  • So so thankful I got to see these guys...9 times...before Layne died....RIP brother, RIP

  • your soul served on a plate? its your decision.

  • masks are made to hide the glow......miss ya Layne Staley

  • M E T A L

  • where are the 1990 born people at? 90s for ever partners of life! peace out

  • Masterpiece.

  • early 90's hollywood bad asses christian slater and river phoenix (RIP) loves alice in chains!

    therefore--

well this is funny, william duval and layne staley [RIP] is both 43 years old!

  • lol white people got it wrong. They can have rap music. Shit, I'll even give them r&b. But this shit here is to be enjoyed by those whom have the ability to appreciate it.

  • Some people don't wear crosses because they go to church or believe. Sometimes its just a safeguard for demons just in case. lol. lol. lol.

  • Did Layne ever play the guitar with Alice in chains? I've seen him play in Mad Sesson but never wit Alice in chains

  • unplugged he did

  • SLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLATER!!

  • your soul served on a plate!!!

  • Does anyone think that Layne Staley and Andy Bell look alike?

Love the song, thanks for posting.

  • tomkyriacou

    I don't! NFW

  • no, he kind of looks like francis from malcolm in the middle tho

  • religion lol - anyway, thanks for the post! I love this song and I wanted to hear it, and here it is thanks to you mr. poster. you rock

  • this is probably my favorite alice song only behind grind, junkhead, and dam that river. fucking amazing.

  • are they anti christ?

  • No they aren't. The only song I've heard from that talks about even questioning god is God Am. And that's more questioning than challegding his word in my mind. Layne has been seen wearing cross necklasces quite often on stage. And try to keep in mind, even with God Am there aren't questions you would ask god?

  • true but i have seen porn stars wear cross neckleses im not saying he didn't beleive he came from a christian family so mabey he knows whats right and wrong but makes his own decission idk

  • The only song is not God Am

Look up the lyrics "deny your maker"

  • i want that goatee

  • i want laynes shirt... 90's clothes are so awesome.. i wish i had been my age now back then...

  • depressing

  • RIP Layne. One of the most haunting voices in music.....

  • Yeah, that truly sad!!!... I some way he was absolutely lonely, besides his fans even remerber him!

  • some people enjoy solitude and drug trips could maybe make you just want to escape from the world by yourself

  • other of the songs form AIC that can really put you high in some way.

you start to listen to it, and it don't seems so good. you listen it again, then again and again. Great band, one of the bests I've heard in my life.

  • *sigh* back in the day...this was real music

  • zb1984

Yeah, they did a remix that took some of the "tin" out of the original. Layne is still the man

  • I swear this is a bit different from the recorded one.

  • mmmm.... why this is the shit!

    *burns rap cd's*

  • omg i almost forgot about this song

  • I miss Layne. I lost my brother around

the same time. He suffered the same

as Layne. Hope they both rest in peace

  • good stuff

  • I love AIC, this song especially.

  • Man I like Them Bones and What the Hell Have I, but I wish they were longer cause Them Bones isn't even 3 minutes... but I guess cause it's fast paced. It's just not long enough to get into

  • Kick ass in deed!

  • spam. i've seen this on a lot of diff vids by you.

  • this song is under rated this song kicks ass. you suck montathos. POS. GO FYS.

  • You're gay

  • great song

  • AIC needs a new singer? They should check out "SHREWD LUCY" Sounds just like Lane. Give ya the goose bumps!

  • v=GwyeR26vq8s

  • Love this song, miss you Layne, RIP.

  • I love this song. Alice in Chains is the best ever. Beautiful.

  • man, AIC's music is just so haunting and dark, alot about inner-struggle

  • Just a Badass tune by the absolute best band the 90's had. Period.

  • This song will melt your face! Alice in Chains Rocks!

  • i've always loved this song!

  • aaaaaaaahhhh!!!! i just downloaded last action hero!!

  • thats no weird dude A.I.C is hauntingly beautiful

  • LAYNE LIVES WITH-IN

  • man what happened to rock? one thing about the guys who overdosed or killed themselves, is they really put their heart and soul into their music, not that hurting themselves was a good thing, but it kinda makes sense with the shit music today

  • RIGHT ON!!!!!!!! I think drugs might B part of music's territory....i mean a lot of the greats used drugs....nothing wrong with that..its their life not ours...we all got 2 go 1 way or another...people need 2 stop wanting 2 know so much about famous peoples personal lives...take the music 4 what it is!!!!!!

  • We need to know more about them and the struggles in their life it makes the music more personable to the listiner

and then you start to understand the drug use and that layne used them to cope with the stuggles and that they work for a while but became a huge burden on him and that he couldnt stop.Heroin can change the make up of a persons brain into thinking it needs this to survive its no longer about the high but the need. thats the true tragety many beat it and mant dont. Remember the Good

  • you say remember the good, yet we need to know more about the personal struggles of Layne, who was addicted to coke and heroin, in order to make the music more personable to the listiner?

  • Rock on dude

  • I know its an odd thing to say about AIC, but lately to me it has been hauntingly beautiful

  • me 2

  • It's funny how the soudtrack did way better than the movie. Classic AIC.

  • yep

  • Hey bustyourchop, same with me! im 14 and apparently black people arent supposed to listen to alternative/rock/metal. im the only in my school who listens to this great music!

  • wow you just made my day. Fuck those bastards who say black peopel aren't suppossed to listen to alternative music. You can do whatever you want, reguardless of the color of your skin, just remember that. Lead by example

  • Yeah, i agree. and i can't stand pop/rap because it lacks the emotion put into rock genres. Slipknot has more emotion. But, i hope the grunge scene will re appear.

  • all the new rap is corny. if you want something deep and will make you think listen to old Nas , Styles P, Immortal Techniques , mos def, dead prez

  • @rockroyalty11695 color doesn't mean shit, brother. if you feel the music, you're in.

  • Great AIC song. Not the best song, but my favorite VIDEO by AIC. I wish them and the new singer best of luck.

  • im gonna go see them next week :)

  • this song is decent; not the best, not the worst, imo. of the two aic songs on this soundtrack, "a little bitter" is 100x better, imo.

  • Love Layne's voice,so distinct.

  • chains wont be the same without layne

  • What the hell happened to MUSIC?

We're neck high in pop-crap-rap radio, celebrity fat-fuck reality t.v. shows and text voting for trailer park losers lip syncing ABBA songs hoping to be an "idol".

I'm going back to the 90's, when musicians wrote their own music and actually played instruments! Who else is going?

    Wait for us Layne!!!

  • I wholeheartedly agree with you

  • can i get a ride?

  • very good, is very cool......

  • Man me and my buddies were tripping balls and this video has some crazy shit in the background smoke effects. The song adds to the intensity of it all.

  • I used to always play this on guitar, used to drive my girlfriend at the time crazy.. lol

  • "What the Hell Have I?" is the sickest AIC song there is.

  • your soul served on a plate!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • this song is the shit id like to eat a couple of hits. right now im stoned to the bone anyone else?

  • fuck yeah man, you know i stay high till i die

  • Willy is not the fated singer to replace Layne.

  • We will. Jerry wouldn't put himself through all this if the new songs weren't good. I think it's gonna kick ass.

  • i agree with kmt187, nobody will EVER be as good as layne was. I think they should've stopped playing when layne died, for respect to layne and the fans, they should stop now. They never should've added another man to sing. He sounds terrible. RIP Layne

  • You cant replace Layne but you can carry on the music that he loved and that we loved thats all jerry is trying to do,he know he cant replace layne.I was there from the begining 1990 facelift i want that music back and jerry can bring it.the radio sucks bad now-a-days.....

  • How can you listen to Layne and Jerry together and not get chills?

  • EASY its good

  • The most beautiful voice in 90's grunge, by far. God rest your soul, Layne!

  • Personally I feel Chains was 50% Layne, and 50% Cantrell vocally. Any fan knows that. But the band will never be the same without Layne. The man was a powerhouse of raw, honest, expressed emotion. His life poured into every song with suicide, pain, addiction, and inner struggle. That is what real music is in a NUTSHELL. The artist trully expressing their demons and feelings through sounds and words. Nobody can replace Layne, and the greatest vocal cover I heard was Staind doing AIC songs.....

  • I'm going to give you a medal for so clearly putting why I like AIC in the first place. *gives medal*

  • untrue... Best AIC cover would probably be Opeth - Would.... they approached it with a lot of respect.

  • You are correct on that, Opeth is my 2nd favorite band next to Pink Floyd. But I really expected more from Opeth's cover. I thought they would make it their own but, they did it almost exact and I was left feeling a tad bit disappointed. I love all their other covers though. Expessially their Purple,Trower, Maiden, and Frost covers.

  • Cnatrell wrote most of that music about laynes addiction because that was the only way jerry could talk to him without layne becoming upset he didnt like any1 to question his reasons...

  • I never knew that about Cantrell, it is quite sad that he did not have a healthy way to channel his love for his friend and his concerns accept through songs. Lets hope we hear some fantastic Cantrell material soon.....

  • cantrell never dissapoints

  • Actually, seems very healthy way the channel feelings to me, friend.

  • I to have suffered addiction, and I lost a friend to the needle. I know how the man felt and, although my friend is still alive, he is on his way out very soon. Alice in Chains can speak to so many people because, their music was dark, emotional, and honest. It was so honest that mainstream radio had a hard time accepting them and playing their music. But we can't all hide behind hoes, bling, big bootys, and pointless rap music. We need a good rock band to stir the truth up....

  • Duvall will never be the man Layne was, the man put his soul and feelings on his songs. Like Nutshell, that was one of the songs that has emotion in it so does What The Hell Have I. My Fav is Layne's last AIC song, "Died". When Layne Died Alice Died with him. Please I wish they would stop pumping life into something thats dead and gone to a big ol plie of them bones. R.I.P Layne,Dimebag, and Cobain,

  • Sully Erna could do better than William DuVall.

  • Sully is a disrespectful dick he gives all kinds of credit to AIC and Layne Staley until people start saying Godsmack is a AIC ripoff. Fucking Godsmack was an AIC cover band before they made it big. He has talking shit about AIC in magazines and shit there is no reason in hell he deserves to be in AIC he can't sing worth the fuck.

  • Hell yeah. Godsmack can't even compare to AIC on their worst day. Sully won't even admit to ripping off the name of his band from Alice. There are so many underground bands that deserve radio play over godsmack.

  • He does, he accepts that the NAME of their band was based on the song God Smack of alice in Chains.

  • I read an interview one time where he denied AIC as having anything to do with the name of his band. Sully is still a prick. AIC FTW!

  • Seriously? There's video's on youtube of him flat out saying they first got the idea from the AIC song. Guys really need to get their story straight. Not that it matters cause they aren't fooling anybody.

  • At one time I read an interview where he denied it. This was in the late 90s right around the time they first got airplay.

  • he never named it off the song, he just said its a cool song

  • For a second i thought you meant AICs song godsmack. lol

  • awesome song, awesome band, bad movie, lol

  • grunge isn't dead, 90's music rocks RIP layne, & cobain

  • Alice was actually probably the heaviest, darkest, most legit bands of the 90's

  • One of my all time favorite AIC songs, period.

  • i think that sully erna from godsmack should front them he sounds a lot like layne and his voice sounds dark instead duvall's whiny pathetic excuse for layne staley's voice

  • seriously what an awsome song

  • Robert Duvalle could be the frontman of AIC.

  • Fuck......SHELLY Duvall would be better than the hack they have now. That guy sucks sweaty nut sacs...

  • Comment removed

  • it's just a technicality, it doesnt mean there not a true fan

  • Comment removed

  • Grunge? No. This is waaaaaaaaaay bigger than that.

  • the duvall dude definitely doesnt sound the same... and even if he did it still wouldnt be the same band to me... layne staley was more than a singer... would u wanna see a nirvana without cobain or a sublime without brad nowell?

  • I know its hard when a band looses such a influentual singer. They all cant be as lucky as say AC/DC losing Bon Scott and picking up Brian Johnson and still make awsome albums that a 1 in a million chance,But I am wiliing to hear the new AIC. Brian Johnson said it same as William Duvall there are not trying to replace them just step in for them while they are gone and carry on that legacy we all want that music back and that is all they are trying to do.And I welcome that.

  • i need to see what duvall does in the studio

  • I just heard this song on the radio. Had to hear it again. It fucking rocks.

  • Lucky you to be in a place where they play music that makes you feel like you're connected to a car battery. I wanna move there.

  • Yeah where you live must get a lot of britney spears and fall out boy - am i right?

  • reminds me of Last Action Hero

  • NO WAY can Alice calls it's self AIC without Layne. No disrespect to the "new guy", but Layne WAS Alice....

  • I think Layne + Jerry was AIC

so its only half AIC now :p

  • This is true, but peanut butter without jelly isnt still peanut butter and jelly

  • ah, touche...

  • to clear this up jerry cantrel said in a recent interview that AIC can never replace layne, but they need someone to sing all the songs layne and jerry wrote

  • Thanks for posting, been looking for this video forever....once of AIC's best....they were so original...I've worn out all my AIC CDs....AIC died with Layne

  • This is such a bad ass song! I'm glad I caught these guys live back when they did Lalapallooza. KILLER show and they were touring with the Dirt album!

  • happy bday jerry!

  • I miss Layne so much....I would give anything to bring him back....along with Kurt and Jimi....ALICE IN CHAINS WILL LIVE FOREVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • what kind of guitar is he using does anyone know?

  • You can find the answer on my website :)

  • It's a Mosrite. Probably a Venture.

  • jerry cantrell is such a fucking guitar monster. the best band to ever rock the stage.

  • perfect song

  • When did they make this video? Doesn't sound like the studio version.

  • can anyone tell me wath song is at the beggining of this video, awesome song and one of the best group ever!!!!

  • The song is called "Them Bones". I think it's the first song on dirt. Classic album.

  • thank you very much!!! i love that song and i wonder if they will still be good at the rock on the range without layne :( ,well i just have to find out myself

  • ive never heard them with the new singer but on 96.5 some dude for GnR was on there and a few other guys and they say they still sound relle good. BUT AIC isnt AIC without layne.

  • Correction: Layne wasn't Alice in Chains, he was a member, Without him AIC as we know it is not the same, however they are still AIC with a new singer.

  • Ya know what, I'm tired of people sticking up for this post Layne AIC. Why couldn't they have done what Led Zepp was going to do, Get all the original members together minus Robert Plant and start a new band under a different name. Layne kept Jerry's mainstream/douche-ness in check. And with out Layne, he is free to ruin a legacy. AIC IS FUCKING DEAD AND WE ALL MUST ACCEPT IT.

  • im sure alot of ac/dc fans said that when bon scott died..we'll see about that.

  • That is true, but AC/DC is not Alice in Chains.

  • i liked bon scott alot more.

  • true, but that is not the real argument. the plain and simple fact is that DuVall, plain sucks. if they want to make new music at least get a guy who is a good singer and has an element of the former singer

  • by saying that you just proove that you have NEVER heard william duvall you have never attended one of his concerts with aic. They came to texas 2007 and did and unplugged concert he sounds almost exactly like layne did. so stfu and stop sukin laynes staleys dick. duvall is the best replacemnet they found

  • Wish I could have met Layne back when this was made and turn him away from the drugs.....

  • You would of been a little late by the time this song was made. He was already pretty far down the rabbit hole.

  • duvall sucks! He isnt worth a skid on Laynes skivys. Ive heard better howling cat F*ck than him.

  • I was never the biggest AIC fan but I just discovered this song and think it's great. Encouraged me to get into more of their stuff, they're better than I first assumed (only listened to one album in the past). A real shame about what happened to Layne.

  • man I love this song ! RIP Layne I never knew you but you inspired me in so many ways.

  • Comment removed

  • This dude was on the Tribute video talkin bout how Layne wasn't talented cuz he inspired people in a negative light. Dude if you listen to AIC and are inspired to do heroin your an fuckin IDIOT. Their music is amazing, yeah they're not the Beatles singing all you need is love, doesn't mean they aren't talented.

  • how could any AIC song make you wanna do heroin if any thing theyre songs should make you wanna stay away from that shit if any one listens to these guys wants to do heroin they deserve to die like layne

    RIP Layne

  • If anything weren't they signing indirectly or subconsciously against it??

  • aww so beautiful, rip layne

  • Last Action Hero with Arnie

  • Alice In Chains shouldn't have replaced Layne with that black guy.

I find it a bit self-disrespectful of them to do, Layne can't be replaced.

They could have just used Jerry if they knew they were going to reform, he sang in most of the songs anyhow.

But Layne and Jerry's vocal harmonization = epic.

  • What's wrong with him being black? Does that change anything? I'm black and I love Alice in Chains.

I haven't heard the new guy at all. Like everyone here, I grew up on Layne, so I'm kinda partial to him. But what does his color have to do with anything? It should be about the music

  • I say that more black people should be involved in the metal scene. Spice it up a bit haha. And no, I'm not black.

    I'm pasty white.

    SWEDISH PRIDE >:D
