  • this is great!!

  • fiddle/violin all the same depends on player. fiddlers use 4 fine tuners while violinists use only one on the e- string (generallt) left hand fiddle...never saw one saw left handed fiddlers playing same as regluar strung fiddles.

  • first left handed fiddle player i ever saw ....

  • What is the difference between a Fiddle and a Violin arnt they the same?

  • Same thing. Although you can get away with calling a viola a fiddle you'd be in trouble calling it a violin. Then there's the double bass, sometimes called the bass fiddle.

  • Difference between a violin and a fiddle. about 10000$.

Actually the difference is similar to the difference between an acoustic guitar and a classical guitar. Can have different strings but can also have the same. 90% of the difference is the way its played.

Usually big fiddle players need more expensive instruments to be able to have the action required for difficult fiddle pieces.

  • @GRoller95 the diffrence is how you play your instroment

  • he holds the bow weird

is that how you hold it for fiddling?

  • There is only one way to hold a violin and a violin bow. However, there is no wrong way to hold a fiddle or fiddle bow. hehe

  • I like your vid clip and I've rated it as awesome. Please check out my video clip of some very rare 1934 tobacco cards of old and ethnic musical instruments.

  • OK This tune, La Belle Caturine.

The tune on the other vidio Bouchards hornpipe

  • Taloon64... Paul tells me he strings his fiddle EADG.

JonathansGurl91...Paul has left a voice mail with the name of this tune (and the other tune on the other video) they sound a bit French Canadian so I will check the spellings and be back to you.

  • Thank you!

  • good session

  • From left to right, do your strings go (G D A E) or (E A D G)? I once heard of someone reversing their strings to accomplish this left-handed awesomeness. :D

  • Unless you want to emulate the lowest strings of a guitar for familiar fingering(?).

My violin book says there is no such thing as left handed violin, but that doesn't mean it couldn't be done (Would require a custom bridge at a minimum... the violin is internally assymetric with a bass reinforcement rib on one side & sound post on the other)

  • Why a custom bridge? You just turn your bridge around to face the other way and then string it E, A, D, G. Done...

  • Oops, forgot the sound post and bassbar...little more effort and cost, but not that unheard of.

  • Splendid. Played with the style of a left-handed batsman. I'll join the three cheers for Ireland. Many thanks crabb 18.

  • could you tell me the name of this tune? Thanks.

  • Yes Paul is a south-paw.

  • Is the video flipped or is he playing left-handed? Pretty cool, if so, I've only known a couple of serious left-handed fiddlers.

  • LOVED IT!! THREE CHEERS FOR IRELAND!!

  • sweet
