To me, this song seems to be about maturing and changing, if you take into account the PV. But when I first heard it (and I hadn't seen the PV yet), I thought it was more like reaching a goal with someone, but then eventually that someone surpasses you and leaves you, so you try to catch up with that person and manage to, only to find that person gone (probably dead). So you continue where that person left off. Just my opinion.

I love the song :) It sounds so relaxing.

I still prefer to think of it more as a story song that matches my prior description, but the point of moving on beyond the part where your friend surrenders (either the pursuit of the goal or life altogether) is valid, too. ^_^

@Raikirou They have the same voice databank, so, in a way, they come from the same place - I guess that's why they were marketed as mirror images (hence kagamine in their names, which means mirror). Also, I heard somewhere that Rin was an allusion or something like that to "right", and Len to "left".

Either way, it's up to each of us to decide if they are twins or not. I like to think they are myself, since they are cut from the same cloth and resemble each other so much.

@Gotaang112 I'm too lazy to give a detailed explanation right now, but there are two friends walking together along a path, the path splits up, and for whatever reason one of them dies. And alot of other stuff related to that event.

@pikapower96 You and I are walking together. We split up, and neither path is a bad one. However, for some reason or another, you die. "The path will continue endlessly on your back" and "The long long canal, falling along" relate the infinity of death and compares the movement of souls out of bodies to the fall of water at the end of a long river. "The separate roads are intersecting again" refers to me feeling united with you at this place, though you're dead.

@pikapower96 I keep comparing death to waterflow. I refer to your body as an empty shell that "melts" (rots) into the earth, becoming as transparent as the rain. The "pampered beating" is the beating of raindrops on us that we felt when we were wandering and you died. This happened at sunup. How do I know that? The rain was a pretty red, reflecting the sun at dawn.

No, Heaven isn't really crowded, but it sure has a lot of souls in it; so many that it would seem that they'd pile up. I'll never forget this meadow, where we lied in the grass and admired the sky and the rain... I'm confused as to why you died, but that curiosity melts away as your body melts into the ground and the sky melts rain upon me...
