well i have one hdd for os x and the other for windows 7, they work very well, i make applications for the ipod touch so i need a mac operating system to get access to the codex ect...
Looks great, congrats Larkdog! I do not know what any of this means, but great job. I have one question. Will it help me check out facebook or porn better?
Our client machines are all managed with firmware passwords. Almost all dual boot solutions we looked at either required the user to have admin rights to the machine, or would require firmware to be wide open. This method we employed allowed us to keep our management and still allow the user to reboot between OSes through a self service policy using the Casper Suite from JAMF software. The users can boot back and forth with out having admin rights and still keeping the machine managed.
Seems like since u only blessed the win. partition for 1 boot, it would have been easier to just tell windows to reboot on the windows side rather than running that flaky mouse click script on apple's boot manager
i realize this is a belated response but i thought that was the whole point of blessing it only once? but nevermind because i just realized you bless a boot drive permanently until you bless another and thats what you do by the mouse click script. in which case the whole "bless for 1 boot only" thing is either incorrect or i dont get what you meant by it
also another comment... why not allow the users to use windows for as long as they like if they ever want / need to use internet explorer for a certain site or something like that?
@mpsrig I am not sure how consistent the -nextonly switch is. That way everything is set permanently each time and what I want to accomplished is ensured. We only needed windows to do one thing, and we only wanted to deal with that one thing. I still had the occasional client get stuck in Windows indefinitely and had to have one of us rebless their drive.
yeah well if ur gonna buy that many retail copies of windows and deal with all this it must be a pretty damn important app with no mac alternative. personally if i were to drop that much extra coin i would want the users to be able to use windows for whatever they needed since it's there anyway rather than forcing them to use it solely for one app which as i said there is probably a mac alternative unless it's autocad which shouldn't be running on macbooks anyway.
There is a lot more to it than just that. We did not purchase retail copies, we purchased a one time edu license for 6,000 machines, which was at a reduced rate, which the developer of the app paid for. This was for assessment testing software. Our school district uses this software to assess students current skill level in certain subjects and then the data is assessed and those students needing help in certain areas get that help. The developer has since then wrapped their application in
the Cross Over API so now we just run that natively on the Mac side. The developer was suppose to release the web based version two years ago but can't get their act together. It has changed and we no longer dual boot. More info can be found on my site
anyway what i meant was that boot camp supposedly requires a 1 disk retail copy of windows and even bulk licensing doesn't bring that down as low as some of the other packages
anyway, i totally respect this knowing the developer paid for it because that to me symbolizes they want to keep their customers even though you switched away from micro$oft.
if they had not done this which is absurdly kind and uncommon, i would have sooner found an alternative and/or not locked down windows.
how do i remove membery from the pc if the member is FULLL!!! and the pc wont start up alll the way but it will let me do into options

As long as you have some service to run the autoIT script and if autoIT works in Vista I don't see why not.

mpsrig-
Well Windows only runs with legacy bios support, and the Mac uses EFI. Not sure if just forcing a reboot would work.
