The original score of this film moves the scenes along so effortlessly, much like John Psathas’s score in the new Modern Western “Good for Nothing”. I have no doubt that this film will gain a wide fan base as well as make it to the Academy Awards for its score! If you haven’t seen it you need to check out the trailer. youtube . com/watch?v=gRYZNCVeZDY
So I putten this song so my mom would think I was doing my homework instead of watching porn and when it was over she came and said !!!!WHERE'S THE FUCKING NOVEL!!!!!!
tu0et0moi on another video noticed something really clever: the pronunciation of Cee, You and Tea spells out CUNT, a pivitol word in the film. Cee (c) you (U) and (N) Tea (t)
Dario Marianelli is a truemaster of melody and the use of the orchestra; he is a true genius when it comes to pure musical beauty, as is evident in every piece in pride and prejudice, as well as Atonement! :) <3
Brilliant Song!!!! Outstanding composition. It pops up in the movie in unexpected ways, and always incorporates what's going on in the scene!!!!!LOVE IT.
@PrimaveraPictures i'm thinking maybe the inclusion of the sounds like the typewriter, banging the car and things like that ?? I really can't say for certain but when listening to this movie I hear the score and the foley blend into one and I personally haven't heard anything so seamless in any other soundtrack.
The film is magnificent, the music draws your tears from far within your heart and the actors' perfomances are simply perfect.....How can we forget Briony's gaze through the window at Cecilia and Robby by the pool...
I watched the movie 3 times and love the music. I am a fan of Dario Marianelli. He also wrote the music for Pride and Prejudice. Also received a award for this music.
A man and a woman are separated when the woman's little sister accuses her lover of rape charges of her friend under false accusations and a jealousy raging through the little sister. And because of the war, they are separated even further.
I make it sound dull and boring, but it's a really good movie. If you get the chance, read the novel. It's absolutely beautiful.
I know it does really sound boring, and the first 20 mins can be considered so, but I finally watched it. I was doing a school paper and put it on, so I was half involved. Then I had to stop the paper and finish watching it. But I missed the final 20 minuets. I bought it, watched the whole thing, and cried my eyes out. Imma get the book now!!!!!!!!
@musikplayer610 I'm starting to read the novel for the second time. I just thought it was beautifully written. Plus, I think the movie was one of the most faithful adaptations of a book: the places and the MUSIC were fantastic
a rich girl and the son of the maid fall in love. But then the son of the maid gets blamed for the rape of the cousin of the girl. He gets the choise of staying in prison or go to the war in france and holland. The one who blamed him was the sister of the rich girl.. and she tells her story, for what she has done, because when she gets older, she finds out that he wasnt the one who raped the girl. its a complicated story to tell in a few words, but the movie is worth your time and money, really.
i love the cover of this movie/soundtrack. sometimes cecelia will be on the top and robbie on the bottom but either way briony is always seperating the two.
@gracemlinde im not surprised... i was actually listening to pride and prejudice soundtrack and its sounded vaguely familiar to the music i had heard in atonement... and so it lead me to this :)
4:52 is my favorite, the flowing music is perfect for the languid water and the turmoil the pair are feeling

@slimithy13 It declares is love for Cecilia uses seemingly (ahem) INTIMATE diction. It basically says how fond he is of her " sweet c**t"

Why is this a unique soundtrack? as RT puts it. I'm not saying it's bad, just why unique? I believe I've heard a lot of similar scores.

Okay, but just a forewarning: the movie is based on Robbie and Cecila's romance, but the book is based on more of the war.
musikplayer610 2 years ago 3
yeah i was planning to read the book too once i saw the movie. Is the book better im assuming?
violetsky35 2 years ago
Oh yes, indeed, but I'll let you know now that the novel focuses more on the war ships and the movie shows the romance
