It took intelligent design to make this, copying Nature, but evolution did it all by accident by turning scales into feathers on a lizard that stood on two legs.
That ornithopter was no doubt powered by a lithium-polymer battery. When those batteries are punctured they let out a violent flame like a blow torch. If one of those seagulls had got to close and punctured the battery it would have been raining fried chicken.
People, please, the REAL birds were freaked out by that thing. Although it is a very nice example of modern technology, the natural elements of the world say otherwise. Keep it real!! Typical german over-engineering. Man's undoing.
That was really cool. I've never seen an ornithopter fly so well. Loved it when the seagulls began attacking it. Evidently the seagulls were impressed too!
The military is going to jump on this like stink on shi* as a spy vehicle as well as a drone. Now we need to grow some legs so it can stand and snatch some documents off a desk and then leave that white stuff behind!
All in all - its a incredible feat and as one user said if Da Vinci could see this!
the seaguls are attaking!!

In further development, these robotic birds will learn how to drop hand grenades in order to bring democracy to resource rich countries....

In future they will have to mount tazers on these robots to deal with angry birds

The birds are attacking the robot, they aren't 'hanging out in a flock'. They probably think it is a competitor or a bird of prey.
