the engl seems so clean and clear and the mesa sounds more distorted or jumbled. which are all good or bad qualities i guess. but i love the engl's originality, it sounds so... holly shit that's awesome. maybe the word is stable, very stable tone., the mesa sounds like well. a distorted amp. lot's of noise, but really not in a bad way that noise is the snarl. just my humble opinion.

mesa is if you want a really trebly, kinda flat and sharp tone. the engl is more for a middy, fat and juicy tone, similar to a 5150, but a lot more versatile.

mesa is just fizzy. engl is very creamy and tight, mesa is way grainier and a bit muddy. engl has just that special "tsh" in the palm mutes.

I would like to hear the comparison without the Maxon in the Boogie (you really like that pedal!), but seems clear that this amp was not designed for such low tunes (even there are people like Devin Townsead that use it extensively). The Engl delivers a wider range of low frequencies from this kind of tunning and gives a more rounded sound. Would be intesting to hear the same comparison in a more standard tunning (D at least), perhaps the result would be very different.

Das ist ja auch nur die Lautsprecherbox. Bei geeigneter Position des Mikrofons kann man dabei auch nicht viel falsch machen, zumal die Speaker an sich vermutlich auch von einem anderen Hersteller stammen. Aber deren Instrumente sind lediglich gut geformtes Brennholz. Was will man schon von hauseigenen Low-Budget-Marken erwarten... Und von einem Vogel der sich hinter seinem Internetnickname versteckt muss ich mir meine Redefreiheit nicht verbieten lassen.

@totengesang Was bildest du dir eigentlich auf dich ein? lol. In der Box sind 2 V30 von Celestion drin, Ola benutzt die Box auch für andere Recordings. Die Box klingt klasse und kann locker mit welchen mithalten, die doppelt so teuer sind, oder noch teurer. Bevor man gleich alles verteufelt, weil ein bestimmter Name draufsteht, sollte man das Zeug schon kennen, bzw. mal ausprobiert haben.

Ever since I first saw this, I knew I came closer to the perfect sound. I work at a music store in Romania, which helped me spread your video to people far and wide as a standard point in tone making. Question, though: this tone (I like the ENGL better) is a bit too raw, how can I add to its juiciness and fatness? Is that possible with just this gear or do you recommend adding (or switching with) something else? And secondly, is there any way to get this kind of tone with a cheaper gear? Thanks!

This is what you call a fucking excellent comparison demonstration. Excellently recorded and produced. Played one after another, and well mixed. Close your eyes and you eventually learn the difference between the two heads.

Honestly this is as close as it gets to travelling to a music store and trying them out in person.

I was watching a few high-gain amp shootouts and it was the most annoying videos to watch because they were using the camera mics or not playing anything heavy enough to know if it's good for metal, or they didn't mix/master it well. I'd like to see this guy test out all of the high gain amps on the market and just create one seamless song like he's shown here and demo like a dozen or so amps. Excellent job!

Just bought this amp and I have to say that i love the sound! There is a bit of a humming problem with the amp especially at high gain settings, but I managed to fix it by using the boss NS-2.

How the hell can you play at that master volume level without damaging your hearing ?? :D
