  • Deeply ace.

  • My Perfect Band !

  • haaaaaaaaaaa yeah!!Saw them at Benicassim, I left Brandom Flowers on main stage to sing and jump to this legend of band. They said "Enjoy the Strokes and didn´t praise any British band" it was kinda funny watching em on satge jumping on their fifties

  • saw em at plymouth poly about 1980...will live with me forever

  • This is just great!!!

  • Stop arguing - this is a great song in anyones' language - The Undertones were the best punk band ever - and I love SLF's and the Clash and the Pistols and the Members and the Buzzcocks , but I saw them all live and the 'Tones were the very best. And then Feargal sold out - effing wanker!!

  • This was supposedly in New York City after they signed with Sire. Fergal said one week they were in Derry and the next week they were in Manhattan. He said it was incredible and a real shock.

  • And some fung fu demonstration at the end lolz

  • isto é um bom punk rock, simples mais autentico...i have a punk rock band in brazil

  • I love the way the bass player nudges the singer at the end of the guitar break (1:25) -- like, "get back and sing!"

    Great song :-)

  • @Grunfeld lol i hadn't noticed

  • 0.04 and 1.25 !!

  • Smoking is big and it is clever !

  • music at its best, thats what music should sound like

  • This fucker can sing, damn, GOOD FUCKING MUSIC MATES.ENJOY WITH A CIGARRETE

  • ok ok ok ok

  • sharkey actually looks like daniel o donnel these days!

  • Why do so many people want the 'Tones to reunite with Sharkey???? Have you not SEEN how good they are with Paul McLoone. Nope, they can well do with out the pompous twat.

  • Saw them once, way back in the 80's in Arnhem...they were awesome. Fergal is an arrogant little prick, but boy, can he sing! And the band was really rocking and playing tight. If I'm correct they were also on Stiff Little Fingers label, which was a playground for enourmously talented bands back then. SLF as a label was quite small and independent, and dared what EMI refused to considder...bringing out good alternative music.

  • one of the best bands ever

  • Saw them in Manchester in 1981, 30 years later going to see them in Birmingham, just a pity Sharkey wont be there

  • Brilliant song for a brilliant era!!

  • C'mon Feargal,do us all a favour, think about your pension, bury the hatchet and get back on tour with the lads. Fantasy reunion or wot!!!

  • @MrWitchtrials

I would cut my balls off to see them together...well maybe not off but you get what I'm saying. haha

  • Don't fear sharks!

  • My favourite Undertones song, weirdly I only discovered it when it was covered on an advert for not speeding. Never seen it since though, does anyone else know the one I mean?

  • @Angusismyhero Yehh! I go to a college and we had a day dedicated being aware of the dangers of speeding and in the video of adverts they showed us, that was one of the adverts, i already knew the song and started singing it haha :)

Think the advert ends up with a car swerving into a tree right?

  • @irishcrusader99 That is exactly what happened to me, I think it was called Drive Alive? I wish I could find the video again though, yes the car does hit a tree, I think because the driver was distracted by his hot girlfriend?

  • a mitad de tiempo que los Ramones y con el doble de guitarras e INCREIBLEMENTE BUENOS

  • Orgasam!!!

  • I love the the recording of the drums.

  • Definately more talent than U2

  • @themusicfella .....for sure

  • @themusicfella it just has nothing to do with u2

  • @turpsacorium ... Course it does lol

  • Comment removed

  • Amazing. You should also listen to the John Peel session version on the album "listening in", its superb, and much better than the studio version.

  • Happy memories.... the boys live in full flight were awesome live.... great song and great band!

  • sent this song streight to a girl i knew called jenny over facebook. she loved it but i don't think she got the message lol. ah well, better luck next time :P

  • What a Brooklyn accent, oy vay!

  • wow. these guys need more recognition in the US. so much bigger than the song "teenage kicks."

  • The coolest band to come out of Northern Ireland !

In my book, they are better than U2

  • @Deena777 Right on! U2 are pretentious, self important, self satisfied, smug poseurs.

  • Nice live version, but don't smoke Feargal: it'll hurt your voice.

  • @shoeboy59 he doesnt have the voice anymore. He had a unique voice, and well with old age and smoking , it kinda wrecked it :( Same with Debbie harry :/ Still tho, quality tune!

  • bloody great! Enough said...

  • fing brilliant the best pop song ever!!!!

  • see them at Sony Ericsson Temple House Festival Sept 10-12 2010.

    can't wait.

  • Chuck Berry + Irish urchins = Undertones.

  • Oh boy. Fantastic.

  • Just brilliant

  • "and you're mamma doesn't know why you cant look like all the other girls"

  • like the way that Michael gives Fergal a nudge at the 1.26 mark to remind him it's time to sing again.... excellent song and excellent performance

  • Great performance, didn't think they'd be able to nail this one live, but they did!

  • Absolute and utter brilliance :) U2 is nothing compared to this band.

  • bliss reminds me of of youth growing up no money no future fucking great tunes

  • Oh Dear!!.........A member of ASH in the audience.......Gerralife and listen to the music

  • fab...but put out the fag

  • absolute fkin class superb

  • First heard this song covered by the queers. This is a hell of a live version- they nailed it clean.

  • One of my favourite Undertone songs.

  • He performs this very accurately live.

u2 are a poxy band and im ashamed to be Irish,

  • Same man they're a fuckin disgrace.Pocketing money and getting paid for it!!!!!!!Bullshit

  • Seen them back in 1980 in Rotterdam. Thnx for posting.

  • Great show...greetings from Sicily!

  • Saw em in Sheffield back in 1980, still a stand out gig, brilliant live band.

  • he looks....so much...like quentin terantino

  • Seen The Undertones in Derry last night. Still magic!

  • was there too. UNREAL. just pure class

  • I agree 100% with mikkifly!!!!!!

  • derrys finest

deserved to be bigger than u2.

  • @mikkifly Too fuckin right.

  • @mikkifly Fuck off

  • dead on so it is

  • sharky at his best.

  • Their next best after Teenage Kicks!

  • The Undertones alone are responsible for the legitimacy of pop-punk as a viable genre.

  • fuck

  • you know you wanna tall yin lmfao :)

  • escoiteinos na iguana. viva galiza

  • los versionaron los siniestro de puta madre:)

    ke vivan los 80!!!

  • Aylesbury Friars, May 1980. My First GiG :o)

  • Sounds great 30 years on!

  • Just fantastic...I love this song

  • love those drums! gives a big lump in the chest everytime!

  • clearly one of the early numbers in the set - Feargal still has his shirt on. Memories of being crushed in the front row at these gigs. Happy days.

  • I saw these guys at Hemel Pavilion the first time they came over the the UK - I was 14 and my big brother sneaked me in . They were so fucking good...

  • Smoking while singing on stage so Un-PC FAB !!! ALways loved Fergal's Unuusual Wharbling lol

  • just get the first undertones album"the undertones" and shake all night!

  • This is amazing, where's it from?

  • It's from a documentary (posted on YouTube, btw) called "The Story of the Undertones--Teenage Kicks".

  • Ridiculously cool. Today's 'youth music' is 'punk' in name only. Cheers for this, you've made an old punk very happy...

  • But, Mom, all the kids were smoking while singing!

  • well... I dislike when he smokes while singing, however F Sharkey was a so special artist, also as solo singer - Miss Sharkey !!!!

  • This song is like two minutes long but Feargal had to smoke his cigarette right before he starts singing. Tobacco fiend! Love this song.

  • I am also amused that Mickey is blowing bubbles when he's not singing.

  • xoxo

  • Hah! Fuckin' brilliant ...haven't heard this since I had hair!!

  • so fucking amazing!

    i love it !!

  • Really nice song, actually one of their best. But it sucked on record, because it wasnt raw enough! :) Live this song owns:) Rock on!

  • fucking class man

  • what a fuckin amazin song and band.

  • Love the Undertones saw them loads of times when they came to London. This is one of their earliest and best songs classic rock n roll.

  • This song is brilliant I agree but it was always done better live than on the single/album version the production wasnt raw enough.

  • Ohhh actually seeing this song played live gives me the shiverrrsss!!!

  • Thanks for posting this..takes me back oh yes..a band consistently overlooked and underrated but also one of the best..thanks again..

  • Oh, man, I cannot believe someone has a live clip of this friggin' amazing song. Thanks for putting this up. Just sent a link of this to a gal in Oz who needs to hear this. L.W. if you are reading this I hope you like it, heheh :)

  • Superb

    Nice one ludeboy Cheers

  • Undertones, I!m digging...

    I'm diging...!

    Fuck you fag!!!!!!!

    Get over you! Alotof punchs!

  • Feargal. Genius.

  • In fairness...

    John. Genius.

    Feargal. Singer.

  • Sooooooo cool! Loved them in 1980 and this song brings it all back. F*#cking solid performance! A+++

  • this takes me back , i was going out with an irish nurse living+working in Belfast called Heather in 1979 , i went over to stay with her (from Leeds i'd met her in Blackpool that summer ,ok too much information)and this, first of their albums, was hardly off the turntable in her flat almost all the time i was there, great memories , great album , great band , particularly in the early days

  • Best song of the Undertones,

I love the voice of Feargal Sharkey.

  • i've met the undertones and they are the most down to earth nicest guys ever and they make gr8 music :D

  • I know I'm going to get alot of angry comments, but cant help but compare (this song) to The Buzzcocks' "Boredom"

  • I could be nasty but I can't. Those two songs are so different even a tone deaf idiot could see the fundamental difference. They're both great songs in their own way but to compare them tonally is beyond me.

  • what i meant was the intro instrumental is similar. i am tone deaf from listening to punk 24/7 but far from an idiot

  • @NewPaltzIndie there is certainly similarities between the two groups the gutsy guitars ,pop melodies and ramones influence

  • .. fecking greatest band on earth . . .

  • That's how I remember them. Five scruffs from Derry making fantastic music. I saw U2 the week after (in 1979) and they were good but had none of the spirit. Feargal, Billy, John(Sean), Mickey and Damian had it in bucketloads.

  • What a performance...

  • We dressed like that coz we where all poor up here. Still remember the outside toilets.....

  • I ♥ The undertones yeahhhhhhhh

  • face to face is a brillant babd try listening to em esp i'm tring thst's a goood sooong

  • One of the best from one of the best.

  • This is SO good I feel the need to comment again. If you have never seen the band or haven't seen them since the '80s then you should get to see them as soon as you can. They are STILL the best band I've ever seen live!!!

  • 6 stars! Best Irish band ever. Their 1st two album kick the sh*t out of the whole U2 catalog.

  • Totally agree 100% Undertones are the best

  • One of the best Undertones songs ever... Great performance, thumbs up!

  • aaah, happy days....life was simpler then. God bless the Undertones!!

  • Awesome. Filmed before Sharkey's ego reached it's current phenomenal proportions. Damo and John...can there be a better pair of rock'n'roll guitarists???

  • They actually wore the clothes they got for Christmas I can tell lol. People Derry should be proud of!

  • I love how they always seem to wear the clothes they got for Christmas. Great song/performance!

  • thats how we kids dressed in them days .we couldnt afford the leather jackets and accessories that punk rockers were supposed to wear

  • I remember Feargal saying he would just go down the (flea) market and buy the cheapest shirts he could find before touring, then toss them away after a show. A truly awesome vid.

  • He's smoking!

  • Nice mate - was just about to upload this one myself but youve saved me the trouble

  • Rock n' roll doesn't get much better than this. Absolutely timeless!

  • This is a class upload
