  • anyone know when this was filmed?

  • @flashmcnashos probably 2006

  • I've been playing guitar for 6 years and I'm about 1/100th as good as John so if I keep playing I should be this good in 594 years.

  • @skatevans99 me too

  • God.

  • 4:50 cricket incorporating their daughter's right. They should remove this shit it's ridiculous.

  • the arpeggio... god!

  • @YanksFan162 how would you know whether metal guitarists have the same idea of making nice music? metal genre is very nice you just have to be able to appreciate it.

  • i lovvvvvveeeeeee little wingggggggg

  • 7:08....why frusciante is better than all of those metal "shredders" could ever hope to be.

  • He is brilliant.

  • wow..

  • i hate it when high rated comments are a reply or a random comment from the uploader of the video

  • LOVE

  • this guys has injected a shit ton of heroin

  • You can't compare music because how can you compare the feelings of a unique person to another individual?

  • john needs to play little wing for us

  • @rawlingsguy he has!

  • ich will untertitel.. :(

  • WHY THE HELL ISN'T HE NO LONGER A MEMBER OF RHCP?

  • @nielsemilbechnaumann he wants a new experience with music, that rhcp can't give him.

  • 8:35....

  • 5:45

    LMFAOOO

  • this is from g utiar world, i remember watching this a few yaers ago... was so good!

  • all I know is Dave Navaro sucks compared to Frusciante, yet Navaro's way more famous

  • @JohnFruscianteMarkLa hes famous cus he sucks only the famous people fake there shit people that are good(god) just play and get better like JF

  • @JohnFruscianteMarkLa

I think thats just because navarro uses media more... Which is not illegial.

  • i've learned a ton from john, as well as jimi, curtis mayield and jimmy nolen (james brown) and what john says here about being deep in the groove and having fun with it is the most important, way more than anything technical he could tell you. Muting strings to get a choppy, percussive sound is crucial to the funk/soul riff, but once you add that melody to it, those smooth little licks that really fill out the basic chord, you really make that guitar SINGGGGGG.......

  • What is this guy on????????? If he could string more than two coherent sentences together that made sense he might be worth listening to!!!!!!!

  • @ScrumptiousStrat He is Mr John Frusciante to you.. that means your god ;)

  • @MrCold768. Not mine Pal - that's what makes the human race so interesting, we're all different, with different likes, dislikes, preferences, wants and needs - not to mention opinions!!

  • @ScrumptiousStrat you are just intentionally being disrespectful to him.. you dont appreciate anything he's done.. how can you judge anyone if you dont know anything about his/her life? thats just intolerant.. start learning something about life

  • @MrCold768. Disrespect has absolutely nothing to do with it! Read my last post again and then tell me who here is being intolerant?? Just because YOU think he's God does that mean that everybody else has to? THAT'S intolerance! And who ever said I know nothing about him, I didn't - I was simply referring to this video.

  • @ScrumptiousStrat "What is this guy on?????????" wow, thats really tolerant of you

  • @MrCold768. If you were a bit older you would realise that the phrase "What's he/she on..." has been around for a long time and is a generality that is used when a person doesn't know what somebody else is talking about, or they aren't making sense, or they are incoherent or what they are saying is disjointed! Tolerance has nothing to do with it, it is simply a cliche that is used to express surprise or incredulity.

  • @ScrumptiousStrat the psychological background of your comment says different .. quote: "What is this guy on????????? If he could string more than two coherent sentences together that made sense he might be worth listening to!!!!!!!" this is obviously disrespectful comment beacause of your intonation.. if your were a bit more objective you would say something like: "i dont understand clearly what he says, maybe because drugs affected his ability to communicate"

  • Comment removed

  • @MrCold768. This is getting silly; all you are doing now is arguing semantics. When people communicate they do it in their own local vernacular - look at 99% of all the posts on YouTube and you'll understand what I mean; many people only rant and swear and can't string two sentences together coherently! People don't communicate in "politically correct" English unless the occasion demands. I have an Honours Degree in English but I still speak as I have always done. Anyway, believe what you want!

  • @ScrumptiousStrat of course everyone has their opinion.. you dont need to like john frusciante but show some respect to the man that dedicated his life to music

  • @MrCold768. When it comes to respect, perhaps you can explain why such magazines as Rolling Stone, and their ilk, list the Best Guitarists in the World as: Jimi Hendrix No 1, when the likes of John Williams; Segovia; Paco Pena; Django Reinhard etc come way down the list? All these people have dedicated far more of their lives to music than Jimi Hendrix or John Frusciante ever did but where is the respect THEY deserve??? Get your priorities right and see ALL types of music before you judge!

  • @ScrumptiousStrat i dont care about rolling stone magazine, and i dont compare musicians because that's irrelevant .. they should all be respected because of their sacrifice and their passion for music

  • @MrCold768. Whatever. You might not take any notice of the music magazines but millions of people do so if you don't like comparing muscians, which they do, then perhaps you should be lobbying the magazines instead!!

  • Tips from a master

  • where was this originally posted and for what please?

  • Turn on "Transcribe audio" and go to 4:00 . Thumbs up if you laugh

  • @dejangex the whole vid is hilarious with it on xD

  • @dejangex that's because he can talk with his guittar

  • @dejangex go to 5:50 hahah

  • @dejangex Proof that guitars do talk! :D Or at least john can make them talk.

  • @dejangex this is how the mucis talks to you :)

  • @dejangex hahaha go to 5:20 XD

  • Less talk, more rock!

  • anyone have the idea what figure 8 is? ( 5:43)

  • @78locomocion

i dont wanna SEE nothing, i dont have time for this shit, i play miles away better than you, this guy and many many guitarrist, bye asshole, hasta la vista

  • Comment removed

  • @DamianFurioso You suck balls.

  • this guy, in his clinic can teach me to read the paper, the new york time jojojojojoooo

  • there is no ''best'' in music, every single person has different visions and directions that they take there music to ..

  • The crazy thing about john is that the figure8 he just did was nothin to him. i would kill to be able to play and create music like that...

  • john fruciante makes music only he can make. and to me, his music has some of the best sounds I've ever heard. it's music I dream of making

  • Comment removed

  • one thing i really like about frusciante is that he's not a very good vocal communicator. i know that sounds weird and mean, but i'm not dissing him in ANY way imaginable, trust me, i love the guy. but i just think that it's a good quality for a musician to have because it allows them to speak so much more with their music, rather than their words.

  • who is john mayer really though.. LOL.. as an ok guitar player at best.. HAHAHA

  • Why do people feel they have to slam this guy and the whole band. The RHCP are a group of guys that can bring it when asked to to put a group of songs on a cd for profit.. thats it. People will buy it. Thats why they keep doing it. If you wanted to buy a pile of my feces I would take a dump on tin foil and sell it to you. Period.

  • Frusciante is my favorite guitarist in his style of play and his creativity.

  • You Kids really need a musical education. GL

  • Please stop the comparisions with Hendrix, my tummy hurts from laffin' so hard. This guy hasn't the slightest idea musically what Hendrix was about. And besides the funky altered chord Hendrix thing came from Curtis Mayfield I believe...before him ..I don't know.

Nothing against this guy, more power to em' ..But stop the Hendrix comparision thing. Ever hear Axis or Ladyland? geezzz

  • @Tweekerhead yeah because you probably listen to shit that is just fast and has no soul.

  • @SithJohn93 .. And this guy has soul? Is that what you think? The Chili Peppers got soul? aaahh They got Flea...that's about all,

I feel sorry for you kid, if you think this is what "soul" is about, it don't come in a syringe. Go listen to the Derek Trucks thing.....he's got it.

Nearest thing to Hendrix?? LOLOLOL that one never gets old, great joke.

  • What do you have against John? Have you listened to his Solo material? Personally, I never got in to RHCP, but I LOVE John's solo material. The Past Recedes is a beautiful song.

Besides, who is to say John doesn't have soul when compared to Derek Trucks? John has his own style, so does Derek. They are both great players, why not enjoy them both for what they are.

And John does have a Hendrix quality to him, meaning he is as original as Hendrix was, he is a unique musician.

  • @Jartny love JF, but nah you're fucking stupid if you think he's as original as Hendrix. Just think about it. That's all I ask

  • @Bus1588 Nah, I don't mean as original, i mean as unique. He is his own style, its a breath of fresh air.

  • @Jartny haha, cool man, makes sense

  • @SithJohn93 damm right man, shut that pricks mouth

  • you think u know about soul... thats funny

  • john mayer is a douchebag he needs to get his head out of his ass and realize that

  • Never even mention Mayer and Frusciante in the same sentence lol.

I know i just did, no-one needs to reply with some smart-ass feedback...

  • i got a lot out of this tape thanks for the post.

  • John Spacely

  • You know what i love about Frusciante? He reminds me of Norm MacDonald..in the voice and face so, so much! LOL and in a GOOD way :P

fucking love this guy on so many levels...

  • haha yea, and chad looks like will ferell and anthony looks like adam sandler kind of.... they should have pretended to be them on SNL that'd been fucklarious

  • jimi hendrix is better than all your guys that your fighting, like wee lassies about :D

  • Richie Kotzen also uses the thumb technique, just love to get these tips from the professionals that make our lives soundtracks, also fan of Paul Gilbert (Mr. Big) and Nuno Bettencourt (Extreme and Dramagods)

  • my favorite guitarist :)

  • The most diverse guitar player, ever.

  • uhh... jimmy page?

  • jimmy page plays funk, punk, blues, industrial and metal? SICK..

  • are you serious man? comparing frusciante to page just doesn't work man.. the man literally invented hard rock while inserting elements of blues, bluegrass, funk, reggae, heavy metal, folk rock, rockabily, etc. etc...

maybe not punk directly but if you knew a bit about punk music legend, johnny ramone, a big influence of his was jimmy page..

i love frusciante with all my heart but i wouldnt go say he is the most diverse..

  • opinions are nothing

  • @mookieisfraud Frusciante is basically the nearest thing to hendrix you can get, he is massively versatile and has a influencence.

  • Well,

To be honest ...you can't jusify one over the other. Everyone finds pleasure in both obviously. What ever mood I'm in, both serve me well. I thank them both for sharing their gift with us.

  • theres always the douche who needs to compare musicians.

  • haha if you knew how to read, you would know im not comparing. im asking wwho do you think is better. theres always the douche who has no idea what hes talking about.

  • hahaha

  • @moser8 are completely different things

  • @moser8 mayer? what are you retarded?

  • @moser8 What a stupid question......

  • @moser8 depends what way you look at it. overall i prefer fruscainte because mayers just an asshole. :L

  • i cant play with my thumb :(

    my hands aren't big enough

    god bless john :]

  • nice one mate

  • after stadium arcadium he's mi influece

  • Does anybody know when this was?

  • right after they released stadium arcadium

  • Thanks JongM for this vid

    Great Guitarist

  • So, what you're saying is, if jimi hendrix made a mistake he all-of-a-sudden can't play well?

    I don't think that's a very fair judgement.

  • Dude, even the greatest musicians make a mistake... How many times you think Jimmy Page cussed at himself while making the riffs for 'Stairway To Heaven'? Or just playing a C-Chord?

  • Comment removed

  • uhm..

this is a 62 fender strat that hes playing here...

  • It's a 62... He says it a lot.. anthony got it for him when he re-entered the band

  • Everyone else uses distortion and Frusciante can just keep it clean and it still sounds good.

  • guys the guitar is like a 66 or 69 fender strat sunburst (american)

  • Come on dude, It's not a 66 or 69.. It's a pre CBS.. a '62 actualy and it might be with some Seymour Duncan Antiquity pickups :) ( His Tech said so in an interview But not sure if this clip is before or after his original pickups broke)

  • i think its a 62

  • yeh idk i just knowits in the 60's. but yeh its a great guitar.

  • você é o cara !

  • how old is he?

  • he is 39

  • It is not a mexican strat, it's a 60's American. The best guitarist in modern music isn't going to play a second rate Fender guitar. His instruments are like $30,000+ and i have yet to see a Mexi that is that expensive or good. In his own words, "it's too creatively limited for my playing"

  • You haven't looked very far. You sound like an elitist cunt.

  • You dont really know, what you're talking about :) You haven't looked very far ;)

  • erhhhh fuck off with that. Learn some, grammar. Retard.

  • thanks for you're a friendly comment with so much love and respect. that is why i love plattforms like this where everybody is nice to each one of us. xxx sweetheard

  • He says at one point in this filming that it's not showing people what you can do with a piece of wood that has strings on it but rather what you cand do with the notes and the sound...I agree..There are a lot of guitarists out there that play like they have a computer chip inside them but they're playing has absolutly no substance.

  • who else is? hes definitely up there. Him, tom morrello, john mayer even

  • eh, tom morello sounds good, but he doesn't do much, he just economy picks with a lot of effects.

  • modern music of his genre.

  • its a mexican strat. ive seen it with my own eyes!

  • no it isn't get some glasses they didn't make strats in Mexico in the 50's and 60's. Corona California

  • Awesome

  • ki vavvuni

  • how he can be so cool and at the same time so accurate and artistic and melodic...

  • I kan't hear him (and I have all the volume up...)

  • do you know who "THIS GUY" is

  • does he use a mexican japanese or an american strat??

  • American

  • are you for real?

  • yeah yeah. thick cunt.

  • ...must be a yank!

  • dude EVERY good guitar is made an america- so you cant say anything about america faggot

  • Ha ha. I was talkin about YOU not the guitar, like i said - thick yank!

  • Not necissarily, plenty of good guitars are made in America, but it's an opinion to say they are better. ESP ltds are made in Indonesia and Mexico, and where ever, but they sound better than any Gibson imo.

  • bro i understrand its your opinion but better then a gibson? for real?

  • Gibsons are overrated

  • The ones that are made today are overrated, the vintage gibsons are the best guitars along with vintage fenders

  • Thanks Captain Obvious, lol jk, this is true

  • Yeah I played a vintage 1957 strat last week in my local music store...damn I didn't want to leave without it they sound so good and are great to play on! But I can never afford one of those....

  • Definatley, they sound amazing, I have a 1984 strat, made by the guy who used to make 50-60s strats, and it sounds soooo mean.

  • i tried a 57 strat it was beautiful

it had like an inch of its finish left. the wood was beautiful too

    the neck was amazing

im getting an 88 strat for christmas or my birthday. its gonna be my first strat so im really impatient to get it

    <
