I think Dolan is playing with fire here, but I think he is a skilled politician.
That is, SFX at least gets homos a proximate view to the Sacraments. We can hope and pray that it catches and gives them a deeper, more perfected sense of Catholicism.
I really don't know. Part of me says "Anything to get them in the rooms" , and part of me says - "They are nothing but an insoluble, whiny, selfish, loudmouthed demanding problem - let's not bother!"
Another Catholic news source is reporting that there is reason to believe Dolan will be made Cardinal in October. Realcatholictv: would you be able to confirm or deny this information? I pray it does not come to pass.
Good point, 1600ny. We must not forget that Egan and Dolan walked hand in hand into SFX. Is urbanh196398105 going to tell us that Egan had no idea what was going on during his tenure in NY? One can readily see the implausibility of that stance. God save the Church from such such as they.
Urban It's always disturbing when a Bishop reveals himself to be, ahem, less than faithful to the teachings of the CC, but it helps no one to make ridiculous excuses for him. Dolan is the AB of NY. It is his JOB to know his parishes. SFX's promotion of the active gay lifestyle is in its very identity. Have you not looked at their site? Dolan knew what was happening that day - as did his predecessor Egan who told us that this is one of the "great, great parishes of the world." Open your eyes
The reason our Church is in such a state of confusion is the Bishops have failed to guide the sheep and protect the truth. They have become CEO's rather than sheppards of the flock. The Bishops and all of us will answer to God in the next life, but the bishops answer to no one in this life. The Bishop should respond to this video not urbanh. Where is he? It's time the truth be told and the wolves exposed. The best way for evil to triumph is for good people to say nothing and do nothing.
FYI. A bishop's words, actions, mind, and spirit must be in conformity with Holy Mother Church, Her teachings, and Her Pope. How do you watch the video and claim that Dolan meets that criteria?
By trying to misconstrue what is clearly on the video (showing Dolan's OWN WORDS AND ACTIONS) you thereby expose YOUR OWN knowledge that Dolan is guilty of scandalous behavior.
Why are you bending over backwards to ignore facts? This is a well-known, longstanding, actively gay parish. Zwilling et. al. would be WELL AWARE of this. If by your wildest imagination Dolan didn't know, he should be removed for extreme incompetence and Zwilling should be fired. Had Dolan been hoodwinked, he should be shouting from the pulpit in St. Patrick's that this parish will be shut down and that he personally condemns its activities. How do you explain his lack of outrage? You can't.
Archbishop Dolan is a good man. You are misguided in smearing him. it is not possible for him to know all the details of everything in New York City. If you want to help him out find some actual information and share it with him - in other words do his leg work for him - don't smear him.
@urbanh196398105 We are smearing nobody, although you seem quite eager to smear us. Watch our report again - we make nothing up. We show the video and use HIS OWN WORDS.
And why should we have to do the leg work for him? He KNOWS that goes on at that parish - he told them not to march in the parade and they defied the spirit of his instructions. So, why is he tacitly accepting them?
Good men don't stay silent - unless they want evil to happen. Burke said something similar to that.
@RealCatholicTV Archbishop Dolan is a good man and a good bishop who has appeared on EWTN. If he made a mistake i am confident it was based on a lack of information or else bad information. If you prefer to criticize him publicly instead of privately that's your call. If you don't want to help him out with gathering information and prefer to criticize him publicly that's your call too. I stand by the bishop, not you. Ask pointed questions, but publicly criticizing a good bishop is misguided
@urbanh196398105 And you (once again) ignore what we have posted. We cannot communicate with him - he does not respond. So how can we talk privately?
So what if he appeared on EWTN? He ALSO appeared at a Mass where a pro-gay group was honored and has supported them. He has issued a statement which is at odds with his previous condemnation of them.
We HAVE gathered information - info he already had! He doesn't need our help to do the right thing - he just needs to do it. He's not.
I'm a convert to the Catholic Faith, I am deeply ashamed. There is no defense for my church on these matters except that just maybe these rogue bishops and USCCB adminisTRAITORS believe if all those who avoid learning, teaching and doing the will of God according to Holy Scripture and the Catechism, departed tomorow, then the pews and the offering baskets may be empty Sunday.Just maybe these Bishops and traitors are confusing WWJD with "what would JUDAS do?'But, sadly, thats not much of a defense.
Courage/Encourage is an EXCELLENT organization! But it's website needs a MAJOR over-haul. can anyone with website skills lend them a hand? Their current website has been sparse and difficult to navigate on for a long time. Furthermore, they are sitting on some great audio resources from their conferences that aren't advertised very well.
@Jim5150jvc Our webmaster (who designed our RealCatholicTV website) would be happy to volunteer; but it always seems gauche and rude to go to someone and say "Your website needs work" . . . :)
In the wake of 9/11, New Yorkers have been on heightened alert. Everyone is urged to be aware and speak up concerning possible suspicious activity. The slogan "If you see something, say something." reminds us that EVERYONE is responsible for our safety. We take this very seriously in NY. Terrorists used OUR planes as we well know. Our Faith is being hijacked by the enemy within. We have an obligation to speak up to keep each other safe. "Let's roll."
Google St. John Eudes' quote that begins with "The most evident mark of God's anger and the most terrible castigation He can inflict upon the world are manifested when He permits His people to fall into the hands of clergy who are priests more in name than in deed..." The whole quote is too long to post here, but it is very apropos. It's worth googling and worth remembering.
Great comments, one and all. Michael tells us (and we know) the gay lifestyle is an "Objective Disorder, Intrinsicly Evil". It is ODIE-ous (read odious). Hence, why would Dolan cheer them on? Why would he and others ordain active gays as priests? Why would he be going to Ireland to the seminaries? He obviously supports active gays and he is not in communion with the Pope. Everyone should email the Pope at: benedettoxvi@vatican.va Luckily, the internet allows our voices to be heard.
So sad for me, an Irishman, to see that the Archbishop is cowtowing to the gay lobby. I had hoped he might do something with our national seminary, but now I don't know.
Actions speak louder than words. Another wimpy prelate, who has a clearly undeserved reputation of being faithful, caving in to the homo-lobby. So he gets adulation from homosexuals and the secular world? What good is it if a man gains the whole world, which is far more than a homosexual pat on the back, but loses his soul? Archbishop Dolan has much to answer for.
Sigh......Do I really want to expose my children to this rot in the Church ???? This person is in a position of power within the Catholic Church. Where is the process to review his and his Churches actions.....It appears they are a law onto their own.
St. Francis Xavier has had problems for *decades*. John Cardinal O'Connor had to kick Dignity out in 1987 but it seems that it has never really left, even if it no longer carries that name.
This church is close to Union Square, and so some of us is have ended up there when we need to get to mass from Union Square. The first thing I noticed was the celebrant (priest) was wearing ear rings. There were abuses all through the mass, and a man tried to chat me up there ( I am a man). I told my friend about this and she told me she ended up there on a HolyThurs and found everyone was bathing each others feet, and it seemed to give a creepy vibe. It was not what Christ had in mind.
Archbishop Dolan's response does not jibe with his direction to St. FX not to carry a banner in the Gay Pride parade. On some level he knows the scandal but doesn't have the guts to confront it head-on, and instead either tries to convince himself that St. FX is doing the work of Courage or tries to make the rest of us think he believes it. BTW, does anyone think for a minute that the pastor at St. FX isn't himself gay? If he isn't in the Courage camp, he's a bomb waiting to go off.
How disturbing that Dolan gave the parish's "party line" about parishioners "returning to the sacraments". Does he really think we are this naive? Dolan has made it clear that he supports the garbage St. Francis Xavier is spewing. So we have yet another Bishop abetting the rainbow agenda. When will it end? As an aside, currently on the Church's website is a picture of the Pastor dressed up for the annual "Cabaret".
This bishop can't possibly believe this. What other group of sinners organize themselves into group that literally boast of there sins & parade about w/ signs declaring their sins to the world? Where's a fornicators, or adulterers, or masturbators group? Really, I'm sick of bishops being politicians balancing conflicting constituencies off agains each others. Saying one thing to "conservatives" & something else to "liberals."
I am so happy that you have stayed on this story. Please continue to monitor Dolan. Your authentic voice is exactly what we need to clean out the infestation here in NY and in the Church. Keep up the good work.
Absolutely appalling!!!Do they read the Bible at all???I will pray hard for the American Church, call on all the Angels & Saints to interced for us to convert these non-Catholic Catholics!!
I want to congratulate my brothers and sisters of "courage" who are struggling with SSA. They're an awesome testimony of a christian lifestyle. I just wish there were MORE catholic ministries and apostolates..
Thank God for your reports.
We real Catholics need to find this out.
Congratulations again!
I hope (impossible) but still hope that only true Catholics are watching these videos.
May God bless you and your staff Michael.
