I don't understand why they use music in floor routines. Very, very occasionally they do a move or two that might go with it, but on the whole it doesn't make any sense...unless of course they just need some sort of auditory timer.
i think she was supposed to do the whip-triple, but she accidentally did a back handspring, and it all messed up her concentration so she stopped her twist in the triple.
@SvetlanaBaitovaFan I dont really think that she would get the triple around as her third pass....She wanted to do 2 1/2 punch front layout, and probably went too far with her round off and Bhs,so she saw that she is going to go out of bounds...I dont know....she got 0.30 for that second pass....both legs out....but she didnt land outside...that would be 0.50...But i dont know why the score was that low....And i dont think that she wanted to do whip triple...thats my opinion...
@vivelagym : I think you might be right, because she's always done the whipe-triple for her second pass, during these olympics, and most of her competitions leading up to the Olympics! I don't think she wasn't trying to do a 21/2 punch front as a combination pass...I think she lost concentration and did a back hand spring instead of a whipe back, and it through her off!
@TikiBoy382 It's weird because she really looks like she is going to punch front. It is more weird when you know that whip to triple was her second pass in Athens. I don't really know what she meant to do. I can't imagine she forgot the whip. I mean she's been doing it for 6 years as her second pass.
I think she was trying to upgrade (2½-punch front as her combination pass, whip-triple twist as her 3rd) to make up for the fall on BB. It didn't pay off, unfortunately...
can someone please tell me what the move was when she dropped to the floor at 1:28

@MegaSpiderman5000 I love that skill, it's a Straddle Jump with a Full Turn to Front Support. It is worth a 0.2 in gymnastics.

I wish Pavlova. Cheng and Sacramone had all had the Olympic experience they wanted and were capable of

Dude, she mess the routine, but 13.850 was a very low score. Even with that mistake, Anna deserved a score highter than 14.000.

I think Anna does quite well with this music [but I'm a huge fan of hers, so I tend to be biased!]

my problem with her is how inconsistent she is

not bad,yeah

I think she was underscored...how much could she have gotten off for the mistake? Sheesh...
But this was very unfortunate; I'd rather see the bronze medal around Russia's neck then Romania's.

She could have also been trying to do a 2 1/2 to Aerial Walkover as her second pass then done the Whip Triple as her third

That was so hard to watch! Poor Pavs, I hope she recovers from her injury and comes back for '10 Worlds and possibly the London Olympics.

why she did a two and a half? she should do a whip triple.
mowill50 3 years ago
yes... that is a fall. the difficulty was reduced

The commentator thinks that she wanted to connect this two and a half with another skill

@fabogymnastics
the commentator was wrong. she bailed on the whip and got disoriented.

you are right. i wonder what would have been her start vaule if she had.
jovani2293 2 years ago
Well, if she was planning on doing that, then she's an extremely quick thinker. At least she pulled off the 3rd pass.
saltlakecity2002 2 years ago
@mowill50 She was looking to upgrade to a 6.1 start value from a 5.8
jovani2293 1 year ago
@mowill50 I think she just missed that whip + triple twist. When she reminded, was too late.
