  • The first couple of minutes is one of the few times I ever think that Il Giardino are not sure what they are doing, for the pieces lumbers ahead without a clue as to an effective direction or view... held together spiritually only by the virile and flavourful continuo playing. But then: at 1:53 lightning strikes and they find a moment. The bassoonist's staccati passages in the second movement are breathtakingly executed.
