Thank you for the video. I am a Dine' living in the Philippines with my Filipino wife. She is learning the history of our great people and this video has helped her understand who I am and where I come from. I do miss my homeland but I am here to be with my wife.
I'm Navajo and I currently live in Orem Utah. I go to school with all white kids. For my government class I did a project on the long walk. I even brought some kids in my class to tears. I told them my families personal story. I love my culture, its hard sometimes to be in a school with all white kids because they will call you names but I don't let it get to me. I'm proud to be native.
Doesnt seem the American Government has progressed one little bit. Its like a punch drunk fighter. Just looking for another fight. People you can stop this. (Australian). The voice of one is very powerful.
I pray that this never happens again on American soil or anywhere else in the world. May you come to know the love of Yahweh and His Son Yahushua. May the peace that passes all understanding be yours eternally. My Great Grandmother was of the great Cherokee Nation! I carry her in my heart and I abide in Spirit with Yahweh and Yahushua forever. Yahushua shed His blood for the remission of our sins. We who repent and believe in Him have life eternal.
My heart hurt so much when I saw this, my prayers are with you and your ancestors are not forgotton. I try to make everyone aware of the atrocities afflicted on your ancestors. One day I want to be in your peoples' presence. I am hoping to make it to the SunDance in July.
This is a great video but the thing that disturbs me is the pow wow music. It would be nice to have a traditional Dine' song played. Great video once again...
@ansomo1 The thing that disturbs me is the life without the Spirit of Yahweh. The thing that disturbs me is the life without the Spirit of the Son of Yahweh, Yahushua. The thing that disturbs me is the spirit of evil that motivated the orders from the American Government to be carried out in such a savage way. The thing that disturbs me is the unthinkable possibility that this could occur again on American soil or elsewhere in the world for that matter. :-(
my great great grandmother went through this which is my dad'd grandma.. it's sad cause of what the white people did to us all those years! they stole every thing we had.. our traditions, homes, everything!! this is why every navajo hates white people.. well not all.. this was a sad time of what our family had to go through
I really enjoyed watching this video. I believe it is very educational. I would like to use it in a Lesson Plan that I am creating to teacher 4th graders about the Navajo people and their suffering on the Long Walk. Would that be okay with you the creator?
@nanebah I would also like to use your video in a demonstration for a college course that I am taking. I am to write a script to teach to a class. I found that your video seemed clear and understandable. Rhonda
When I feel weak or unfulfilled, I remember and it gives me strength! I do not hold the hate or anger in my heart, because the people responsible have long since died. However, I remember and it gives me strength! Be strong my brothers and sisters, we are here and we (the Dineh) remember and it gives us STRENGTH! Thank you nanebah.
its reflecting many remembers deep inside my heart in a deep deep sense faraway from the sacred homeland... sincery in in deep touch with the sky and the holy erth under you feets...
this is a good video! i enjoyed watching it! I have so much hate toward the white people because of what my grandma went through. she saw her sisters and mom get raped and killed!
Hi Thank you for sharing this video with me I found it both very enlighting and moving. It is difficult to understand how one human race can inflict such horror and suffering upon another. I am 63 years old and live in England this is one part of Americain history I was never taught at school. Great Britain is partly responsible for all that has happened to your great tribe, we first sent the white man to your lands. Just one of many countries we messed up over the years.
It seems that history is full of stories like this one. I feel really sorry for all people who had to suffer and were oppressed like this. I am Polish and we had to go thru similar experiences like the Navajo. It's good to know that there still are just people like you who go beyond their nationalistic feelings....
if I may make a suggestion, instead of the pow wow music at the end, use a navajo corn grinding song. Its more Dine than pow wow. I loved this video, god bless you shi deszhii..
Ya'at'eeh Nanebah, I loved your video. Ask any real historian about the Long Walk and I'm sure they won't agree with "Historian" Dina, as the images and feelings are correctly conveyed. My great grandmother was born at Fort Sumner and the stories that were told will haunt me forever, understandably not by those that continue to make light of the situation with senseless retorts and "facts" from second hand perspectives.
you know i'm navajo, i read, bury my heart at wounded knee, and its disturbing how ignorant, selfish, and blind most white people are, they never had their ancestors locked up and hearded like livestock 300 miles away from are homeland. it sickens me to see this sort of stuff so all you white people who think that this is all bullshit, you know what fuck you and your beliefs.cause i'm native american and i have the right to call myself a true resident of this country
Just to let you know, stainless steel, chain link fencing and razor barbwire was developed in the 1900s. In fact there was never any fences erected at the Bosque Redondo Reservation and the Bosque Redondo was far from being any Nazi Concentration Camp. If that is the image or feeling you are trying to convey to your views, I believe it to be totally inappropriate and without finding.
i thought it was a good way to show the murder of our people. but gotta agree about the pow wow music. its not good how people are homogenizing native americans into 1 group. pow wow is plains indian not navajo.

! And what's the name of the elder who said, "watch out for these people, they will come and steal your land!" That almost got onto the disc on the Voyager spacecraft.
lol. harsh judgement. perhaps because it sounded a little more dramatic. perhaps because it added the anguish I was looking for. or more likely, perhaps because that's the only CD I had at the time.
As I watched I barely breathed. When they arrived home, finally, I gasped and cried. The unbelievably horrible treatment of native americans by white settlers and the government is largely unknown to the general public. Thank you for producing something so lovingly to educate those who do not know.
Creator Blessings and peace to you, my sister. We are all related.

Brutalizing masses of people under the authority of a single individual generates a rage within me on behalf of those fallen men, women and children.
How many long walks will take place before we humans will stop this insanity?
Your film is an excellent tribute to your ancestors.
Thank you so much for posting this.
