My dad caught one that kept getting into our attic, I sat by the trap and fed it stuff. It seemed fairly tame but you could never trust it once you let it out...

Raccoons will almost never harm anyone if you keep clear of them, don't try to harm them and just let them go back to the woods. Most "rabid" racoons are simply racoons with canine distemper or who have been poisoned. Rabies is quite rare.
Starved raccoons will try to attack domestic animals simply because they are hungry.but this, again, is quite rare. Raccoons in groups are more aggressive than lone raccoons and female raccoons with kits to feed can be very aggressive to protect them.

Why is everyone mad at this person? I assume they had to catch the raccoon because it was too close to their home with children and/or pets. This is a humane trap, I am sure they let the raccoon go somewhere where it is not a danger to others or itself and where it can roam free away from humans. That is what most people do.

Plus the majority of cats are owned by lazy people (usually white trash) because they dont have to take them out or train them, they just let them in and out as they please and having a cat requires no effprt in comparison to a more enjoyable animal such as a dog.

Raccoon Cons: Eats Chickens, Screams in the night, eats cat food, eats cats, bad temper, attacks dogs, climbs in chimneys, digs up garden, tears apart garbage, awful scream, poops everywhere, tears apart things you wanna keep, steals anything shiny, lives in places you need, and overall just mean.
They're cute and all, but I can't let them stay. Also, they are perfectly capable of surviving in a cage for a few hours, they're tough.

Just today I saw a raccoon try and kill a small cat we have on our farm to eat it. It pushed it off a 15-foot hayloft and then chased after it. Not sure if it got it because I was running to go get the .22. Do your research, people.

Why is everyone mad at this person? I assume they had to catch the raccoon because it was too close to their home with children and/or pets. This is a humane trap, I am sure they let the raccoon go somewhere where it is not a danger to others or itself and where it can roam free away from humans. That is what most people do.
