This is ludacris! The MPs accompanying these suspects must have a crime they committed in the past that may require support. I guess it's a 'scratch my back and I'll scratch yours' culture. Makes me sick that they could spend that money trying to figure out how to ward off the looming hunger situation. Get your priorities right selfish morons. I'm praying they do time in Hague. Lastly please stop with the singing makes my ears ring.
After Rwanda massacre, some Africans were for Kabuga's arrest by ICC,after Kenya bombing, all kenyans were for America finding "Osama"..sasa wenu wamepatikana, story imebadilika..."oohh mzungu this ,muthungu that"...by kenyans that permanently live in muthungulands anyway
What a Disgrace! African cows heading to the white man's court. did they pay for over 10,000 killed British colonial killings. destruction of people's property??
so much for African independence. Mentally dead, mentally colonized ready to be fully recolonized!
Even if we complain about the leaders, the fact is, we elected them. And they have supporters in Kenya even if we may not be one of them. So really, at the end of the day, we should be looking at and reevaluating ourselves. We are equally responsible for our own fate.
@bn7613 You are so right! This is the kind of thing we Kenyans cannot accet. We shout the loudest about eople we elect. We do not reevaluate why we do it and how we can change the face of leadershi, the structures are there though. Why do we even dream of defeating the big beast, corruption.Corruption everywhere as sticky as glue and as contaminating as a plague. I tell you what, at least the wazungus are corrupt but they build their infrastructure with the taxable loot. We cant even deploy this.
It seems kenyans have not understood what it means to be accused and 2 appear infront of an international court like heeg. The polititians are playing big and misbehaving in court they think they are in Nairobi. Thanx OKAMPO.
WE ELECT THE MOST STUPID LEADERS EVER.WHY WOULD ALL THESE MORRONS GO TO HUGUE TO PARADE THEIR IGNORANCE.THEY EVEN DONT KNOW THE SONG.THESE MEANS THEY ALL SUPPORT IMPUNITY AND VIOLENCE THAT HAPPENED 2007.MY FELLOW KENYANS NOTE THE MPs AND SEND THEM HOME IN 2012.THEY PARALYISED GOVERNMENT BUSINESS TO GO PARADE THEIR IGNORANCE IN HAGUE.YET THEY TELL WAZUNGU THAT THEY CAN MANAGE COMPLEX ISSUES.HOW IS A LOCAL MECHANISM ABLE TO BRING JUSTICE WHILE ITS OBVIOUS THAT YOU ARE AGAINST JUSTICE.PATHETIC!
Uhuru said that Kenya can do without Rail. Can't Kenyan do without Uhuru as well? Why does Uhuru think so much against Raila as if Raila is responsible for his fate? If I were Uhuru, with all the wealth Kenyatta left in Kenya up to Britain, I couldn't have wasted my time in politics. I could have stayed home to enjoy wealth coz afterall, who will question the wealth. Despising one community as poor and they are our tenants will make us loose. We don't know when revolution is coming.
@njerirose24 Njeri maitu! didn't mama nginas tears move u the othe nite..can u forgive uhuru? the young man did what he had to do @that time! nakama iko nini baba yake alilipa! and that is why the govt has been granted a caveat by ICC to get the 6 suspects tried home. remember it's today @3:30pm my time..
@sixteen6t he actually won CNN African Journalist of the year award in 2009...why do you think its poor journalism? I like the angle he took rather then regurgitating the same information like other journalists ....
@loisenasio The CNN award he won was rigged and because there was no competition. he hasnt done anything to show us that he is one of Africa's finest. Nothing. just this shallowness.
Insightful analysis and well done. Now if only the majority of the Kenyan population would vanquish the "Our Man" culture. Such retrogressive steps if not ended will only inhibit our potential.
@karuitha what do you mean outsider? Sadly one of those Mps is my MP. If he goes back at least I will have a clear conciense that I did not put him back there to regress the country as he is now.
In Kibera watu walingoa Reli, naivasha watu walimalizwa, same eldy na wenzao, in ksm, police killed demonstrators..period hague doesnt deal with uharibifu wa property....it deals with crimes against humanity............period
idiots look at them they think people are happy with them ocampo watch out they might snatch your watch lol. these people should alll go home in 2012 am so embarrassed right now.
@karuitha...on the contrary i think you will notice most of the comments here are touting this veracious piece of journalism... These politician dont deserve to represent anyone in kenya.. I do not patronize raila but what I fail to understand is how he supposedly has clout over the ICC..
Walienda kutuaibisha tu huko. Shame on you guys! While hardworking Kenyans around the world are trying to give Kenya a good name and bring investments and tourists, we have elected idiots serving no other purpose than soiling our name despite having the highest MP salaries in the world. The salaries should be slashed and taxed immediately! I hope Miguna's claims that we are paying for this madness will be tabled in parliament, together with the 2 british lawyers kalonzo was talkin about.
I really don't care about who goes to support whom...to the Hague. I don't care what they wear. All I care about is justice, I think NOT about the fat cats who exploit their travel allowances at the expense of the citizens but for those who have to bear the brunt of nature in the cold night fighting with snakes and eating leaves for breakfast of they get to see another day...you know those voiceless people IPDs? Yes I think about them and their justice...not these fat pussy suckers!
Look at these fools wearing the same hat the militia usually wears... what's going on/ Do not vote for any of them come 2012. They should be arrested for supporting murder of innocent Kenyans.
mark the faces of these joy riding MPs and don't make the mistake of voting them in come next year 2012! we don't need such deadweights back in parliament they've had their turn
@Otdog fortunately for our waheshimiwas it is not your vote that will decide their vote. In Kigumo Jamleck Kamau will be elected with even a bigger majority than he got in 2007, in my case Beth Mugo will carry Dagoretti for a record 4th consecutive time more than any other MP before her. Mrs Chebii, Isaac Rutto and co will all win in their areas. It is the people in those constituencies that know what makes these waheshimiwa tick and not u. By the way who is your MP?
@karuitha Do not give up. Fight for what you believe if right and is good. After all, you small contribution can make a change and make Kenya a better place for the children of our children.
John, that cap symbolizes our national colours our national flag, do not demean it by calling the symbol of our man syndrome. I do not like your annalyzis at all. You are no worse than Sally Kosgey calling our flag a kitambaa to help her beat the traffic.
@karuitha My view and with respect of yours is that it is our politicians and not wananchi who have created the mess we have now -- it does not matter which side they come from -- they have collectively done so. That is why for a long time I shall take off my hat from Mutava Musyimi , Mohammed Abdikadir and the like. If one of them or their likes should stand and not trade abuses my vote will be theirs. I am tired of the politicians who think Kenyans have no brain.
@hochwada I once used to think like u but the reality is no matter how much Kenyans like u say, the people in the villages and in the slums will vote these people back to parliament with a bigger majority than they had in 2007. We here may say that we are not going to vote for them but come 2012, the poor mwanainchi in Kigumo will still vote for Jamleck and in Koibatek Isaac Rutto will still carry the day. So no hope for any meaningful change anytime soon.
@karuitha Thank you very much for your respectful comment. I worry a lot like most Kenyans who have many communities who married or are married in their villages. What are their children supposed to think? My best friends are not from my own community -- they are from outside. What am I supposed to think about them? I work with people from different communities and races for that matter. What are they supposed to think of me. More importantly, I do not buy the idea turning a blind eye on evil.
Great reporting John. I appreciate journalists like you and Robert Nagila who expose the mediocrity of the average kenyan. Until we remove this mediocrity Kenya will never move forward. Keep up the good work!
@TheKasupuu - Woiiieee. Wee kamu tu - the nyam chom is still worth it and you can even pick up a ka-cap like Ruto's. You know, we get the kind of leaders we deserve and the one-eyed man is king in the land of the blind. As long we continue to elevate these buffoons to positions of leadership, we cannot then turn around and blame Ocampo for our woes.
