  • wow gr8t choreography.... 5 stars

  • Thanks for the comments! To explain the name-I'm not sure if 'messed up' is the right description. I'm Korean, and it's based (loosely) on traditional Korean fan dance. We had a lot of talk about mixing Korean and Chinese influences (some Chinese fan dance moves) and basically decided to throw them both in. Hence the Chinese introduction and the spoken Korean cue mid-way through.

  • (sorry for being repetitive, wanted to delete this comment, but apparently I can't.)

  • how about european invasion

  • I'm not sure how 'European Invasion' would work, as none of the dancers and neither of the choreographers are European. Thanks again for watching!

  • "asian invasion"? that's messed up

  • Thanks very much for watching. To explain the title, I'm Korean and originally approached the group with the idea to mix traditional Korean fan dance with step. While choreographing, though, we ended up mixing Chinese fan dance (one of the group members had learned Chinese fan dance when she was younger) with traditional Korean moves (such as the flower at the end), and we did have a lot of discussion about whether or not mixing these influences would be propogating stereotypes or not.

  • The title was definately not on our minds and was a very last minute addition. If anything, Asian Invasion was supposed to be a tounge-in-cheek comment on Asian stereotypes and how many people lump all Asian cultures together, as well as a comment on our dance and how we ended up using rhythmic influences from several cultures (step+Chinese fan dance+Korean fan dance+a little hip-hop dance).

  • men....thats awesom

  • Nice choreography... kudos on the execution as well.
