  • PAUL HEATON'S A LEGEND! UP THE BLADES!

  • Fantastic. The 80s left us a great music legacy! Thanks YoUTube

  • I love David Tennant.

  • Yikkitee-doo, yikkitee-dah, lippy tuppy too-tah!

  • @GrigOrigTK Sick low life, how can you wish that on anybody! Karma will get you for sure.

  • @GrigOrigTK Why should I tell a brain damaged boner, like you, anything? Looks like you wasted all that time in therapy after your total humiliation and derision.

Why would I think of you, a disgusting yob, in any connection at all? A person does not die from being corrected just as no one dies from Alzheimer's.

Do you never get tired of having your a§§ handed to you? No chance, at all, of you becoming a normal, productive member of society, eh? Go lick something, piglet.

  • @GrigOrigTK Wait! What? You are delighted that a total strangers' mother, who is also a total stranger to you, is dead? That makes you "so happy"? *smh* Alzheimer's is slow and painful you think? Dumb yob! No one dies of Alzheimer's, they just start to decline in mental acuity... till they get to your level.

Stay in school, stop collecting ASBOs like Pokémon cards and try to be a normal, productive member of society.

  • @GrigOrigTK LOL at "Briad"! Stay in school, kid!

  • @GrigOrigTK No, not hard to understand at all, just really awkwardly and badly expressed. "Big black man"? Racist much? Why would anyone go to the trouble of digging up my mother just to rape her corpse? Oh well, at least you have hopes. You yobs rarely strive for much.

  • Why can't I get this on my android phone?

  • @GrigOrigTK "a good depth of music knowledge" ???? Once again, in English, please?

  • @GrigOrigTK i do have a good depth on music knowledge thank you very much, i didnt need to explain much but since 2 people are flipping out over that then i should tell u that i didnt write that my little sister did who is a fan of the Housemartins but just wanted to get some thumbs up by doing the whole thumbs up thing.

  • Sublime, had many a good time with the housemartins music...;-)

  • thumbs up if david tannants doctor who brought u here

  • @masterzombie161 No. Have a word soft tit

  • Na na na na hes a blade and hes a blade!

  • Seriously, Paul Heaton knows how to move!

  • so... what hour is it ?

  • This whole album is terrific!

  • sound amazing, look like accountants.

  • Cool dancing ; ) Great happy song : )

  • london 0 hull 4

  • You know, The Doctor saw this band live back in 1990 :D

  • PAHAHAHAHA

Only place itll ever be London 0 - 2 Hull is a fucking rugby league match

  • my dad told me that the girl they all stare at in the pub was meant to be modeled on his sister, ted key and paul heaton used to serenade her from outside their house from time to time (much to the annoyance of her then boyfriend) when they were a tiny tiny tiny band, he went to many house martin gigs but stopped going when he figured they just wanted my aunt to go :p, when my family saw the video for the first time it obviously looked like her whether they intended it or not :)

  • FATBOY SLIIIIIIIIIIIM !!!

  • David Tennant brought me here

  • @pronyma how?

  • Possibly

  • They were fans of Trixie's Big Red Motorbike in the early eighties. Did they rip off any of their stuff?

  • "The Housemartins' 'Happy Hour' was a complete rip-off of 'I Want The One I Can't Have', and they've nicked others too..." --Johnny Marr

  • @fdalkjfdsalkj that's no rip off. If you want a rip off listen to the Jam's "Start" and then "Taxman" by the Beatles or even better George Harrison's direct copy of "He's so fine" when he made the all time classic "My sweet Lord"

  • 29 folks are against happy hour - for shame, for shame.

  • That's Phil Jupitus lurking in the background, or Porky The Poet as he was known at the time.

  • quality

  • Nice dancing.

  • Go Housemartins Go! What a great F&^%*(g song!

  • 28 people musta got kicked out of their local.

And 'in 86 it was ALL about the Claymation!

  • Such Great vocals. The whole album is supurb. Shame that there is not more music around like this today.

  • CHECK OUT THE COVERUP AND THERE SINGLE, TOP FLOOR, BACKED BY PAUL

  • 0:32 How many knows that he is Norman Cook ?

  • Proud to say these guys lived and grew up very close to where I now live, Ella Street is the heart and soul of Hull

  • ahh... yes, before year 2000 when music actually was good.

    Why wasn't I there!?

  • God I was 11 when this came out but listening to it now it seems like only yesterday. My band has just decided to do a cover of it. Being the guitarist Im happy about that seeing as its the same 4 chords all the way through.

  • Memebers of this band became "The Beautiful South" and had a US hit with "We are each other" in 1992, but I do recommend the entire album.

  • Sounds very much like a Smiths song!

  • @Loughton397 yeah this is a rip off of "I want the one I can't have" from the Meat is murder album...

  • i'm not here because of effing dr who, i'm here because i love the housemartins and i have since i was a small child, god. rant over.

  • DE WUEVOSSSSSSS

  • OK who is here because of Doctor Who ? :)

  • @Pattonfrodo I am. I'm an American, so I had never heard of the Housemartins. David Tennant mentioned it in that deleted scene, so I checked them out. Now I see why he says their concert was one of the best he had ever been to. They're a very good band.

  • @tf2whackyengineer I am also an American fan how cool are we? lol

  • @Pattonfrodo We are two wild and crazy guys!

  • @tf2whackyengineer I'm an american too thats no excuse. I've been listening to these guys since MTV... prime stuff!

  • @gogglesux Ahh, I was never one to watch MTV. I'm in my late 20's, but my music tastes are mostly 70's. Of course, when I would have been watching MTV as a teen, they mostly aired Nirvana and alternative, not the Housermartins.

  • @tf2whackyengineer

I get it now... i feel kinda sorry for you...MTV believe it or not WAS the best. I mean they Played ALTERNATIVE Videos and everything.. they had their finger on the pulse of everything that was Music. Now it's... well i dont know- i can tell you that it is not the same.it's because of MTV and their love of alternative music that figured out what a passport is and how it got me closer to the Music i needed. I mean i wont get on a plane just to see now aging band.

  • @gogglesux Heh, I don't go on planes for them, but I have seen a few aging musicians. When you're a 20 something whose favorite bands were popular in the 70's, you kind of have to. :) Some of the members of Fleetwood Mac are in their 60's, and I recently saw Gordon Lightfoot and Willie Nelson (not together), who are both getting up in years. Still, they're very good musicians, and with Fleetwood Mac they've spent a long time practicing new takes on their older songs, so it's really cool.

  • @tf2whackyengineer you got to see some pretty neat acts.... I would have liked to see FM at one time or another I think they can still hold it together. The stones are old too but they still put on a pretty good show.

  • @gogglesux Yeah, it was a pretty good show. The tour I saw FM on was their latest one. Lindsey, Stevie, Mick, and John minus Christine Mcvie. It was a very good concert.

Even better was seeing Lindsey Buckingham's solo act. It was in a smaller venue so I was closer, as well as having open aisles to the stage. During the encore, people gathered around the stage, so I got out of my seat and walked right to the edge of the stage. Lindsey played so close that people were touching his guitar.

  • @tf2whackyengineer

Christine does not tour with them anymore? I did not even know that. Lindsey was always said to be a real cool guy..down to earth. He still doing the fender strat thing? ordid he play a gretsch i'm not too sure..

  • @tf2whackyengineer If you're looking for some good bands, I recommend ELO, Fleetwood Mac, hmm... The Eagles if you like a sort of Country Rock fusion. I don't think I need to mention bands like Led Zeppelin and Pink Floyd though, even people younger than me listen to them.

  • Can you believe this is Fatboy Slim, the same guy who made the song "Fucking in Heaven"?

  • the ugliest band in the history of music! Great song but they shouldn't be in any of their videos.

  • @newsoundrecords I for one are glad that they are not so Flash.. i'm getting kinda sick of "good looking people" in videos... or for that matter on tv in general.

  • y hate on this song ?

  • love it. Very happy at last.

  • thank you doctor who!

  • @semenski90 I had to watch that clip like 5 times before I realized he said martins. I thought he said mans or mons.

  • 26 people pissed off

  • It's a real gem and reminiscent of Jackie Wilson's Reet Petite which was a hit in 1986, two years after Wilson had died. Notice Phill Jupitus reading the newspaper as they enter the pub.

  • Just gotten their first ever recording on a reel and we are going to be uploading it very soon if anyone is interested, just transfering it now from reel to computer.

  • Love this tune...!!!

  • 25 idiots were chucked out of the pub!

  • Classic!!!!

  • thumbs up if you found this band because of Doctor Who :P

  • @dinosaursayROAR Are we speaking of Doctor Ten's message he left for Martha, about the best show he ever saw? Liked the band before that, but since I worship Tennat that sort of made me like em more!

  • @dinosaursayROAR What have they got to do with that show?

  • I suddenly remember what I did and where I was in '86. This song brought it all back. Thanks! :D

  • it is the best song for bad moments, it´s so happiness

  • Brill song !!

  • Casual man, casual.

  • i was in a pub in bridlington with my mate when i last heard this in the 80s ,thats what its all about, being happy, priceless.thanks

  • You need to re-rip (or get the original ripper to re-rip) this with different settings - it's full of motion artifacts. It's a shame because it's got a longer opening than the other clean version I just watched.

  • Sono le pinte, ma non c'è birra dentro.

  • This one definitely takes me back... Great tune and video.

  • great song,great band

  • it's time for a reunion tour...!

  • Legendary - proper music not like that over produced digital pitch changing crap in the charts now...

  • And we wouldn't have had to put up with stupid messages from gaspoweredCUNT either. By the way it's Phil Jupitus you retard.

  • Love this band to death. very good sound nice guitar riffs.

  • the tall ones fatboy slim

  • the tall ones Fatboy slim

  • rhoda0103 I'm 5 8 and I am able to fancy windmill dunks. Honestly, anyone can do it, just workout the right way. I highly recommend the workout at "50inch vertical [dot] com" but any workout could be followed if you know they work

  • which one tried to kill his next door neighbour with an axe hes my favorite

  • @stevenorway

I think you made that up. But in case you didn't, he's my favorite too.

  • @ady10001 @stevenorway No - not made up. Hugh (the drummer) attacked his business partner with an axe and did time for it. It's always the quiet ones you've got to watch.

  • Oh My... I loved this video! This song! almost forgot about it till I found it by accident just now. As I watched it everything came back to me... every little move, every little facial expression they made, how I adored Norman Cook... Housemartins... there is no such innocence or sincerity left in music anymore...

  • hard to find an Happy Hour anymore. pubs have gone shite. no smoking, overpriced ale. not like it used to be

  • i'm in!!!

  • Let's get the Housemartins - Caravan of love to number 1 in 2010.

  • Ow yeah(Y)

  • @gumboselfish Yeah, I love that song. Brings back memories of a better era!

  • @W138277M Better era? your fucking right there mate. Ear, have you noticed? when it starts, at about 0.35 the first shot of norman cook, he looks like Andy Defreis off The Shawshank Redemption. Does he say under his breath "would it help if i told them that i,m not homosexual"? To which Paul Heaton says "Neither are they, you have to be human first"!!

  • @gumboselfish - wouldnt that just be too cool, but nowadays people dont appreciate the real good stuff. I was 5 when this came out and have loved it ever since.

  • @gumboselfish so you are saying we should push the tempo? :)

  • @gumboselfish Good idea, great song to beat Cowells manipulation of the charts

  • @gumboselfish how about no ?

theirs enough wannabe trendy movements going.

  • @gumboselfish COWARD!!!!!!!! Stop hiding.

  • these guys always sorta creeped me out

  • Always loved this

  • great!

  • Brilliant song & vid - a british gem

  • lol, cant believe he's fatboy slim

  • 1:34 haha

    Get in there Paul

  • I admit that smiths almost surely influenced housemartins. But there were a lot of guitar pop bands in britain around that time. The smiths may be one of the best, but not the first(For instance, orange juice is earlier). I would rather say housemartins is more like orange juice, both with a healthy dose of soul, funk and ska. And Paul Heaton as a vocalist is one of a kind, just like Johnny Marr as a guitarist.
