No, it probably isn't oo likely that this will brick your PSP, but you always run the risk of bricking it. If you don't have an old game that you can get to FW 2.00 (Seems that all the updates now need 2.00 to even work properly) your stuck at 1.50. If you try to update from 1.50 to 2.00 or whatever, you can't see any text in the update, so your kinda screwed.

Don't get a slim, they cant be modified. The normal psp's can run homebrew [Home made applications] when upgraded to a custom firmware, like this :D

NEVER get files for your psp from people on here,they'll brik yur psp outa spite. go to psp updates or pspbrew,jus google downgrading psp. you been warned. anyone on original sony firmware above v2.51 can sit down,nothin for you yet i don't believe. all other firmwares from 1.00-1.5 can run homebrew straight off memstik,v2.00 upwards can use a downgrader back to v1.50 or a prog called hen(HomebrewENabler) on fw upto 2.51. don't take it as gospel tho,sheet changes everyday sso look into it.

Dennis779 may have good intentions but I would not recommend using any firmware files from people you don't know. Download them from established modding sites (alas Dark Alex is no more). You MUST have a modded PSP or a PSP capable of being modded to use this firmware. Modding your PSP CAN AND WILL turn it into an expensive paperweight if NOT DONE CORRECTLY.
