Other counties do train like that, but none of them have to put up with a county board that is always trying to undermine them. Every since 2002 they've tried to claw back their power. This is now more about how cork GAA should be run, with a fair voice for all clubs in cork which is not happening now. My club wasn't asked bout the vote of confidence carried for McCarthy 86-13, it wasn't even on the agenda that night, and delegates weren't allowed go to and ask clubs, some democrate decision.

I wouldn't exactly say the players have gotten angry over nothin, it's not the fact they had a bad manager but their whole training regime was a disgrace! They were not givin any meals after training(all inter county teams get them) and Frank wanted to put them in public jacks to tog out for training and games so it wasn't just a case of management teams but better playing conditions. And I don't want to start an argument I am just making a few points why they went on strike

Well said minidazzler- Gerald McCarthy had five All Ireland medals before any of these lads came on the scene. These guys could have emulated that success if they weren't so busy striking. And just for the record- they were striking long before Gerald McCarthy came on the scene as Cork manager in their quest for player power- the likes of Kilkenny and Kerry wouldn't put up with this nonsense- which is why they are top of the hurling and football pile!

Eire raises a good point for the hurlers as well, when was the last time they won anything, it was Munster title in 2006 and then contested the all ireland final. Since then, after McCarthy took over not even an appearance in any final, any else see a link? McCarthy has to go for bad coaching record if nothing else.

Amature in status yes, but how they train and prepare away from the field is of a standard many professionals would not reach, coupled with family and work commitments, they put in nearly more than pros. Last night showed the true feeling of a lot of cork GAA people that Peader claims to know about, standing ovation for the players and the people on the floor putting forward the motions of no confidence in McCarthy.

Im sorry fanuithe cork is not the only county team in Ireland that train like professionals and has family and work commitments as well and they dont act this way. Its only the cork team that act like spoil brats, they have no right to choose there managers. Other counties do train like that, but none of them have to put up with a county board that is always trying to undermine them. Every since 2002 they've tried to claw back their power. This is now more about how cork GAA should be run, with a fair voice for all clubs in cork which is not happening now. My club wasn't asked bout the vote of confidence carried for McCarthy 86-13, it wasn't even on the agenda that night, and delegates weren't allowed go to and ask clubs, some democrate decision.

I'll wish the team the best and hope they do themselves and the county proud, but i wont be travelling to thurlas to mk numbers that the county board will use to help their cause. I know the players haven't covered themselves in glory, but some of the comments made by McCarthy and board have made a solution harder to find. McCarthy goin is only was of solving it, and possibly the retiement of some the the more high profile players. Its gone that far.

Its a pity that those who walked in Cork in support of the hurlers don't know anything about the rules and workings of the Gaelic Athletic Association. The vast majority of grass roots supporters, who are members of GAA clubs (of which most people are not) have no time for the players. They are standing by Gerald McCarthy, a true Cork hurling legend, who has done more for the GAA in Cork than any of the members of the 2008 hurling panel.
