  • I changed the clutch and belt as per your instructions....awesome by the way...., but my beater brush still does not spin. I have suction because it cleans, but the brush still does not spin so I don't have the lifting power. What else could it be? Thank you.

  • Outstanding video! After contacting a repair shop, tech wanted over $80 & up for labor. Decided to do it myself, & after following your easy to follow instructions, I was able to change the clutch assembly without too much trouble. Vac needed new clutch when it started making loud whinning sound, old cluch lasted 5 years & the new clutch works great! I feel like I graduated from vac school (vacuumology) Thanks!

  • I know this is an old video but well done all the same.. thanks!

  • I have to say... You made this look so EASY, I went ahaead and bought the parts and did this myself. EASY AS PIE. Your instructions are clear and concise and RIGHT ON THE MONEY. Great job. I hope you are teaching Rocket Science classes. You would make them easy too! Thank you!

  • THANK U SOOO MUCHHHH.. You were sooo helpful!!!!!! :D

  • My dad, who does not have a youtube account, asked me to thank you for this video. He has now successfully fixed my mother's vacuum cleaner, no thanks to Dyson.

  • Most excellent video. Great, acurate information. Thank you.

  • This is stupendous! I found another video to change the drive belt on a DC07 and the model he used had a different-shaped sole plate and no clutch assembley! Well done, I thought I was stuffed!

  • Thanks for the video. I am once again a god in my wife's eyes!

  • THANK YOU for the Video!

  • Thank you so much. I took my Dyson DC07 to a vacuum because my brush assembly was not spinning. I suspected the belt but they said it was my clutch assembly and that it would cost $250. I immediately went home and decided to try YouTube. Your video was perfect, The belt was not moving. I took my Dyson apart and placed it back together and it works perfectly! Again thank you so very much! You saved me $250. You are Awesome!

  • Thanks...you saved me from either breaking my vac and/or having to take it to a repair shop. I wonder who the two "dislikes" are? Probably vacuum repair shops...LOL!

  • Great Video! Thank You for making this! I replaced the cluctch and beater bar with total success. The orginal belts and clutch lasted over 6 years so I didnt mind spending the $75 on ebay for the clutch, beater bar and belt installer tool kit. No more grinding noise at all! obviously, the belts were wore and needed replacement. Thanks!

  • Awesome video. Thanx for such a great service to all of we inept would-be vacuum fixers :)

  • Very nice! Thank you!

  • Thanks

  • perfect video...thanks for taking the time to edjgumacate us luddites!

  • Excellent video, thank you so much for the details.

  • Whoanelley , You get 5 stars. I love to shop around on garbage night & sometimes I get lucky & find a gem , well , I found a Dyson DC14 that needed a new clutch. If you don't watch this great video , you will break your Dyson. After watching this video , 'it's so easy , a cave man can do it '. Thanks again , Good day.

  • Incredible! The motor-to-clutch belt failed on my DC07 today and although I had a vague idea what to do, I was not sure of the complete procedure. Your excellent video told me all I needed to know and within minutes I had located and ordered a new clutch assembly. I could haev bought just the belts but after the years of good service this Dyson has given me I figured a new clutch would be a good move and a new clutch is a LOT cheaper than a new Dyson. Can't thank you enough for posting the video

  • I just purchased a refurbished clutch from your e-bay store. It came in about 3 business days. (That's fast as I live in Hawaii) By watching this video and getting the clutch from you with that belt stretching tool, I saved about $450 and hours of aggravation. Now that I know how to take this Dyson apart, I can really clean the hair out of the roller brush.

    Thanks

  • If my dad didn't have this video... I wouldn't have a dad right now.

  • why is that?

  • Brilliant. Gives you the confidence you need to do the job (it feels like it will break - it won't. It didn't!). Thanks

  • Thank you SOOOOOO much for this video. I have a DC14 and the brush stopped turning. With your excellent directions, I was able to take everything apart and discover that a very small stone was lodged under the belt that drives the brush, causing the belt to not turn. My Dyson works, once again, and the repair costs were $0!

  • Great video....feeling quite happy with myself just now. Clear, concise instructions made the project a breeze! Keep up the good work and thank you for sharing your knowledge.

  • Dude, you saved my Dyson. Thanks a ton. Great video!

  • You are awesome! My friend and I found a dyson put out for trash pick-up last night and brought it home. Motor runs but belt is gone & clutch may be a problem as well. My friend can fix anything, but he had a hard time figuring out how to take everything apart...until we found this video!

Thank you so much for doing a great, clear video and for caring enough to post it!

  • Thank you for your informative video. You saved me the cost of a new vacuum by not breaking mine in the replacement process.

  • If your Dyson has a knob that allows one to turn the roller brush off, then your DC07 is one that uses a clutch. If it is 5 years old, I'm thinking that it needs a new clutch. I believe that the clutchless version is newer than that. Anyway, hope this helps.

  • Thank you! Thank you! I ran over a guitar string and up into the clutch assembly it went. Tried for literally 3 weeks to get the belt cover off. NOTHING at Dyson's web site, or in any manual. Who knew that the secret was literally yanking the brush assembly cover off with brute force?

My purple vacuum is rockin' again, thanks to you! Dyson should be ashamed.

  • Thank you so much! I am back up and running. My only complaint is that you made it look too easy - ha!

  • Very Informative, You go Girl. Who says its a mans world, bollocks :-)

  • I was told the clutch in my DC7 needed replacing and would cost me £45!

I watched this video took the the machine apart and removed the clutch. I couldn't see anything wrong with the clutch so I put the machine back together.

I turned it on and the dreadful noise was gone it's now working fine. I haven't got a clue why it was making so much noise.

I'm a 65 year old lady so if I can do it so can you.

Thank you so much for this Great video.....

  • Thank you lady.. Mines making a horrible grateing noise and scares my young one to death..

  • Thanks for the video! I was able to swap out the clutch on my DC-07 by following along. Some of those steps aren't quite as easy as they look on the video, especially the knob cover on the carpet settings switch. Also, getting the roller on without a holder was a bit of a pain too. Overall pretty straightforward, though something I'm glad to not have to do again for a long time :)

  • Thanks so much for putting this video together. I was hoping to find some info on how to check why my DC14 belt mechanism is making loud clicking noise and your video was very informative on how to access the relevant parts.

  • Very helpful and calm video. It really helped me a lot. Next time, try some additional camera angles to show the details better... but I loved it. My roller bar was not turning. The old belts were intact (but thinner than the new ones) and the clutch seems to operate. so I am not sure if maybe the belts were just too stretched out. but it is great now. replaced the clutch and the roller bar for ~$70

  • You are an absolute star, been struggling to do this all morning! x

  • Thanks a lot, video was on the money and saved me a bunch of money too!

  • Thanks! I didn't have to replace the clutch -- there was a small stone wedged between the belt and the clutch where the belt goes into it. I appreciate the dissassembly instructions!

  • This is a great video, showed me step by step on what to do and saved me from spending $100 + to have someone else to do it. All I spent was $40 and did it myself. Thanks

  • Thanks for the video - Excellent - Saved me £££. I have just used it to replace my clutch assembly on DC14 and now have a fully working machine for £20. Many thanks........(wish I had the belt-lifter! 2 round barrelled screwdrivers did the trick with only a minor flesh wound!!)

  • Great video...lots of great info which sure helped me repair my Dyson. I just need to get a new clutch and belt tool...

  • Just would like to say thank you for making this video. It was a great help.

  • I am so glad I found this video. I was getting ready to pay $129 to someone to replace this clutch. I just ordered one from you on Ebay! Thanks for the easy instructions.

  • Thanks for this video - perfect example. Wish I had a belt lifter tho!!

  • thank you for your help, I was able to change my clutch and bar successfully. Excellent documentation!

  • Thanks for the video. I was able to replace my Dyson clutch that was ratcheting all the time with your help!!! Thank you!!!!

  • Thanks! I just bought a clutch (from you on e-bay, didn't realize it was the same person LOL)... I collect vacuums as a hobby (hav eabout 40) and my dyson dc 14 has been clicking and the brushroll was sluggish on the backstroke. I was just looking for written instructions when I found your video... THANK YOU... plus free shipping and including the belt lifter. You're amazing! :o)

  • great video im gonna change the brush bar on mine its been on 6 years seen this and ive just orded a new clutch may aswell change them both.

  • Wow!!! Awesome!!!! You saved me a lot of money! I got the parts really cheap on ebay (about $50 for clutch and belt lifter)...You will definitely need the belt lifter...The new belt was really tight. My dyson works again and it only took a few mins!!! I would give you 10 stars if I could!!!!!

Thank you, thank you, thank you!!!!

  • Awesome

  • how do you know when you need to replace your clutch?

    thanks!!!

  • Usually the belts will stretch to the point where the vacuum won't pick up lint and hair from carpet. Also, the clutch may start making a loud ratcheting noise. In my experience, the belts typically last 3-4 years.

  • Fantastic video, i searched everywhere without success to find info about the belt etc until this.

  • thanks for the clip, i followed it to the letter and my dyson is in perfect working order again!

    cheers

    austen,

  • great! only info that I could find for this problem thank you

  • top notch!!!!! thank you. Dyson runnin like new.

  • wow - you deserve a medal for this - very thorough and easy to follow - thank you very much!!

  • Thank you! You are a terrific woman! This saved me a lot of trouble. Great video!

  • i love you. i was well down the road to having my dyson disassembled forever before i found this video...

  • Very good demonstration! Everything was explanation in detail. And I hate to say it but a lot of Dyson owners will eventually need to do this so the demo will be quite usefull! No plastic clutches in a Kirby (I say this with pride).

  • yet, u still need to replace the belt in a Kirby

  • Wish I would have been able to watch this before disassembling my DC07. Luckily, I got through the clutch removal w/out breaking anything. The video was great help for how to put everything back together.

  • useful video thankyou

  • thank you for that is there one for changing the motor on a dyson dc 04 (uk) please
