  • Hes so TYPE that i cant AMAZING correctly! <-- see what i did there?

  • 11 people don't like Chris dave Smh y ?

  • I've admired "Papa" Jo Jones and Chris Dave for their fun-loving swagger behind the kit. "Papa" still is the man, but this guy is perhaps my favorite modern drummer. He just plays with freedom.

  • Now that some ish.

  • One of the GREATEST ever. The rythyms and patterns he comes up with are out of this world. He plays between the beats BETWEEN the beats and makes it look effortless.

  • He teamed up with Pino and D'Angelo for D's upcoming comeback tour!

  • holy fuck

  • Not human is correct!!!! Chris is sick!!!!

  • not human.

  • anyone know the name of the song

  • @Vmacin1 I think it's Jelly's Da Beener.

  • next level

  • swag

  • Some drummers are on time. Some drummers chase time. In this instance, I think time is chasing Chris. Wow.

  • This man got the music in him

  • Chris u betta play

  • Whoa? Who would dislike this video??

  • @DTBExperiment People who accidently pressed it wanting to put their volume louder

  • I can't hear a pattern....cause Chris don't NEED patterns!

  • dang... thats fuckin sik

  • rofl. He's not a troll. hes a Travis Barker fan, you can tell by the username.

People really really don't understand what drumming is... anyone can play a 2-4 beat, but its not about playing it, its about how you play it.

  • @chrisgr00ver fuk u m4n dn't talk sh*t abut tarvis

  • @DrummerGod182 Don't know if trolling or retarded...

  • I didn't particularly like this for like the first 20 seconds then I was just blown away.

  • what song is this?

  • @boybawang9997 Jelly's Da Beener - Glasper

  • wats this song called

  • You can see the women already accumulating around him...

  • @breathcatcher666 How is it musical masturbation? From what I see you don't understand what they're playing.

These guys have toured the world learning their craft so they know how to play from the most simple to complex shit out there.

  • Is that an ozone crash with rivets on the far left?

  • chris kills da jazz mix during the festival Jazz at vienne ...amazin' technical smouthy wrists ...he was with the robert glasper xperiment of course...just to tell he loves Vodka mad as fuck :p

  • That guy gets alot of gigs.

  • mindblasting, extraordinary, exceptional. \m/ rock on!

  • it's not drumming it's art

  • That's probably the BEST SNARE I'VE EVER HEARD!!! X-)

  • I'm going to fucking lose my mind if I listen this any longer!

  • The thing he's playing on the cymbal and the cross-stick is actually just a variation of a Tony Williams lick.

  • @ThePhodut It's actually the swiss army triplet rudiment with a flat flam :)

  • @betterbeatz rite you are! I'm pretty sure Tony Williams used it in a lick sometime, though. Anyway it's a fun little pattern to use.

  • @ThePhodut Yeah, I just got into the old jazz stuff, and I noticed chris doing a lot of things that Tony used, and the swiss army triplet is a well used tool in tonys tool box.

  • He's so talented that the unfamiliar mistake him as amature.

  • his dynamics are ridiculous, one of the best jazz players out there

  • kick off towards the end...apart from that ok

  • @didgeHague It's deliberate dude

  • @didgeHague Chris does a lot of trippy stuff. It might sound like a mistake to those not familiar with him, but it's all intentional.

  • That`s not an talent. That`s some f%ckin labaratoric genue, that`s in his vanes and fuck`s our branes

  • @Kaposts22 hmm, thats not true, he skilled but not as you'd think.

  • Of how he can play whatever the duck he wants and it doesn't affect the music around him.

  • anybody know what ride hes got on his right? sounds purdy.

  • @wagglemonkey Ozone with rivets?

  • @stix92 ah sorry i meant left. one by the hi hat. i have the same ozone hes got i think.

  • @wagglemonkey Ahh I see, no worries.. Some kind of ride buts its very purdyyy, i saw the experiment on tuesday.. absolutely blew my mind to pieces... :)

  • a meditative state

  • Is it just me or does it look like he high cuz he has no emotion or anything while smashing. No change in facial expressions or none of that. He's smashing way too hard to make it look that easy. Im for real. It seems so unreal. Lol!

  • @MrUSChopper06 He always has that. Cool as a serial killer.

  • Cor blimey you have to be dead deaf not to hear a genius!

  • @MrJonny9988 I think you're kidding... but to each his own. I don't see how you could ever compare Travis Barker's technical ability to this guy's... Questlove is a great drummer. This guy is on another level.

  • @MrJonny9988 hahahahhahahahha

  • @omegarox Jelly's Da Beener

  • wao true talent here amazing taste

  • this guy's got a few screws loose... in such a good way

  • this dude is nasty!

  • I wonder if he realises how fucking cool he looks.

  • can somebody give me an idea of what kit this is? also what kind of symbal is the one on OUR far left (his right)?

  • @eeeyyyeee

Can't say about the kit, but the crash he's using is an O-Zone.

I might be wrong, but it sounds too warm for an AAX, so it's probably a 17 or 18" HHX O-Zone crash O_O

  • @eeeyyyeee well I think it's a yamaha kit...not sure though..

  • @eeeyyyeee Don't know what kind of kit he uses, but the cymbal you are talking about looks like an O-Zone crash cymbal with rivets in it.

  • 2:02 and beyond!! was amazin stop it bruh stop!!

  • To fuck around like this in 7 is just off the hook.

  • pretty special. thanks for posting.

  • the funny thing is I had to pee real bad, but could'nt allow myself to press pause lol.

  • When I see guys this good, I want to kill myself.

  • His band must have insanely solid time between them to be unphased by what he's playing. Terrific drumming, but you need a great band to pull off this sort of thing.

  • 1:10 serious...

  • STOP COMPARING......EVERYBODY BRINGS SOMTHING DIFRENT!!!!!! daves jus does it 1 of he best ways..

  • @Mccritical80 truth

  • duuuuuuuuuuude, thats awesome

  • De la part des petits jeunots sur youtube surts d avoir tout pigé!

    Phrasé inimitable BlaAa BlaAa BlaAa!!

  • In is body language, he looks like he's bored. LOL!!!

  • I never thought the stuff chris dave does could be played!!

  • sick

  • can't compare genius...

  • Jamire Williams has a video playing this same song... I don't understand the comparison of these two very different styles. Love them both.

  • I love that expression he does 1:08 where he does that roll on the snare and floor tom. So relaxed lol

  • whats this song called?

  • @drmattae Jelly's Da Beener enjoy ^^

  • You just nasty, Piano player showin off at the end. love it

  • i saw "The Influencers", and then I searched for Robert's movie theme...and then, I like so much the drums there and I'm here.....that's why life is amazing for people who have curiosity. I could simply turn on TV, watch Gaga and Katty Perry and follow the dumb way. But I would probably lost this amazing drummer...and lost this amazing feeling! SOOO GOOOOOD!

  • 1:44 that melody makes me feel so nostalgic I love it so much...

I don't even try to understand the rythm here! That Chris Dave guy is sick!

    !Nat!

  • @CannonballPhil sounds kinda like I Love You from the live album

  • this cures my headaches

  • @brad5191 : lol!

  • Although this guy looks stoned as hell (and somehow bored at the beginning) he just kicks ass.

Would be great to see him and Glasper live...

  • 0:57....... Why? Why such cool ideas?

  • This is the perfect video for up and coming drummers. You don't need a 28 piece kit to blow minds.

  • i love dat jazz like hip hop... he snapped

  • Such a badass player. I'd kill to play with a drummer of this calibre.

  • He truly is the "Most Dangerous Drummer Alive"

  • @ValentinoSoirez check out george spanky Mccurdy....he is hot too

  • @ValentinoSoirez

Every drummer is different...he's the most dangerous Chris Daddy Dave that is for sure. Sensational!

  • This cat has an amazing sense of time and unreal chops

  • I like what someone wrote, "this guy is the new Tony Williams". I loved the way Tony Williams's playing was not just about tecnique. This guy definately falls in that category. There are many drummers that great chops, we all can name many of them. But to me, the guys that really stand out are the ones that have their own identity and ideas. For me, Tony Williams was one, Bian Blade and Eric Harlan come to mind, and now I have to add Chris Dave.

  • @Timbalero561 agreed but i'd have to add Jeff Watts ;)

I saw Chris 11 years ago with Kenny Garrett and he was already killin but i'd never have imagined he'd turn into...that!!!!!!!! 8P This guy truly is somethin else! his trio with Foley is absolutely insane as well...

  • Redonx. And in 7/8 the whole time?! What a beast!

  • Johnston Middle School's Finest

  • at 1:11 that is some groovy shit

  • Took 'em till 20 minutes after the gig to realise he was having a seizure.

  • Dam, i saw him on Tv playing soul music with Eryka Badu, hes so smooth.

  • What the hell is a Gravity Blast?

  • @DrShrinker the same as the "freehand technique" look up johnny rabb, he does it all the time

  • @nimajnebenneb

Thanks. Didn't know it was the same thing. Cheers.

  • @CannonballPhil

    Oh, cool. Thanks!

  • which hi hat he use?

  • 2:01 a "gravity blast" on the hi-hat (?)

  • @Deathcult333 na he is using two sticks.

  • @Deathcult333 Nope, he just uses two sticks in one hand, one on top and one beneath the hi-hat

  • This tune sounds a little like Downtime on Double Booked... but much better.

  • I remember when i first saw this vid and i was like " wow! jazz can sound like that?!hmm. Some real innovaters right here.

  • What's the name of this song?

  • Yeah, agreed, Mark Guiliana and Chris Dave is where its at for drummers.

  • he's amazing but so is the pianist and bassist. great trio. period

  • so much soul and technique at the same time.

  • why does he make it look it so effortless damn. you're too good!!!

  • have chris dave and spanky ever done anything together ? i feel after tony passed, chris dave is the future, and spanky is right up there after chris, no disrespect. both got that thing going which i can't explain.

  • Best trio in the world.

  • jamire williams isn't bad

  • Chris Dave is so great....real awsome drummer....BUT STILL THERE IS NO NUMBER ONE CLEAR BEST....DO THE RESEARCH

  • 1:00 that kick comes in so sweet...ah make me drool more lol

  • Questlove sent me here

  • Probably one of the more creative drummers I've ever seen.

  • Chris Dave and Mark Guiliana are the future.

  • it seems that his manerisms are reminiscent of those when playing hip hop? that gives quite an interesting feel to jazz in my point of view.

  • @zinnful very interesting feel

  • tony is tony chris is chris!

  • @jrock162000 1 word this is a good example of a great perseption of time

  • homeboy went to my school HSPVA!!!

  • nasty .

  • simply. not. fair.

saw him live only once... thats the only thing that came to mind the entire show.

  • dont know about y'all but im hearing melodies coming out of those drums

  • @SampleFacts hell yea. love it.

  • I hope someone like this guy signs on the cruiseship I'm working on, and my band leader DIES of a heart attack!!!

  • this cat is amazing

    next generation drummers

    like thomas pridgen...

chris dave is in a flow of being the next tony w

  • is most of this in 7/8? i'm listening to the piano and trying to count but dave's playing is throwin me off bad haha

  • 7/8. right on the money.

  • yep, 7/8

  • ooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!

  • amazin!!

  • whats tha name of this song and is it on robert glaper's album?

  • Jelly's da Beener

  • well said though i dont think this cant be definied as gospel drumming in my opinion since this kind of playing is sometimes heard in bebop

  • besides search chris dave and kenny garret and you see what i mean

  • be a condescending asshole on youtube doesn't make you funny, or liked

  • show me a gospel drummer who plays like Chris Dave, and i'll go to church.

  • he started playing in the church.....

  • Chris Coleman. In my opinion, He and Dave are neck and neck.

  • @ezekielvictor spanky mccurdy, chris dave is always mentioned on his vids

  • @ezekielvictor Chis Coleman and Calvin Rodgers.

  • @ezekielvictor gods not real and id go to church to see that lol. chris dave is the man.

  • Very, very nice playing.

  • Now this is to have timing! 5*

  • Jazz drummers are the best.

  • That's right!

  • @Jdubeats unfortunately, as he stated himself, he is NOT a jazz drummer

  • @mechanizatorius Really? That's interesting, I just took a guess by observing the technique. Well whatever his technique may be, it's really cool.

  • @youthscrew Are you stupid?

  • @Ilovetoplayjazz

    no, just a fact.

jazz is hard to play, but dm... what you think about necrophagist?

search "necrophagist drumer". after I will ask you " are u stupid" ;)

  • @youthscrew

ps: I cant play dm or jazz btw. but I try both of them.
