That 01-04 GT must have been paper filter stock with an automatic. Makes sense that a sr20det would stomp it. A few mods to the stang would make it quicker. Gears, J-mod, nitrous and a tune. Simple stuff and it would be a funner car to take to the track.

Ive owned a foxbody before..the lx coupes are probably the lightest since they don't have the 100lb plus hatch.

Haven't done much to it just swapped a redtop sr20 chose to rebuild the internals instead of a turbo so I have a stage 2 BC head package in on the stock t25 at 12 psi.

@281jonjon to add to your statement, I drive a 2000 GT that gets an honest 22-24 city and 32-34 highway. I am putting down 275hp/307ft lbs so its probably close to 300/330 at the flywheel. All the bolt ons with ported heads and stock cams.

@mauiboypoi Ive got the fuel logs to back it up. You have to conserve fuel with slower driving and predicting when you need to stop. Seeing a Mustang with MPGs as high as mine just isnt that common because they aren't made for sipping fuel. They are 2 door sports cars. So when a guy like me comes along with the sense to drive in a way that saves fuel then guys like you just cant wrap their head around it. Ive had tanks last me over 300 miles.

@mauiboypoi If you want to stress over it then that's on you. I went 200 miles on 5.8 gallons of gas. You crunch the numbers. But that was just my personal best. Ive gotten 32mpg a few times and high 33mpg. Hitting 34mpg with no aero mods in a Stang is tough. Ive only done it once.

@mauiboypoi Most Mustang guys don't know how to drive soft enough to get that kind of higher MPG. Plus I dont have to churn such high RPM to move my Mustang. I can drive under 2,000rpm all day long. Most 4 cylinder cars need to go to 3,500 just to putt around town. I can do half the rpm and stay next to a 4 cylinder that needs to turn twice my RPM and be getting the same MPGs. 4.6@1,600rpm=2.3@3,200rpm Not that its always the case but just because its a V8 doenst mean its chugging fuel.
