I just watched this today on OnDemand. This might sound crazy, but I didn't find it too bad. I find Planet 51 worse because I was just bored watching it and couldn't get all the way through because I lost interest so fast. I was at least able to get through this one and smiled. Some of the jokes were kind of bad too. I neither love nor hate this movie. Its just forgettable.

@KevinPaul06 That's what Shakespeare tried to explain to Gnomeo, but when it comes to true love, he refuses. Romeo and Juliet was a tragedy, but things in this movie are better. And things are better in the end, nobody dies, except Tybalt

@snarkus63 That's not what it's about. It's about a red gnome and blue gnome falling in love while the others on both sides are at "war." Not many animated movies are an adaption of a Shakespearean tragedies. The only thing I found wrong with the movie was the ending. Now that was cliche.
