Thanks for sharing these thoughts to ponder on that the eardrum vibrates and mechanical waves are transmitted by the ossicles, three small bones of the middle ear-the malleus, incus and stapes-to the cochlea of the inner ear. I never expected that the semicircular canals, the saccule and the utricle are concerned with the balance and the posture of the body.
if i stick my finger in my ear and i feel a little thing it that my eardrum or a tiny bit of dried wax can you toach your ear drum if you stick it far back i would feel it i damaged it right
I can make a clicking/creaking sound in my ears so i can remove the bad feeling which most people get's on a plane or sometimes by driving inside a tunnel.
It feels like i'm controlling something which is inside my ears!
0:45 The cochlea, a coiled tube filled with fluid, contains the organ of Corti. and what could happen if the cochlea was reversed as a birth defect?? what would be the results or outcome of this condition?
@freyajean i realize that sounds like a stupid question but i am just not a doctor and wondering about the exact sciences of the ear and how the environment may have a cause/effect relationship with birth defects.
@Eilidhiscool111 A GP could make that much clearer for u than any1 here. however it could be anything, sensorineural, maybe a conductive component of hearing loss, u neva know!!!
at 0:41 the wrong nerve is shown. that's the nervus vestibularis comming from the scarpa ganglion. the nervus accusticus(auditory) is the right(lower) one, comming from the corti ganglion and containing the axons of the accoustic tract's protoneurons'.
Once upon a time a snail happend to crawl inside the head of an animal and decided to stay with it's host. That's the blue thing you see in the movie. ;-)
you can go to a doctor and he'll operate your ear (will instal an artificial drumm) or u can stay like that...actually if the eardrum is perforated you won't hear so good, and that;s just it.if you think that if the eardrum is broken you'll be deaf, that's not going to happen.
The ear is the organ of hearing. The pinna of the outer ear collects sound waves and channels them along the internal auditory meatus to the ear drum.
This is so informative and comprehensive.

Why do people dislike this, I mean you came looking for information on the ear, and that is what it gave you.

@Canberra3lites Perhaps because it is about how we perceive sound and the recording is so awful?

Your nerve cells inside your Organ of Corti are dead, and unfortunately there is no way to repair/replace them. Sorry.

The pinna channels the sound along the EXTERNAL auditory meatus not internal.
