See the three girls next to marie i think (now this is my personal opinion and you don't have to agree) that the spoiled there jigs by doing cross and clips. I think you should only do cross and clip if you can jump high.( like marie in her battle of bannock burn video) Well done it was a very nice jig and congratulations on that third. Oh and tell your wife she's a pro at jig outfits!
I think it depends on the comp too, which probably means the judge really! Some times she does terrible whereas she does not seem to have done anything wrong.
I really do believe there is a lot of inconsistency between judges and then I have heard that interstate competitors often get better treatment as they want to encourage dancers to compete interstate!!! Who knows what the logic of it all is!

the reason it is called an "Irish Jig" is because the dancers are in character of an Irish woman. She is supposed to be angry and yelling at her husband, she's shooing the neighbor boys because they have dirtied her clean clothes. That is why there is lots of stomping, fist movements, and why she is wearing an apron :)
I had a look through all your videos and love watching your daughter dance, she is very good and her energy is amazing!
My daughter has only just turned 6 but is doing very well (well I think so anyway) but the most important thing is that she loves to dance and really enjoys it.

She is not an Irish Dancer so there is no need to be offended at her dancing since it has nothing to do with Irish Dance. you don't understand. The dance si titled "irish" jig because the foot movments are more similiar to irihs thna the traditional highland. The arms are all highland. The dance was named a long time ago as well. It is not meant to be offensive in the least bit nor is it meant to be irihs dance.
Dunno whether its right either way, I do not understand the steps (my wife does though). Marie is the small one on te far right. Either way, right or wrong steps, she did place 3rd!

doesn't look like any Irish dancing i've seen. it lloks like a comic parody of irish dance though.

Good on you Marie, don't take any notice of anyone putting you down. you are a good little 8 year old highland dancer.
And you had to dance with that loud mouth in the background! Stick with it, you will love it!

She is doing it the right way there is two different ways to do that step. She's doing it the same way I used to.
I think she is just so cute. That is probably the main reason she won 3rd.

the wee girl in the red is doing the last step wrong,it should be toe shake hop 1234 then heel travel forward 4 xs hope this helps
