army too in Gallipoli...

  • Your a fucking idiot, since that you think ANZAC day is just another holiday to get a day off, I think you should go back to whatever country you came from. How dare you say that out Government made us look like fools! They didn't, they sent them there to Gallipoli to save our country. I hope you burn in hell for the things you've said!

    Lest We Forget.

  • im austrilan and today is anzac day they are heros those soilers

  • They shall grow not old,

As we that are left grow old,

    Age shall not weary them,

    Nor the years condemn.

At the going down of the sun,

    And in the morning

We will remember them. Lest we Forget

  • Im Australian and I dont feel sorry for those who died on Anzac day, Sorry but australians shouldnt have landed on turkey, that would have prevented the deaths, lol !! Dah, and australia still didn't win. So for me and many people my age 26 it means a long wkend of parties and getting real trashed. Happy anzac day !!

  • Not everyone your age feels that way, and at the very least you watched the video.

  • That is your opinion selftitled26, that you are entitled to because in Australia you are entitled to sit at your computer and air your opinion. Others fought and died to retain priveleges like that for our country. I'm 26 and totally disagree with you. I'm a teacher and let me tell you, every child in my class was actively engaged in the ANZAC Day discussions we had before the holidays; not because they had to, but because they were genuinely interested. They are 10 year olds. Lest we forget.

  • How dare you say that. alot of young people gave up there live to save Australia. young people died for us and that includes you. Your a heartless person with no soul

  • 2day is ANZAC day, lest we forget

  • Great video - well done - "Lest We Forget"

  • comment

  • lest we forget

  • Since that time, the Australian army has become famous all over the world as the finest army engaged in the Great War. They did not always salute; they did not see the use of it; they did, from time to time, fling parts of Cairo down the Nile and some of them kept the military police alert in most of the back areas. But in battle they were superb. When the Australians were put in, a desperate feat was expected and then done Every great battle in the west was an honour and more upon their banners.

  • this was played at my old primary schools anzac day ceremony today!

  • I was at Anzac Cove last Anzac 2007 thank you for this video it brought back the poignant memories of finding our Great uncles Leonard Johnson Hill graves at Embarkation cementery.

He was a kiwi who was injured at Hill 61 and died 5 days later.

  • With Anzac troops attacking Chunuk Bair, and in order to gain time for reinforcements to arrive, Atatürk gave the order to his best regiment, "I'm not ordering you to attack; I'm ordering you to die. In the time which passes until we die, other troops and commanders can take our places." Stories of the 57th regiment's courageous sacrifice, when almost 100,000 men died

  • No we will never forget those Gallant mates of ours the Kiwis. The men and women from the Land of the Long White Cloud. Vinny we do know in Aussie what the NZ in ANZAC means. It means our New Zealand Mates in War and Peace time. We maybe rivals on the sporting field and always will be. But our matehsip was formed in the crucibile of War and it has survived into Peace Time. Well done the Kiwis and you are our Mates. We don't forget

  • Lest we forget.

Dont forget too, the 'NZ' in ANZAC means NEW ZEALAND.

    ;)

  • No mate we haven't forgotten our mates across the Tasman in New Zealand. To our Gallant mates the Kiwis. Thanks for being our mates. Our 2 countries could never have proposered with out each other in War Time or Peace Time. Kiwis fought like demons at Chanuk Bair and they did their country proud. And Kiwis continued into WW2. From Nth Africa to Italy again making the country of New Zealand Proud of their sons and daughters. How can we in Aussie forget our mates in New Zealand

  • This is a great video, good work to whoever made it, i'm Australian and proud.

  • We also celebrate ANZAC day here in the North Borneo. Many Aussies and British come to Sandakan and some also experience the Mini Death March in remembrance of the Aussies and British heroes forced to march from Sandakan to Ranau in 1945. There were also local Sabahans who risked their lives to assist and rescue the Prisoner of Wars (PoWs).

  • Just don't forget what the "NZ" in the middle stands for; don't forget the respective casuaty rates, and look them up if you don't know.

  • aussis know their history but if you ask 10 british about gallipoli,i am sure,9 out 10 dont know anything about gallipoli.

  • ANZAC there not just Aussie and New Zealand. there are French, British, Irish, Australia and New Zealand. But there WAR hero for Australia and New Zealand. French, British and Irish have many WAR hero

  • Popular influence

The significance of the Battle of Gallipoli is perhaps most strongly felt in Australia and New Zealand where it was the first great conflict experienced by these nations. Before Gallipoli the citizens of these countries were confident of the superiority of the British Empire and were proud and eager to offer their service

  • the country's true psychological independence was only achieved at Gallipoli. ANZAC Day is commemorated every year on the landings' anniversary, 25 April, and is a national holiday in both Australia and New Zealand.

In Turkey the battle, known after the port of Canakkale where the Royal Navy was repulsed in March 1915, has become part of the legend of the nation's revered founder, Mustafa Kemal Ataturk.

  • The ANZACs are revered as heroes and, in Australia are stereotyped as typical tough Australians betrayed by incompetent and callous British superiors, impressions re-affirmed by films such as Peter Weir's Gallipoli, even though "The scale of the tragedy of the Nek was mostly the work of two Australian incompetents, Hughes and Antill."[16] Popular Australian history asserts that while the Federation of Australia was born in 1901,

  • Popular influence about Battle of Gallipoli

The significance of the Battle of Gallipoli is perhaps most strongly felt in Australia and New Zealand where it was the first great conflict experienced by these nations. Before Gallipoli the citizens of these countries were confident of the superiority of the British Empire and were proud and eager to offer their service. Gallipoli shook that confidence, and the next three years on the Western Front would damage it further

  • Those heroes that shed their blood and lost their lives... you are now lying in the soil of a friendly country. Therefore rest in peace. You the mothers who sent their sons from far away countries, wipe away your tears. Your sons are now lying in our bosom and are in peace. Having lost their lives on this land they have become our sons as well.

    —Mustafa Kemal

  • lest we forget

  • Can You Hear Australia's Heroes Marching?' is a national war memorial song and a tribute to the ANZAC spirit of mateship, courage and sacrifice. The song is timeless and honours the memory of those who have died in the service and defence of Australia in war. The song does not glorify war or endorse conflict of any kind. The song simply highlights the sacrifice of many Australians who died in the service and defence of our country in war. (Comment by Peter Barnes - author of the song)

  • "These here are our future but those fallen made them free"

  • Lest We Forget

  • I first heard this wonderful tribute to the Anzacs last Anzac Day (2006) and have since put it to use at school presentations and the such. Really good. The theme we use for schools is Gallipoli and we're happy to send anyone a CD of the presentation that would like it.

  • i will be marching in the sydney_CBD for ANZAC day this wed 25th xjoey_sydney_girlx
