I wish I had the same knowledge as yours to align my RCA 811K. I can't even figure out where and how to connect the VTVM and the Signal Generator. May be someday I'll be able to do it. thanks for sharing. It keeps me motivated.
Great job! It did surprise me, however, how well the set played before your alignment, considering how far off many of the adjustments were. But now it looks like the image is sharp enough that you can even see the "dot crawl" artifacts of the NTSC color system!
@vwestlife Thanks. I was surprised too. That makes me think the sets I've restored earlier could really benefit from an alignment as well.
I've heard one way to 'kill' the color signal is to use only the green output from a DVD player that has composite output. I'll give that a try someday.
You do good work Bob wish you lived near me .I have an old Philco Predicta (The Type that looks like a martian not the desk top model)I would have you help me try and restore it.I had it running at one time but it had an intermittant loss of horizontal drive. Its been sitting awhile now in myt basement. Probably needs a good recap job. The flyback didnt look to healthy to me. Hope its not bad. Keep the awsome videos comming ! Thanks.
@tmnt220 Thanks!. I've heard flybacks issues are common in Predictas. One of mine looks fried as does one one a parts chassis. Unfortunately, these are some of the most difficult sets to work on. They use circuit boards that are hard wired in. One of these days I'll pull my dead Princess model out and attempt a full recap. That might give you some ideas on how to fix yours. Good luck.
@pskittle488 I'm glad you like them. I recorded these videos a few days ago, but it took a long time to edit. There will be one final segment on using a test pattern generator.

Thank you so much for this series on alignment. It pleases me to see another of these old sets saved from the scrap heap. They are so much part of
American history. You the man!
