it's more of a self taught sport really, but there might be some places they teach it. if you can't find anything, just find someone you know who wants to do it and try in any local urban area you can.
trust me I know more about it than you do. I'm tired of fucking idiots who just read about parkour going around saying, "this ISN't PARKOUR!!! LOOK AT ME! IM SO COOL!". you're an idiot dude. of course most people know he doesn't do pure parkour. but nobody cares. you're an idiot.
well then you're all dumb and should focus more on training instead of stupid shit. by the way, why do you end all your statements with a question mark?
everyone knows daniel doesnt do full parkour. big deal he likes flips. and he doesnt give a fuck, hes a bit of a freerunner. so what. im a freerunner and i love flips. its a different style. big freaking deal!!
i bet when u wer little u would watch someone do a backflip your jaw would drop, well thats how i started and i wanted to learn to do a flip and it took me years then i found parkour! but my point is. WHO CARES IF ITS PARKOUR OR FREERUNNIG!
ummmm .. big deal .. who cares .. does it matter if u do flips or not ... as a matter of FACT : u can do a front flip futher than u can run and jump . which could come in handy with parkour !
your right yea.. i know that . its NOT parkour, it free running. what im saying is.
theres not much point in everyone aguing about it . its still the same art of motion.
and backflips, gainers, double flips... they fell sooo good (if u land them.)
and yea they do have its differences, and i h8 it i wish no one would care of the difference. i mean, if i was getting chased yea.. i would use parkour and not even think of flipping (coz its pointless) but theres no harm of doing it your learning

i know he ses that in the vid .. but most ppl just say ... lets do parkour than freerunning(sounds better)
well thats what i say anyway even tho i freerun ... but even ppl who train freerunning and parkour.. they both get called traceurs.. coz its the um... art ? :S... sport (even tho its not a sport)
Lawl when i say lets do free running it's when i just run with out stopping and i do parkour .. Because when i say lets do some parkour here i just mean lets try this place out or something like that :b
I love when getting chased i was only doing a monkey to precsion this 3 guys said forget it lets get this guy a other day to fast .. then his friend said Yeah right we never get him .. muhaha :p funny when get chased and i love when it's the police .. When you are no high roof top Jumping from roof to roof
Daniel Ilabaca is very good but he don't really do really parkour ? cause he loves flips that you dont really need in parkour it waste your time to do flips .. but i think he is good at the things he do but i like david belle more
If you go by what the tru definition of parkour is, no flips are not parkour, but there is just no need to have so many debates about it. Many of the traceurs today do parkour as well.
I dont agree with claiming flips ARE parkour, but I don't see the issue with doing both together.
I guess this is just Danny's take on Parkour, and no matter what, you gotta respect the man.
tons of respect for daniel, but.... what he described isnt parkour. why does he insist on calling it that? why cant he just call it freerunning and not cause any trouble?
the man is INCREDIBLE. 6 years of training, amazing. I constantly want to see more of him
look, i used to be like you, i used 2 get so worked up about flips and how they aint parkour but the thing is it depends how you use them. after 4 years of doing parkour i finnally realise that it depends how you use flips that decides if its pk or free running. the thing is when daniel does use flips, they're fluid and aye, pk is about expressing yourself in movement.
im not sayin that every time some1 does a flip it means theyre doin pk you just have to use them efficiently, fluidly an don't use them constantly cause that just defeats the point of pk.
i dont know. i see parkour as how it was originally defined: training to be able to traverse any terrain fast and efficiently. i love that philosphy, but i dont see how doing a preciscion to front flip qualifies under that. ppl do parkour to express themselves, but theyre doing PARKOUR.
his philosphy conflicts with what parkour was originally created for. thats what i see
Down here in sydney, Flips arent parkour but to me if the flip doesnt slow you down, or changes the direction you're in or interrups the flow of forward movement it can still be parkour. Parkour is what you do in a chase situation and i dont see people doing flips when being chased lol
They may not change your direction, inhibit your movement or slow you down but IT IS LESS EFFICIENT. Going about the movements without flips is much easier than WITH flips. They are unnecessary
The only advantage I've seen whatsoever is landing from drops. While doing a frontflip, it seems take less on you knees because of your forward momentum
It's all on the practitioners philosophy. David Belle started and named parkour and gave it it's own philosphy. If you follow it, you do parkour, and doing flips while training is just a pure joy
But Daniels philosophy is nothing like David made parkour to be. But...
Either we all decide to stick philosophies with their according names, or.... who knows
yeah,i agree, We've given everything so many names, freerun, 3 run, parkour and everything should be pretty distinct but still its not. The reason these things are differentiated are because of contrasting philosophies so i think Daniel may be slightly wrong,
this is such an inspiring documentary. For once its all about the man rather than a music video for moves which every other video seems to be! Danny deserves to be heard!
xxmoominxx, i love that front flip!! I think the angle from the 3run family video was much better!! That trick is mega impressive.. but the angle taken in that video doesn't show well the trick...hihiih
Dunbar... i know who is Daniel Ilabaca (i'm one of his biggest fan.. but i've never seen him ... i'm from Canada)
I've met Daniel Ilabaca once, we met him in Shell Centre (London) for a couple of hours and he is AMAZING ! ! !
His parkour is unbelievable and at one point, we all gathered round and he spent about 15mins sitting there and talking about his philosophies and views on David Belle and PK.
Brilliant person all round and he is definitely up there along with Seb (who I've also met, hehe) and Belle as my idols.
Wow, i love this guy... super inspiring!

Parkour and freerunning are different but what they share is the freedom, one is about speed the other just about expression.
Most places you're not really allowed to do it, they see it as trespassing or vandelism, but if you did get seen, how are they gonna catch you?

i see pk as a way of expressing yourself
it dosen't matter if you don't think flips belong in parkour
if you can express yourself through movement, which can contain flips
its like danny said "its all parkour man"
