Both beautiful voices, both amazing talents...yet I definitely prefer Liz over Lea. She has a warmer tone while I feel Lea's is less crystal clear (airier, if you will), less nuanced, less expressive. But seriously, I'm not knocking Lea's chops. She's at the top of her field, for sure.

OK, going on the record that I have the BIGGEST crush on Liz Callaway. I got the chance to meet her at a concert at Showchoir Camps of America several years ago, and she was as gracious as I could have hoped. I saw her in "Merrily" and "Baby" and "Miss Saigon" and "Cats" and "Spitfire Grill," as well as the Sondheim concerts. Sorry, Lea, you are great, but I still have the BIGGEST crush ever on Liz. I find that when Lea is belting she tends to use vibrato earlier on in those long notes than Liz. Also Lea has a very rounded tone to her voice which makes it a very clear sound.

Lea sounds more Broadway in her singing, very strong and (can be) in your face, while Liz is a little softer and more intimate with her singing.

Not sure about the albums Lea's version comes from but Liz's sings it on the Original Cast Regording of Baby and also on her solo album on Varese Saraband, also called The Story Goes On, Liz Calloway, On & Off Broadway (album no.VSD-5585.

That's why Liz follow up Lea's jobs after Lea. Lea Salonga recorded Jasmine int he movies.Liz Callaway is the singing voice of Jasmine in the tv show because their voices are close to each other. Lea recorded Baby and then Liz recorded after. They did appear together in Miss Saigon on Broadway.Lea was Kim and Liz was Ellen.Then they appeared together again on Lea's concert at the Carnigie Hall where they sang this song.Again, people were confused.

Wow, wasn't this recorded during their rehearsal for Lea's Carnegie Concert? Was this a sound board recording? Were you there during the rehearsal? The concert version was different from this one.
