Do you see how the when he moves the "ruler" tool it's slightly choppy? My Intuos 3 tablet also does this but when I use the mouse to do it, it's smooth. WHY!?
@ThePortalGunner THIS is connected to a powerfull PC. Sketchbook works ok on a tablet, but try to run Maya, Max, or even Photoshop. There was somewhere video of CS5 on ASUS Eee Slate EP121, not wery pretty slideshow. Tablets with wacom input are great to sketch on the go though
@ruthlessclos18 no disrespect meant but don't kid yourself guy. The iPad is a good tablet, great for daily use and entertainment but it doesn't hold a candle to what you can do with this product.
I have an old Cintiq 15X, and I actually prefer my Intuos 4 tablet with a two-monitor setup. I wonder if I'd feel the same way if I tried a 21UX, but I doubt it. It's hard to cut loose because I'm too aware that a) I'm drawing on a surface that I worry about scratching and b) that surface is getting warm at the bottom. That being said, get Sketchbook Pro regardless of what you use. It's worth it.
This is a beautiful piece of equipment. having said that, PLEASE BUILD a PORTABLE cintiq -- like an actually digital sketchpad not needing to be connected to a pc.
Super! Thanks a lo tor the great demo. I wish there were touchscreen monitors supporting pressure-sensitivity for students who can't afford a Wacom Cintiq ;-)
@xpez Not a single one that can do what I need to have done...
I got plenty of sketchbooks, and none of them can transfer and extrapolate into 3d data sets while animating and hosting services so others can join in on projects... while I upload backups to the cloud, ETC.
Another real benefit is, I would not need a warehouse for storage, or a pallet truck to deliver it...
I think after establishing that he is drawing ON the cintiq they should have covered the rest of the video using direct feed from the screen.... so we dont see him. This would still show the variation in stroke and the tools in sketchbook pro
Great hardware! great software! great and talented professional from Autodesk, however, I think the speed sketching is not helping to demonstrate a lot of things...I think an essential thing Marcel should explain in further videos is how to work with Layers and how you can manage them in Sketch Book Pro 2010...apart from that, great video.
We learn about Marcel's sketching skills but I want to know about the Cintiq and the pen sensitivity. His hands are covering the most interesting part. Next time film it from the left!
Is there a CAD software to work on the cintiq 21UX. That is using the cintiq as a graph paper and drawing directly with the precise measurements . This would make software like autocad obsolete.
I just got mine and it was cheap, I bought it from a designer that was moving to New Zealand and had no room for it. I paid only $500 CAD. it is awesome!!! :)
i would use my touch laptop which is more expenive and better! t900 fujitsu
Funmichi 2 weeks ago
@Funmichi actually it could be cheaper and better! The CINTIQ is way to expensive for its components.

Anyone else feel like the short guy in the back of the crowd?
So nice to get an occasional glimpse of HIS FACE to break up the monotony of watching the BACK OF HIS HAND WIGGLING AROUND!
Simply moving the camera to his left side would make it so much better!
Or how about getting rid of Marcel de Jong and bringing "Lefty" in from the bullpen...
I'm no "Solutions Engineer", but that works for me. Maybe then I'd watch some of the other Wacom videos...
cheesh!!!
