  • It is a Very real part of Japan , I have Japanese friends , and Live in Japan , But I can speak Moderate Japanese and I am a Musician , those 2 things give me at least a little bit of an "Open Door" but .......There are Closed doors , There are a Lot of people struggling very hard , Add to it 3/11 and the Massive amount of Evacuees The " Hinan hito " They are the focus of so many Help systems while the Working Poor go unnoticed . But when you compare tp Greece and Italy and Syria ...........

  • @strungup66 poor Japan sits on the ring of fire so disasters could happen any time. Many ppl have lost their house and stuff. It is a bit too much for me. Don't think I can cope....

  • i really enjoyed that :D how sweet!

  • this is an excellent documentary and a wonderful complement to my book, black passenger yellow cabs: A Memoir of Exile and Excess in Japan. There are problems here, but I've been here since 01 and its home. But I am very glad I'm not japanese. I love being a foreigner in japan.

  • @blackpassenger ah cool. I'm glad you like it there. Enjoy living aboard!!!

  • @WeAreWorldTV I don't live abroad, I simply live. jamaica 15 years, US 14 years, england 7 years and now japan 11 years.

  • @blackpassenger wow great! Btw, you must be quite old 15+14+7+11=47 lol I'm kidding. You are cool though :)

  • @WeAreWorldTV yeh man, i am pretty old. its just bloody unbelievable that I'm almost 50 years old. loads of experience. I'm in the process of shooting a docu on african american japanese american relations during ww2, and how some african americans hide japanese americans and safeguarded them from internments in the camps. I'm shooting it especially for nhk and its called waruii gaijin. by the way, you should check out my book black passenger yellow cabs. let me know what you think

  • @blackpassenger cheers i'll have a look and let you know what i think ahh cool!!!

  • I just watched this a while ago in LinkTV. I am impressed about the film. Behind the alluring facade of Japan is a disturbing reality. My mom lives in Japan with my younger sister with her new husband. And recently they're struggling with debts and financial problems. My mom always cry when we talk on the phone. I'm working hard to move her and my sister here in Chicago. Also a randomly, I was watching Samantha Brown's travel in Japan before I watched this. Indeed, Japan is a country of polarity

  • @alwaysthirsty100 yeah I agree. You have mega rich and mega poor ppl. It is like this in some countries. I would say Thailand is similar to Japan. Hope you and your fam are ok. Things will get sorted in the end.

  • An "hidden" side of my beloved Japan

  • this is truly beautiful something that shed light on things no one want to accept.

A society that destroy the mind and soul, a couple who struggle showing the relationship between each gender. The emasculated intelligent man who lost everything, a society that suicide is almost normal. A system that reform everyone to become robot and the cultural to hide emotions from others. This is truly a piece of work to demonstrate how human one can be even in this state. Absolutely beautiful

  • @TimeManInJail im glad you like it. everybody has hard times. They should use it as a challenge to make themselves stronger. If you are strong you can live your own way. The reason why some ppl get stuck in there own countries culture is because of a lack of information. They don't know any other way of living or don't want to know / are not allowed to know :)

  • Haha, the reason why Japan hasn't opened iteself to him is because on the average Japanese people don't speak English very well. And as he looks different than them, they know to avoid talking to him as not to come into an embarrasing situation. That's the simple truth of the matter.

  • @JoshuaNorton yeah language is one of his problems. To be honest I think it is his fault that he can't be arsed to learn Japanese as it is completely different from English. When you learn new language you also learn new culture. You need to be very adaptable. Communication is not just about ability to use language but how to start and maintain or develop a conversation and that's a skill :)

  • @JoshuaNorton don't think he knows a lot of jap language. Need to look at how he uses his foreign language as well. It is like that every where. It is your job to learn their language and culture cuz you are in their country and use it as a tool to get info. and get to know jap ppl. Follow the locals lol btw, SFG and its metafunctions rock!!!

  • @nurz33 u r so mean. sfg rock cos you rock it. it's too abstract for most people ;D

  • SHAMEFUR DISPRAY

  • @WykopTunes Why? Can you explain?

  • @WeAreWorldTV It's a meme

  • Think it focuses more on a couples life rather than the scenery. It is good though.

  • Interesting doc.

Just a little point we should all take into consideration though is the locations of where the documentaries are taken.

If someone is doing a documentary about England, clearly they will have a very picture if they did a documentary in New Castle in comparison to a documentary in downtown London. The same goes with a documentary in the US, it would be very different if you it was conducted in Kansas or LA.

In this case Yamagata, is a very very rural area, nothing like Tokyo.

  • @nickharris86 interesting point! but dont forget there are poor areas in every city even in london, nyc, etc. i do believe not everyone that lives in the city is rich :)

  • i hope this can be broacast in China. chinese people need to know more about average japanese people, instead of keeping picturing them as evil invaders.

  • @metameros exactly and that happened over 50 years ago. things change ppl change :)

  • I enjoyed it a lot. It is strange. I didn't know Japanese can speak English. Great clip you the uploader must have a good heart. I subbed! Upload more clips!

  • @nickyaheart no it is not. Many jap ppl speak English very well now or at least they can speak pidgin English. Get out of your cave hahaha kidding x

  • @nurz33 I say what I think. I never go to Japan, don't have Japanese friend and live in the cave! Come help us paint the walls instead of following me. Sub this channel. You like documentary films, yeah? Hahhhahhhha

  • @nickyaheart thank you. im doing it for fun and i love watching documentary films. i have loadssssssss thats why i need to put them on youtube lol need to get rid of them!!!

  • Okay cool! You sound just like my friend I swear you do! Thanks again for the clips

  • This is brilliant thank you! I hope it stays online! Please let me know if you upload any other good Japanese docs!
