  • Now THAT is a race! This is absolutely incredible, and a perfectly strategic performance from both Greg Anderson and Brendan Matthias. What an inspiration! Now if I could only break my PB of 11:02...

  • Greg was 1 grade ahead of me and I owe the inspiration to remain active to him to this day actually. I had such a HUUUUGE crush on him in high school but never acted upon it - not me to do so. His strides weren't just "running", he made it an absolute "art" form and the crowd always just grew silent upon watching him as he rounded the last laps. Sure would be nice to hear from him again, he was never vain and THAT was something in High School. I knew he'd succeed at anything he'd do, JStephF

  • My apologies to 2010runway as that was MY post and NOT theirs. I am new to fb, sorry, JSF

  • 1. Greg Anderson, 8:00.20,2. Brendan Matthias, 8:13.80 3. Guy Schultz, 8:31.70

    4. Nick Tsioros, 8:33.10 5. B. Pilgrim, 8:41.10 6. A. Forster, 8:42.60

  • If you have the 2000m steeplechase for 1987 Ofsaa, could you please upload it. Thanks again.

  • @konichiwazu -CH TV did not broadcast the steeplechase, sorry.

  • That was my last high school race. Thanks for uploading this. Never did findout my exact time or finish in this but think somewhere around 10th in 8:53 according to a friend.

  • soo legit. another ofsaa. Yvess tried!!

  • @lovefaithpurity

Yvess, your 8:18.46 is a respectable time. Probably top 5 of all Ontario times.

    thednolet

  • he looks like hes running 400m

    sooo fast

  • Greg Ran His Last 800, In 2:00 Just Pull Out Your Watch And Time it! His Last 1500m Was 3:55

  • I heard that Greg is working in Dallas as an engineer.

  • @thednolet wonder if he ever still runs from time to time..

  • HOLY FUCK

  • Thanks for the link. Yes, I remember this race. I was officiating the throws and was on the far side of the track. I can hear Bob Hancock giving the PA announcements at the meet. I was on the far side and remember the interest the crowd had in this great race. Reminds me of a great 1500m that was held at OFSAA at Etobicoke Centennial between two top high schoolers that kept changing the lead until one of them edged out a win at the line.

  • The first 1500m was solid! the last 1500m was sick!!!! I believe Greg ran his last 800m in 1:55... I placed second that day in the jr boys 800 in 1:55.

I would rank this as the greatest High school effort at any Championship!

Wonder what Greg is up to these days?

  • this is amazing

  • An unbelievable race. I was amazed when I heard about it the day it happened and was sorry that I didn't attend the meet to witness this amazing feat. Thanks for posting it.

  • One of the great moments in Ontario high school sports.
