  • Do yourself a favour, Ernie. Buy some compressed air. At least you know there is air in the bottle. lol

  • ladies & gentleman, u are watchin a true hustla at work. i honestly don't think there is a person alive as good as lefty, LMAO

  • "would i cheat ya?" - lefty

  • "riiiiggghhhhttt" lol

  • this is comedy in its purest form....i'm 32 and i still laugh at this shit :)

  • Riiiiiiiight!!! Lefty is a a riot. The creators and writers were definitely ahead of their time.... FABULOUS!!!!

  • My brother (42 yrs) and I (47 yrs) still do Lefty's "Riiiiiiiight".

    Sad or what?!

  • @mhhavsb63 not sad at all just funny shit that you remember from when you you younger....i'm 32 and i love these skits

  • Hey Ernie, I got a nice suit you can wear for your birthday!

  • HAHAHAHAHAHA he have a funny habit of breathing!!!!!!!!!!! rofl

  • Bert is the Squidward of the 70's.

  • OMG, THAT is how Ernie sounds in the original?!!! In the german version, he sounds all...I don't know...childlike and stuff. But Lefty sounds the same...love how he makes that dramatic pause and then goes ".......exactly."

  • his exit made me laugh

  • Always liked this segment! And it's not far off from reality! I mean-take a look at more than half the packaged products these days-half the box or bottle is full of nothing but air! I guess alot of big companies learned from Lefty that you can sell air, and people will buy it, as long as you make the package and the advertising look appealing!

  • Love how Lefty keeps SSHHHing Ernie!

  • wierd

  • Air?

  • German voiceover from Ernie is better. :))

  • HA! Ernie lost his air, classic stuff!

  • "Oh, no! I lost my air!"

    Bwahahahahaha!

  • reminds me of false preachers who sell nothing to people who are really hungry for God

and take all their money and run , real preachers dont need your money they follow Jesus and He supplies all the needs, and does all things well , oh halleluia !

  • @parisreidhead

Well, preachers do have bills like the rest of us; they wouldn't turn down a nickel. But the real ones don't ask for more than that, (within reason of course). And a really good preacher makes sure we don't lose our air, either.

  • Classic. This is exactly what a carbon offset is. A Rip Off. How interesting that sesame street tried to warn us about being taken for a fool...but obviously some people never seen this episode of Ernie and lefty.

  • They are showing you how the carbon (CO2) trading scam works. LOL.

  • @Michaelwiseguy ah yeah, and the O2-active mineral water, too! (The water that seemingly vitalizes you much more than an ordinary mineral water can. Yeah right.)

  • This brought tears to my eyes when Ernie cried!!!!

    I know I'm a sap!!!

I haven't seen this in sooo long..Thanks for posting!!!!:)))

  • Lefty does rip people off, but then, he never does charge more than a nickel. In these days of Enron and Makovich, I can't get too mad at Lefty :)

  • oh no i dropped my air!!!!

  • Shades of Al Gore selling CO2 credits or what.

  • Lefty sure loved to rip Ernie off.

  • Does anyone have the segment where Ernie shows Bert how to make a P into an R?

  • Please, could you not comment every video related to Ernie or Bert requesting that video?

But anyway, my only hope is SesameStreet (dot) org for that clip.

  • I wasn't planning to requst it on EVERY Bert and Ernie video. Just the ones that are listed as 'miscellaneous' sketches on the Wiki. Still, I suppose I am getting a bit carried away.

  • Oh, sorry.

  • It's fine. I agree, I was getting a bit repetative. I've actually deleted a few of the requests I posted for that clip.

  • Ernie: Oh- here it is: right next to my invisable ice cream cone...

  • By the way, this sketch aired on:

    "Sesame Street" episode 0118 (April 22, 1970)

    "Sesame Street" episode 0262 (May 11, 1971)

"Svenska Sesam: Missing Cast" (1982) (in Swedish)

"Sesamstrasse" Folge 2270 (2004) (in German)

  • Wow, wattamack4. I didn't even realize this sketch aired on Earth Day of 1970. Earth Day is our holiday to respect the environment we live in and air we breath in. We celebrate it ever since the day in 1970 when this sketch aired on National Educational Television's Sesame Street episode 0118.

  • Interestingly enough, this sketch even involves something about Earth: Air.

By the way, speaking of which, I'm hoping on Earth Day (4/22/010), CTW will release all three versions of "The Garden" (Susan and Oscar, Hippie Muppets, and Elmo) on their website, especially the Hippie performance.

  • Actually, wattamack4, this is from 1969, not 1970.

  • While it is from the 1st season, yes, it says this sketch first aired on April 22, 1970.

  • On Muppet wiki, I forgot to mention.

  • Hey, wattamack, you mentioned on Muppet Wiki that there was a sketch where Lefty's boss sends Lefty to get a 20. I'd like to see that.

  • Um... that wasn't me who put that down on the Sesame Street Gangsters page, that was someone else.

But if you'd like to see it, my only hope is ask someone on here, or wait for Sesame Street to upload it on their site.

  • Oh, sorry. I didn't see that someone else put it down. I usually don't whenever I visit Muppet Wiki. :-P

Oh well. I'll wait for someone to post it.

  • Yep - and now people go to a spa and pay $100 an hour for oxygen

    So who's the fool?

  • really great sketch!

  • Finally! Thanx for uploading.

Couple of years ago, someone was telling me that one of the national drug store chains here in the states was selling bottled "oxygen", and I immediately thought about this skit. I wished I had access to it then, but better late than never.

  • "Bottled oxygen"? That sounds like a huge death note right there.

  • Love Ernie's sobs at the end, losing something so valuable and so obvious!

  • Great Ernie and Lefty skit! Ernie should've known. There's air all around us at no cost! ;-)

    Where'd you get this?

  • Like some of my recent posts, this was a Hebrew clip posted by nibras, and the audio is from the Sesame Street website.

  • "Yes, it could, Bert. It could!"

  • That has GOT to be the best closing line ever!

  • Yeah.
