A personal friend of mine is an engineer for Norfolk Southern. Just the other day he mentioned running an intermodal train with a GE C40-8. He said that he likes the C40-8, C40-9, C40-9W, and the ES40DC. He has operated each of those locos I listed at least once. He was the lucky first to actually take control of NS' first ES40DC!!

@nsrailfann4life91 thats cool I finally got to do a passenger special a few years ago through there we ran a private car special for the City of Cinncinatti to Chattanouga roundtrip pulled with two NS whitefaced GP40s I have a horn P5 off a NS C36-7 I belive it is I am going to somday mount on my truck

@gaycowboy31 Thats cool. I love Nathan Airchime Horns. I like the White-Faced GP40s. I have a HO Scale model White-Faced GP38-2 #5287. I weathered it myself. The C36-7s are cool too. I would love to see one of them com down this way. It would be a rare catch considering that NS only has 5 or 6 of them.

The roadrailers trailers are basically semi trailers propped up on top of railroad car trucks(wheels). I've seen a video somewhere of how they get them up and down,via hydraulics,if I'm not mistaken. But it's very easy to go from train to truck when they reach their destination.

I wonder if anyone has footage , of the Rathole , before the big rebuild , in the early 1960's , back when it still had all the old long narrow tunnels and the climb in and out , of the New River valley , in Tennessee ?

I've already got both these! Live about 1.5 hours away & have been up there about 15 times.If my 9 year old son is with me we'll go to the Onieda city park & play basketball or throw football & just watch the trains go right by the park!
