  • its not even a clash song to bitch over. its toots and the maytals.

  • @MISFITROBBY138 - I know right ? Initially when uploading this I was trying to add a watermark for another project for a friend and didn't realize this video would get such traffic but this is pressure drop by the clash/the mescaleros but people seem to get all anal. I'm glad I posted the video though because I didn't realize that there was a lack in later footage of Joe.

  • almost nine years on and I miss him a lot...JS was a great artist.

  • Damn Joe, you've done everything. Glam Rock with The Vultures, Pub Rock with The 101ers, Punk with The Clash, Rock With THe Clash, Ska with The Clash, Reggae with The Clash, Pop with The Clash, Experimental with The Clash, Jazz with The Clash, Dub with The Clash, R&B with The Clash, and Solo work with JS and the Mescaleros. Wow

  • R.I.P

    NEVER FORGET HIM

  • I like the version by the Specials ( rap) but if you are looking for the Kingston flavored copy of Toots' hit look for the cut by Steven Sparks.

  • @lavflo1029 do you know where i can find that?

  • Joe Strummer is my boss!

  • tell me, why I'm just starting to cry sometimes when I see Joe, so full of energy and so expressive.. He fakin shouldn't die!!

  • step back in time guys,,this is history.written, joe rip

  • who the hell is sayin this is the clash, this is like 2002, i mean look at him!

  • @nhunt13 - For the 10th time, I listed it as the clash pressure drop but changed it to Joe and the mes like a year ago...

  • RIP joe

have a good time all the time

  • Holy shit! I was there. I drove for half a day to get to it too. I can't believe someone uploaded a video of this. Thank you mixwell1983.

This was in 2002 I believe, the July before he died.

  • Lucky Bastard. : )

  • That's not the Clash. It's the Mescaleros.

  • @pgclash66- Yes that has been pointed out a few times already.. Thanks though.

  • Well change the title then!

  • I would usually say fuck you if you don't like it but I did decide to change it (not for you) but for accuracy. Anyways its crazy but I think this was about the first video I uploaded and you can see that stupid water mark and I was trying to test for how the video display would work. I am surprised I've got this many hits off the video, hope you enjoy.

  • joe was awesome, but i wish paul was with them

  • I never saw the Clash live..just too poor as a kid. I was old enough but it didnt' happen. I never forgot their debut on the Late Show with David Letterman. They did London Calling. I said to myself, what a dynamic sound, it's raw, a bit edgy but, it's what made it sooo great. Joe had not gotten his teeth fixed yet and spit was flying across the mike when he let out those screeches in London Calling. A lasting impression for me. RIP Joe!

  • I photographed all three days of this tour (Hootenanny) and it will forever be three of the best days of my life. Got to meet Joe after the third show and he was amazing.

Much, much love to him ....

  • I envy all the lucky sons of b****es that got the chance to see Joe. I was too young...

  • same here

  • de är bra!

  • this is`nt the clash ... it`s joe strummer and the mescaleros

  • The cover is but the band the Clash OG covered it so fuck off Captain Correction.

  • lol .... dont get nasty ... it was a light hearted correction ffs .... bye bye capt`n

  • Sorry Captain !!

  • That`s ok capt`n

  • I was at this show. Good memories.

  • You guys need to check out "The Oppressed" version. It's brilliant.

    Good job Joe!

  • the oppressed version of what?

  • Pressure Drop.

  • I've heard the oppressed version. its pretty cool but you cannot compare it to the Clash's version

  • This is so great! The worlds best punkrock singer singing one of the best ska groups songs. You can skank to it, you can pogo to it. Still it´s a beutiful song, with a lot of power. Preassure drop is really a good song!

  • Ya its the Mescaleros not The Clash...

  • Yeah this is mescaleros, not the clash.

  • The bass really comes out doesn't it? I like how he;s just standing there like a pimp. He needs a mic.

  • i hate you with every ounce of my body

  • i agree with you gotbass7 with every ounce of MY body :D

  • ya you defiantly suck

  • No idea...

  • Strummer

    what a pimp

  • Strummer what a god send.

but gotta love the toots version more :)

  • He's Playing with the Mescaleros not The Clash right?

  • This all proves how great Toot's and the Maytals song is when the greatest band ever covers them. You cannot ask for a better compliment.

  • Joe seems kind of tired in this - does anybody else think so?

  • It was taped in july in southern california when it's hotter than hell. I was there and it was a great show.

  • thanks. I would have liked to have seen that show.

  • toots and the maytals is much better. much better

  • Then go watch Toots' version, fuckhead.

  • Yeah they are great, but not this great.

  • Brilliant, Joe, we all miss you.

  • I like my version better than the Clash's, but Toot's is the best.

  • but this is Joe Strummer & the mescaleros man

    not the clash

  • the clash listened to toots. that's fucking awesome :)

  • Toots & The Maytals :-)

  • long live reggae

  • and rocksteady/ska

  • thank GOD someone can finally tell the difference.

  • What is the difference? And please, don't tell me the difference is organs or horns, instruments don't make a style of music. And it's also not the speed because I've heard lots of "fast" reggae and lots of "slow" ska.

  • I think rocksteady is defined by its era isnt it? Quite a short era in the sixties before it became called 'reggae'

  • you implying i couldnt tell the difference?

haha ska is my type of music. i simply said long live reggae as although toots are considered a dancehall/ska band they are old-skool reggae to me
