Sure ... it's because the mic picks up the zoom motor noise ... zooming whilst filming is not generally good practice anyway so I tend not to miss it too much ... and the power zoom doesn't have enough fine control for me to want to use it whilst filming ... can't have everything on a £200 camera lol
Hi there ... looks like the main difference is the 18 times zoom ... and that's a sneaky marketing ploy. The difference between 10 times zoom and 18 times zoom is not as you would think ... my daughter has the TZ5 with 10 times zoom and I'm able to compare them side by side. From 10 up to 18 the difference is not worth worrying about. So don't get sucked in!

the only thing i don't like is you can't zoom in or out while recording video

Looks great, particularly on the close-ups.
I'm still on the FZ8; amazing little camera, and I guess the FZ18 has some improvements.
