  • love the hairstyle!

  • how do you secure the straws on the end of your hair?

  • How did you apply the straws on the ends of your twist?

  • Good video...I never thought to do a dry twistout from a previous wet twistout. I love ya results and will be trying this very soon.

  • I love it!

  • Your hair looks fantastic. How did you secure the straws in order for them not to fall out. Thank you

  • Your hair looks fantastic. How did you manage to keep the straws in your hair? how did you secure them in order to prevent them from falling out?

  • omg. do you have any pics of your hairstyle so I could show when get my hair done? I can't find pics of the look I'm going for.

  • Loved the dry twist out. Couldn't you have gotten the same resluts without doing the roller set ?

  • this came out way better dan da dry twist out vid

  • i've just decided to transition from relaxed to natural hair. love the vid! are there any products you would suggest for the transition..my hair is really dry??

  • I have started my transition! and your vids are AWESOME! Keep us informed girl! :-)

You are ROCKING the "shea butter" curls they are MUCH bouncier and more defined!

    Thanks!

  • "its jus banging!" hahaha had me rolling lol :) good video!

  • Hi. Im just starting my transition....I have a few questions. Did you melt your shea butter b4 using? The second twist was dry (right)? How long did it last b4 u redid?

  • Whenever i try to do this is gets 'jacked up' in the middle because i have too much hair and its too thick =(

  • @EmpressCarm Try doing smaller twists where you have thicker hair...that should help!

  • I haven't tried the shea butter dry twist but after watching your video I am definitely going to try it. I am new to the game lol (going natural) so I live on youtube and stay trying new products to see what works. Do you have any more suggestions (shampoos, conditioners, styling aids, etc)?

  • @EarthyEmbrace85 Check out my product review video that gives you the run down on the products and shampoos that i use. I love the Creme of Nature Shampoo and organix conditioner (shea butter, coconut oil)

  • I love ur hair. I'm goig to try it now.

  • This was a great video! I am tired of hard curly fro twist outs. (I use gel mixed with oils - doesn't work too well.) I have been mulling over just using shea butter and you have confirmed that this is the way to go.

I love the straws on the ends. Brilliant! You get the curly effect but don't lose much length.

    Great job and beautiful hair!

  • @NappyNFree Thank you!! Let me know how it turns out!

  • Omg!..I love the way your hair turned out, it's so pretty!!!

  • I also wear my hair in twistouts...I've been looking for a lotion that will keep my hair moist and keep the curls in all day...I live in a very windy enviroment...as result I lose some of my curls...I will definitely try the shea, coconut, and olive oil method. What brands do you use? Are they 100% coconut, olive or shea oils? where can I order them?

  • @zing55 Yes they are 100% natural. I get my oils from Vitamin Shoppe, GNC or Whole Foods

  • can you explain how you wrapped your hair around and secured the straws on the end of your twists?

    thanks!

  • I love how your hair turned out. I will definitely try this on my hair. It' really looks cute on you. Luv your vid!!

  • OMG! I love this. im on my way to buy shea butter right now. thanks for the tips. Love your hair by the way

  • i never thought of putting straws on the end ... its easier than rollers .... and easier to sleep on.. thanks for the idea..

  • @thatcutecapricorn No prob!

  • thanks I love your hair. I started to grow out my relaxer Sept. 2009. I am loving the tips.

  • @mzkyndramaries Thannks!! You'll get there soon! Thanks for watching!

  • Girl, thanks for the inspiration! I have had natural long hair for ages and i either cornrow my hair or have it twisted. My hairline has been thinning of late and i wanted a hairstyle that wont exert any pressure on my scalp. I will try your style girl. It is indeed, bangin!!!! Love it!!

  • luv this style im gonna try this 2nite

  • Love this style!

  • I like this style better. I was going to do the straw twist on my 3 y/o but this one takes shorter time. Thanks for posting. Her hair type is 4b/c.

  • that was really a great idea, love the rollers

  • she is sooo cute with that style

  • I can't wait to try this, I hope mine turns out as nice as yours. BTW what is your hair texture?

  • I just ordered more shea butter from this lady that makes it. I bought some from her before in a small jar to just test to see if i like it and i do. I love it because she can make it with any smell you want so i had her make mine with vanilla again because the shea better that they sell in the beauty supply store really smells bad to me. Anyway your hair is gorgeous lady! I am doing this when i take my kinky twist out next month. Thanks for sharing!

  • It's the best thing ever for our hair! I can't wait to put in fragrance in my next batch! I hate the smell of mine too...I might try vanilla.

  • Really nice hairstyle. Thanks for sharing.

  • great video...your hair is beautiful....i am going to do a couple of twist outs w/ shea butter.....& i can't wait until my hair is your length.......thanks

  • Great tutorial! I'm going to try the method tonight.

  • super cute!! i love the idea of using straws =)

  • very pretty!

  • I use shea butter on my wet twistout too and it works great! It's all I use on my twist outs for now on.

  • Your hair is very pretty. I am New subscriber.

  • Thanks!

  • What did you do each night? Did you retwist it?

  • Put a bonnet on it or prettydimples01's technique of putting it up in a high loose pony tail and then take it down in the morning and fluff...

  • This video is really helpful! How do you attach the straws to the ends? Thanks a bunch! : )

  • With bobby pins

  • I freaking love ur curls

  • I love this style!!! I am transitioning and I never thought about using straws to set my braid outs. I love it!!! Thanks for this video!

  • I love you hair. It was really pretty!

  • Are those regular drinking straws?

  • yep

  • I love this look and it seems simple enough. Thank you so much for sharing.

  • Did you put the straws on the ends only? Your hair really rocks!!! The first time did you sit under the dryer?

  • Yep just straws on my ends..and nope I didn't sit under the dryer...just watched tv :)

  • Natural Newbie confused, how many times did you twist your hair. You washed/conditioned twist hair while wet, let dry, then twist out, then retwist again with Shea butter only let dry and then twist out again

  • Hi! I ended up twisting my hair only twice.

Day 1- Wash and Twist...Let it dry...then re-twist to STRETCH the hair..place straws on the end

Day 2- Take it out and enjoy!

  • love the video and the hair is beautiful. Can this be done on short hair?? Thanks

    Tan

  • I would think so if you have enough length to do a twistout

  • Love the hair.....but I do have a quick question....Is your hair natural or relaxed....I am in between a perm and natural and tried this syle in many variations....I have a puff then curl....so how to I eliminate the puffy non relaxed part?

    Again hair is rockn

  • Thanks! My hair is 100% natural no perms, chemicals nothing. ...no way to eliminate the puffy part but I do know a way to eliminate the non puffy part (relaxed)...Chop chop! Good luck on your journey...it is a wonderful thing!

  • Cute hair!

  • love the results. i will try the straws next time. hope it will come out great like yours.

  • is your bonnet satin or polyester? I bought what I thought was satin (it said satin bonnet cap on the package) and I opened it and on the inside tag it said 100% polyester...needless to say I felt so duped, but do you think it makes a difference? will polyester suck the moisture out of my hair like cotton does?

  • Not sure! I just got the cheap one at the local beatury supply store.

  • Thanks for your idea for shea butter I have big tuband have been thinking about ways to use it for the winter months..

  • Great info, Could you explain how you did the straw at the end and kept them on?

  • It looks gorgeous! WOW!

  • love the outcome

  • very nice

  • do you only use shea butter caus i brought some african gold and its kind of hard and how do you melt it u said using coonut milk too explain thank you

  • You can use anything that you feel would moisturize you hair. I used shea butter and also tried my elasta qp oil previously. I washed my hair with Creme of Nature and conditioned it with Organix Coconut Milk branded conditioner. Hope that helps!

  • great style. what kind of coconut oil did u add to the shea butter? I added extra virgin, and its a solid at cool temp. But even when i melted it down, and blended it with olive oil,and the sheabutter,it become solid again. My mixture was all grainy! Anyways, great vids! ^_^

  • Did you have a chance to check out my tutorial on shea butter? Check that out cuz I give the measurements that I used too and the products. Also, trying taking a chunk and rub it in your hands and it should turn into a liquid immediately! orr you could melt it in the microwave etc.

  • i would've never known...

  • I wouldn't have never thought to use shea butter alone!

  • This is beautiful!!

  • Your hair looks so beautiful, love the look.

  • Thanks!

  • you should try melting the shea butter slightly then apply. no fully liquid but slightly ... it works wonders for me!

  • It melts has soon as I rub it between my hands. My mixture that I made isn't as hard also so it works great!

  • this is a different way of doing it nice video

  • Very pretty twistout!

  • I need to try the straws at the end, I tired rollers before but they were too big. Thanks for the idea.

  • Thanks for the tip about the straws on the ends. I always have trouble with frizzy ends when I do a braid-out or twist-out. I'm gonna try it with perm rods and see how it turns out.

  • Let me know how it turns out!

  • Alright thats cute, I did the same thing, but i didnt put the rods on the ends, but ill remember that for next time!!!

  • this turned out really cute!

  • Thanks! This is by far my most favorite style. I always put it up in a updo and a side twist with the curls, so I'll have to do a video on that soon.
