  • omg

  • @BassDude5000 me too! The next bass I'm saving up for is a Wal, can't wait!

  • This bass has balls of steel.

  • geddy lee made me love this bass

  • @BassDude50000 same here bro, geddy shreds the wal

  • Nice! I see absolutely no reason for an active preamp in this bass.. It sounds fantastic.

  • mmmmmm, dat technique

  • monstrous tone!

  • Sweet! Very tasteful and most competently played.

  • great tone!

  • nice stingrayish sound -- but surely one hell of an amp here, wonder which?

  • @MoveOverCasanova That was an SM Pro Audio Tube Mic Preamp. Inexpensive and with EQ and Compression. But still German engineering. :-)

  • You said in your description box that you were getting an active board set up for your Wal. Did you ever come around to it?

BTW It still sounds amazing, even without active electronics!

  • @lasteffect I never made it to put in the new pots for the active board. I just like the bass as it is and enjoy a battery free life. Thanks!

  • @coolguitars I would have done the same! I love this passive sound and regret that my custom Wal basses don't have the possibility to switch to passive. This Pro bass sounds fantastic without the active electronics. More organic and natural. The Wal active EQ produces great sounds but also a lot of crap. I also think that the Swamp ash body produces nicer sounds than the mahogany bodies. I bet it has a great slap sound too. Take good care of this bass, it's a great instrument!

  • @lasteffect It turned out that the active board has a defect. So I won't be able to use it.

  • @coolguitars Defect? What was wrong with the active board? But, as I said, It still sounds awesome in Passive.

  • @lasteffect No idea. Maybe something broke on the board...

  • @coolguitars PM me to discuss repair or re-engineering of the board.

  • @Prostheta Sold the bass and the new owner will keep playing it passive. Thanks!

  • cool bass...what's the type?

  • @zxcdfguio That's a Pro 2 bass - passive

  • thank you. I'm in love with the sound of the Wal bass. Mike Hogan (from Cranberries) uses a Wal bass. Thanks again.

  • I have this one, buy today for 160€, that was a good deal ?

  • @SkollDrum 160 EUR??? Best deal ever! You can get 2000 EUR for it if you sell it again.

  • @coolguitars hellyeah, i'll post a pics to be sure it's this one O.O

  • @coolguitars LOL I think SkollDrum meant 1600, if not, I'm probably just going to kill myself.

  • @basshred I fear your have to kill yourself now. He confirmed the price in another email that he sent me. It was nice having you here on my channel. ;-)

  • @coolguitars This is quite unbelievable! I've the cyanide pills right by me here :p

  • @SkollDrum hope you makes videos of you playig it

  • @JohnCarter104 Lol it's my first bass, i'm a newbie ;)

  • Do you mean you are having this Pro II converted to a Pro IIe active version? I have a passive fretless Pro II that I was thinking about converting, but I am assuming you have to ship it to Wal?

  • @BassGojira I got the active board with this bass. If you want a reproduction of that origninal Wal board, you should talk to Wal, yes.

  • Comment removed

  • I have heard that the prices are around 3000-4000 pounds? Hope thats not right...

  • You might find one for less. But it takes a while.

  • For a new one you will be looking in that ballpark, yes. And then there's the 2 year waiting list.

Stunning pieces of work though, would love to own one. :)

  • hey, what bass guitars do you know of that have a similar tone to the wal?

  • Hey. It's not easy to copy the sound of a Wal. The pickups are the key and the wood collection.

  • i'd reallyreallyreallyreally love to get one, but money can be such an ass to people.

    great playing, btw

  • You've got a beautiful bass! I love the sound! I wish I had a Wal, one day I will...anyways good playing, good bass, you've got it all! Take care and keep rockin!

  • Great job, man! If you ever need to give that Wal away for free, let me know

  • Yeah! Will let you know. ;-)

  • nice

  • Cool bass. I own a Wal Custom 4-string and the sound is unmistakable.

  • great demo and thanks for answering comments. its nice to have someone who cares about their vewers. we all love what you do plz keep at it

  • Thanks! And: A Happy New Year to everybody!

  • very nice sounding bass and nice play. what is that software prog i see on the screen in the background?

  • Thanks! The software in the background is Addictive Drums of XLN Audio, Sweden. Great stuff. If not the best for drums.

  • Thanks men...nice playting too...!!

  • Amazing sound!!! how match costs this bass my friend ??? and is it suitable for slaping and funk ???

  • Thanks! They sell for around 2500 Dollars or so. Depending on the condition. Slapping and funking is cool with this one.

  • The tone in simply Great!!! As well as playing ; )

Could You explain how You've change the settings on the bass at 0:40 and 0:59?

  • Thanks! I am switching from bridge to both and neck pickup through the video. That was it.

  • Thank You for response!

  • I've Featured this video on the Wal Bass Myspace page. thanks for the upload!

  • Hey! Thanks!

  • what other bass could i get that would come close to that soud

  • Wal is the way to go!~ Percy Jones T.E.A.R.S. it up!~

  • I wish I could get tones like this, any tips? Been asking around everywhere, I dont have a high budget, atm, Im using a Fender 60 Watt Amp, Zoom B2.1u, Schecter Stiletto, any tips greatly appreciated =]

  • Thin nickel strings, a light touch, a bit of compression and a tasty setting on your Zoom maybe. Try with your Zoom on headphones first so the Fender amp has no chance to do too much to your signal. Good luck!

  • your playing is like being caressed with a natural yogurt

  • Wtf? That's the wierdest analogy ever. But I like it lol.

  • so, how many millions of dollars is this Wal?

  • Ha! These Pro Basses sell for around 3000 USD I guess.

  • Good thing is that Wal is still in business New Luthier Paul Herman has taken over Pete Stevens' position.

  • What happened to Pete ?. Has he given it up ?.

  • Pete retired due to health problems, so Paul Herman has taken over.

  • God this is like porn for me...I'd kill for a Wal bass...too bad I don't live in UK where it might be easier to find one...whenever they do pop up for sale here in Canada, prices for them spike to a good 5000..however, it would be worth it...

  • in ontario in a city called waterloo there are like 20 wal basses for sale for only 2000... Go get one while they're still in stock and for a good price!

  • What store?

  • long & mcquade, not too sure if they're still in stock..

  • very nice...

  • Lovely playing, had my Wal cusom from new in 85. They really are the most fantastic basses in the world. For those of you who are interested there is a club site "wall basses naturally" on yahoo. Useful for parts and advice on buying and maintaing one.

  • man this is amazing! do you know where can I find a wal bass?

  • basically any guitar store

  • Yeah Right!! Wal basses are rare..and awesome!!

  • dont make them anymore. Custom made in England. You can easily drop 5 to 7k on one on ebay or several other websites

  • its like geddy lee on hold your fire, love the wal bass

  • That have some decent high end

  • looks like I may have to wait a while.

  • Beautiful movement.

  • Thanks! I enjoyed YOUR video a lot!

  • Im gonna have to get rid of my jazz bass and get myself a wal great tone.

  • Good luck, they have become quite scarce. I love them and want them but used will probally run you over 2k easily on up, I forgot if production has started again yet.

  • i've seen them go on ebay for $7000

  • haha, good luck finding one

  • This is what happens when nobody shows you how to do it 'right'. Cheers!

  • you've got a great right hand technique there man. it was a pleasure to watch.

  • That was great. Damn, I wish I could play like that.

  • So you think I should do this for money? ;-) Thanks mate!

  • Man, your Musicmaster video was groovin, but this took it to a new level.

    Wow man.

  • Normally I am using a Diamond Compressor on my board but this time I recorded straight through a mic preamp with no EQing.

  • Are you using a pedal with your bass?

  • There is a Mach II on Ebay in the UK at the moment. ;-)

  • WALs are back in production but these beautifully hand made Basses are very expensive and there is a waiting list I guess it's like buying a Ferrari!

  • you are a super musician matey, nice tone to your wal. exellent, keep rockin!!

  • These Pro Basses are no longer in production but Wal will now start building basses again.

  • wow i crave that kind of tone! how much is a wal bass?

  • These Pro Basses sell for around 2000 EUR here. Pretty surprising to hear that this passive bass has so much Wal-tone to it. The pickups seem to deliver the wal tone.

  • Can you still get them? I heard they arn't being sold anymore

  • I to see more of it. The song to play on the wal bass is Love Meeting Love by Level 42.

  • great nice passive tone

  • The slap sound is good, but I am not good in that stye so I will never show you. ;-)

  • how long ago did u purchase did Wal?

    10x

  • Not too long ago.

  • great tone and great riffs! how about the slap sound?
