@markshmily Still use mountain house. Some cheaper alternatives that I like are the instant potatoes. Just add water. I use them just like the Mountain house in that I pour the water right into the pouch. I hate doing dishes in the backcountry. The instant oatmeal. Same thing, pour water right into the pouch. Cup 'o' noodles. Much of it depends on what trip I'm going on. That will really dictate what I bring.
A Question for u. On your Moonlight escape trip wit nutnfancy youve carried a satchel along wit ur backpack. One that goes around ur stomach, wondering which brand ut is n how much you paid for it. By the way i enjoy ur videos from seoul s. Korea. Im originally from ny living n working in Seoul. Thanks for ur work, i get less homesick
The beauty of what Heavenly Father has created is what you like about that area. Time to think and clear the mind and relax. What an area to enjoy your meal. Thanks for share.
If you like mountain house(I sure do). Check walmart. They have them in the hunting area and if you can hold off until deer season is over they all go on clearance.
Wow it's beautiful out there. I plan on heading out there this summer to backpack. Really looking forward to it. Thanks for taking the video camera with you...I know it takes extra energy to film on hikes...ppl don't understand until they do it.
Yes, taking the camera does add extra work. But I do find it fun. Hope you enjoy your time this summer. I can't wait to get up there again. I have spring fever bad.
I hear ya. I'm getting spring fever bad. I'm thinking about all these trips I want to go on this upcoming season, but have no idea how to fit them in timewise.
I went up the following weekend and fished on that trip. This trip I didn't have time to obtain my license. After watching the fish jump, I was really craving fresh fish.
Agreed. If I got a job out of state, it would have to be an extremely good job for me to leave the mountains/outdoor activities around here. Honestly, don't know if I could leave.
So are you still not buying the mountain house meals? What do you now for meals besides bacon?

@GungHo1032 It was fun. Fun to reminisce about having been there years before with some old friends too.

I'm not sure I'd set up real close to the base of that rock formation with all the signs of rock deposition. Chancey!

@ooberzoobersober That's something I evaluated when there. Felt very comfortable where I was.

what camera are you using?
is the weight worth it to bring?
how much does it cost?
do you recommend it?
milesgiordani 1 year ago
@milesgiordani Older camera Sony DCR-HC38 (should have a newer version out)
Weight isn't a huge thing with me (although I do consider it). I feel it is definitely worth it.
Cost around $300 maybe for the newer version (just an educated guess)
Recommend it. Yes, but you must consider that the mini dv technology is a little outdated. Most manufactures are going in a different direction.

Next time you can find some yarrow crush it up and rub it all over your self and it will keep those little vampires away.
