  • I've been into Phil and Genesis for about a year now (though I've been aware of him/them since childhood, I'm now 24) I just discovered this song recently as it was usually a "skip over" for me. I must say tho, very pleasant on the ears. Most specifically the verses..Phil's melody really scratches me where I itch.

  • I love this. Great performance beautiful and the light show is awesome Tony Banks is the best

  • Interesting that Mike broke out his old Roland GR-500 just for this one song on this tour. I guess he couldn't get that bass synth sound from his GR-300. I imagine he probably figured it be easier to play the bass line on the guitar than trying to play steady 8th notes on the bass pedals.

  • wat a band !!! got all there music over the years ,

  • i was a genesis fan at an early age and my friends said what is this shit, when they got older they realized the error of their ways, and understood what real music was..

    its this.

  • This has got to be one of my FAVORITES. The thing is, I say that about almost every Genesis song I hear, and it drives my friends crazy. But the truth can do that !

  • great!!!! :-))

  • they slowed it down. Weak.

  • @1dgkonig

    Hardly.

  • One of my favorite Genesis songs.

  • Phil's son Simon did a remake of this song that kicks some serious ass. It was on You tube for a while but then was taken off. If you can find it , you really need to hear it. He sounds just like his Dad !!!

  • @human20freedom Crappy comment, dunder-headed buffoon.

  • Can you tell where this was recorded? Is it the Birmingham gig?

  • I discovered Genesis on this tour, free tix to MSG helped.........have not put my collection of Genesis record and CDs since.......

  • Heard this song on my very first date-ever. This song was the most memorable part of the night.

  • can anyone tell me what the instrument phil is twisting is called ?

  • @yobremmurdelttil - its an english football rattle

  • Great counter point melodies & rhythyms in this song

  • Keep It Dark + Dodo/Lurker= Abacab's finest moments.

  • @GoGoGadgetBeer

    totally. add "ABACAB" itself :-)

  • Chester HAVIN FUN AND LAUGHING!

    Rare!

    :)))

  • I love this song, thanks

  • One of the lesser known Genesis songs, brilliantly performed live on this tour.

  • I think he knows that. Phil never looked to be the new Peter, he stepped in as singer when Peter left.

  • mclainrose stfu you loser

  • no shit....peter is too busy these days taking as long as axl rose to put a new lp together lol

  • mclainrose....brilliant you are....very perceptive, now you keep it dark...

  • @karkovice10 no Abacab song, that was bad.

But where did you get this video?

are there any good bootlegs of the song?

  • Great performance,..great vid,..

  • Utter magic

  • great harmony, greart rythm...great drums. phil is all over this shit

  • Ha, ha...Chester looks so young!

  • This is probably my favourite Collins-era Genesis song.

  • Who doesn't miss the 80's??

  • Such a talented singer.

  • I saw them on this tour in Okc, Ok. One of my top ten favorite concerts.

  • This is, by far, my most favourite Genesis song.

I fulfilled a life long dream back in the summer of 2007 by seeing them live in Toronto.

They gave an awesome concert! They played a lot of songs I was familiar with, and others I didn't even know they wrote.

My only regret, though, was that they did not play any songs from Abacab, like this song right here. I would've LOVED to have heard them play this one live!

But I had a great time, nevertheless. :)

  • I wanted to hear Abacab

  • wont you marry me phil? i love you so I always will....;}

  • lmao duh people lol

I wish that I could really tell you

All the things that happened to me

And all that I have seen.

A world full of people their hearts full of joy,

Cities of light with no fear of war,

  • nice speech at the very beginning

  • Great song for running by the creek, with the Sony Walkman on full blast

  • FANTASTIC! my fave song from 'abacab' - thanks for posting this!!

  • I always thought it was about a vampire...LOL...too many schrooms at that time I guess... :)

  • One of the bands great one that never really gets played when they tour. It does bring back some great memories from the early 80's.

  • this is some deep ****, no doubt!

  • this is off the album abacab (which) i have on lp, did any 1 know that there are 4 different coloured lp sleaves to chose from i have the yellow one and i found out years later that my dad has the green one because my dad left home years ago there was a blue one aswell and a red one if anyone has all 4 they've got a good collection please right in

  • I too have always liked this one, but hearing it live takes it over the top - this is outstanding. i love phil's antics with the rogue keyboard notes sandwiched in the middle of the versus. classic phil.

  • Keyboards and bass are too quiet imho.

    Still great song...

  • This song sounds better live than the original version. Phil is a great performer

  • As simple as it is, it's one of their best. I absolutely have always loved this song.

  • I agree. I have loved this song from day one. I never knew it was about an alien abduction though. Now the lyrics are much mor clearer to me...

  • Never heard this one live. Super!!

  • Great!

  • Thanks for adding this one!
